I fed my dog nutro natural choice her whole life (she's 7yrs old). She has done great on it but she would occatioally throw up yellow bile every couple of weeks. Not thinking it was the food I still fed it to her. She has always hated the food and at times won't eat unless we encourage her. I was talking to a rep at a pet store and she told me that they added soy to there food not to long ago. Soy is not good for dogs! That made me start looking at the ingredents again. The first ingredent used to be a meat meal and it has now changed to rice flour. This makes me mad! Nurto has always promoted there food saying that real meat is the number one ingredent. After the recalls I was starting to wonder about the true nutritional value in the food, since it's made in the same plant as all the crap food. I'm not happy with this food any more and quite frankly I'm very upset that I fed it to my dog for all these years!

I fed my two chihuahuas Nutro Ultra Weight Management (dry kibble) for the last 1 1/2 years. Two months ago both became extremely sick -- vomiting bile, lethargy, extreme thirst & urination. They were diagnosed with severe liver damage. One dog got better as soon as I changed her diet, the other was miserably sick and near death for 2 1/2 weeks. Please stay away from this food -- it's not worth the chance you take.

regardless of the fact that it doesent have byproducts, its still poor quality food made primarily of carbs which are difficult for dogs to digest, theyre carnivores for gods sake. Also contains soy, a common allergen.

Horrid. Dog was puking bile up to 2x a day. I just hope we caught it in time.

Prior to the last 5-6 months, we had our Border Collie on 2 Nutro dry formulas- Nutro Lamb & Rice and Nutro Max. This past spring he started walking away from his food and would only eat when we (foolishly and repeatedly) encouraged him. He was also occasionally vomiting bile not all the time, but several times over a period of two three weeks. When the recalls came out, we constantly watched the lists, but neither of the Nutro dry formulas he was on were added to these lists. Fortunately, I realized that no matter what the FDA and the Nutro company said, my dogs behavior and vomiting had to be related to the Nutro dry kibble. We were just VERY lucky that he did not get seriously ill. After reading an article on making your own dog food in our local paper, I got on the site that was referenced in the article, www.dogaware.com and also became a member of the K9Nutrition list. I now make our own dog food with good quality meats, organs, organic yogurt, eggs, plus some veggies and a small amount of whole grains (brown rice and oats, no corn or wheat), and appropriate supplements (fish oil, calcium, vitamins, etc.) to make a diet that is properly balanced and provides superior nutrition to most commercial dog food. Our Border Collie is healthy, energetic, and has a beautiful, silky coat- and he loves his food! We just adopted a 9 month old, large-size puppy 5 days ago. We think she is a Lab, German Shepherd, Border Collie mix. We are transitioning her from the veterinarian-recommended puppy kibble formula Hills Science Diet, in which the first 3 ingredients are: ground corn, chicken by-product meal (means the throw-away parts people dont eat) and Animal Fat (no source listed) she had been on to our homemade dog food. Already, her stools are much smaller and less odorous, and her flaky skin is clearing up. She also loves it! Note: I am not saying that making your own dog food is for everyone. It requires some research and is a bit of work. There are also some very good prepared/commercial foods: dry, canned, fresh blends, or frozen that contain high quality meat and other nutritious ingredients (rather than the least expensive or food that is unfit for human consumption). It is just important to make informed choices about how and what to feed our furry family members.

NUTRO IS OWNED BY ONE OF THE THREE BIG ANIMAL FOOD CORPORATIONS...THEY WERE RECALLED IN AUGUST OF 2007 FOR MELAMINE POISON...THEY CONTINUE TO DECEIVE THE PUBLIC BY HIDING THE FACT THAT THESE SUPPOSEDLY SMALL LABELS ARE REALLY OWNED BY THE GIANT CORPORATIONS THAT ALL MANUFACTURE THROUGH THE ONE TAINTED PLANT IN CANADA...THE ONLY DOG FOOD I'VE FOUND TO BE TRULY SAFE IS BILJAC...MOVIE ANIMAL TRAINER GARY GERO COULD HAVE ANY BRAND GIVEN TO HIM FOR FREE FOR THE CREDIBILITY, BUT GARY GERO CHOOSES TO BUY DOG FOOD FROM BILJAC INSTEAD OF GETTING IT FREE FROM THE BIG BOX BRANDS. THAT SAYS A LOT. I NOW HAVE MY DOGS ON BILJAC AND THEY SEEM TO BE DOING GREAT! BILJAC IS SOLD AT PETSMART

I switched my dog to Nutro Chicken and Rice for Sensitive stomaches to try and control his farting somewhat and he was extremely sick within 24 hours. He threw up bile, horrible diahrea, completly lethargic, couldn't hold down anything, even water. I don't know whats in the food, but it was a violent reaction. And this is NOT what you need when there is a Parvo outbreak with exactly the same symptoms. I was worried sick.

My 9 mo. old standard poodle has been on Nutro lamb & rice since we got her. Lately she has been gagging, vomiting bile & food, and drinking more. when it started, we were only half way through the bag & bought a new one...same thing happened. My husband ran out to the store & bought a small bag of another brand just to get us through the weekend..and she had NO problems at all. We are switching immediately !
danielad 08/28/2007
There is something wrong in this NUTRO MAX. My dog is vomiting thick yellow bile and I think is due to this food. I am going to switch her immediately on another brand.

Ok I understand a lot of people are scared of Nutro products now Because of the wet dog food recall (There were no problems with dry) I do feel sorry for the owners of the pets that got sick it was a horrible tragedy but it does happen and will happen again with some food product for pets and humans. Now listen this is fact if you grab any bag of dog food from Nutro the main ingredient will be (MEAT) vs Iams and all the other brands which will be corn, potato, or some other vegetable that you would never see a wolf indulging on do you get the point! Its pretty simple wolves genetically the same as dogs do not go scouring the cornfields to eat have you ever heard of a wolf pulling a potato up to eat no. Yes dogs stomachs have evolved some what but not enough where as there main dietary supplement should not be meat! I signed on here just to write this I had seen a lot of angry pet owners writing in and I just dont want you to feed your dogs garbage because of the recall. P.S Stop over feeding your dogs I know you love them but you are killing them your dog should be thin, you should feel there ribcage if you cant they should go on a diet and by all means never feed your dog human food! Like chips and any other things you dumb humans give to your beloved family member better known as your dog!

Please stay away from this food!! My 3 year old rat terrier was on Nutro Chicken and Rice for Sensitive stomaches and recently starting having bloody stools, vomiting bile, and urinating in his bed. I know there is no recall on the dry food yet but they are starting to recall other dry dog food. I have read dozens of stories regarding the Nutro dry food relating to serious sickness in dogs and even death. Please switch your dog to a brand that hasn't had any recalls. It's not worth it!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS FOOD! I'd give it a zero rating if I could. I purchased Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites in preparation for the arrival of my small Cocker Spaniel I recently adopted because I'd read wonderful reviews on other sites. BUT something has definitely changed - and for the worse - with the manufacturing process of this product. My new dog was fine for a few days, then, like so many of the posts here attest to, he began to vomit yellow bile and have frequent loose stools. He stopped eating his food, as if he knew that it was going to make him sick. My vet could find nothing wrong with him, but strongly recommended that I switch his food. So, I chucked 3 bags of this awful Nutro, and put him on Nature's Variety dry dog food. Thankfully, he's doing much better!

It is our opinion to not ever recommend Nutro pet products to anyone. It is our opinion that our dog is very sick from eating nutro natural choice dry dog food. We complained to the Nutro company and they ignore us. They simply act as if they DO NOT CARE. You can read more stories and opinions as to why other people do not feed the nutro products by visiting www.voy.com/211161/

I'm sorry kids - nothing but Orijen, Evo, or Go Natural for you ever again.Go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com for intelligent understanding of nutrition for dogs, then read your labels. Ouch!Repent now and throw out your Nutro!

With Mars purchasing Nutro, now they will not need to use Menu foods for their wet foods. I believe that the future for Nutro will be brighter and stronger. I too have used several different holistic brands with my 3 dogs and now that Nutro's Ultra small breed has come out, my 3 companions are doing extremely well eating this food. Other brands that did not do well on were Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, and Wellness. Oh, and by the way, Wellness cans are canned by Menu Foods. I found this out by calling the company. For now, I will stick with the Ultra small breed for my 3 companions!

***Update, the Nutro company just sold out to Mars inc. (yeah, thats right, the M&M candy company). FYI, Mars also owns such brands as Pedigree and Royal Canin, as well as a few other extremely low quality foods. What you are about to see in the near future is that Nutro's quality is going to go significantly down (not that it was very high to begin with) and you may even get to see Nutro in the supermarkets...scary huh? Do not buy from this company, your dog will be healthier when he is on a better food. (e.g. Nature's Variety, Innova, Canidae)
edmacdaddy 04/26/2007
I have fed my dogs Nutro since 2001, but yesterday I lost a 7 year old after buying a bag of small bites lamb and rice, she became cripple in her hind legs and drank tons of water only after 2 days on it, only to throw it all back up. Nutro was a expensive dog food for me since I have a few dogs. but Missy ate more then the other ones, but anyhow I burried Missy yesterday, so stop taking up for companies that are killing our pets.
kbrown6 04/24/2007
We have one dog who has been on Nutro since we got her almost a year ago, and a younger puppy who has been on Canidae. At the beginning of February, the Nutro dog started a new bag of food and also started throwing up bile three to four times a day. After a week of trying various things, we switched her over to the Canidae the puppy eats and she hasn't thrown up since. Despite the fact that the food hasn't been recalled (it's a kibble), I would NOT feed it to my dog. We threw out almost an entire 20 lb bag and we'll never buy it again.
Mooseroo 04/24/2007
I have always fed my german shepherd the Nutro Large Breed dry formulas with good results. He was having some hot spot issues until I switched him to the Lamb & Rice Large Breed dry and that took care of it. His coat looks great: shiny and healthy. For those having problems, I would check to see if your pets are allergic to any of the ingredients in the food. The fact that some pets are fine with the food means it's probably an allergy with individual animals rather than an overall problem with the food itself.
labraCadabra 04/16/2007
Had been feeding my Labradoodle Barkley the Natural Choice Puppy Lamb and Rice. He has been great with it every since now, he is puking up yellow bile multiple times a day. Thanks to this post, we have started him on Nature's Recipie, and just like that, no more yellow bile. I will never recommend another Nutro product again.

The breeder said the puppy was eating IAMS so that is what we purchased but when we picked her up we were given a bag of food that she was eating and it wasn't IAMS. Not knowing what to do other than to switch her over we did and after a few days she was fussing with the food and not eating it. We decided to switch again and this time to Nutro Natural. Since it was for sensitive tummies we figured we would again try to switch her slowly....well she picked out only the Nutro to eat, so we had know choice but to only feed the nutro. Well I don't know if it was the food or something she picked up outside but she had very runny stools and then one morning blood in her stool. The vet gave her albon and we put her on some bland food for a few days which did the trick. thinking it wasn't the food we starting giving it to her again and then the vommitting started. After reading these reviews....thanks so much...We realized the Nutro had to go. We finally switched her to Innova Puppy which she had no trouble switching to cold turkey and in days she was 100x better. We even noticed her coat looks better and she is less itchy. If you've got a pup beware of Nutro Natural. I hope this helps someone else.
MYCATROCKET 04/03/2007
NUTRO LIED TO EVERYONE. THE COMPANY OWNERS AND EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE ASHAMED. THEY MADE IT TO THE TOP BUT THEY ARE GOING DOWN FAST. LIES ABOUT WHERE THE FOOD WAS MADE, INGREDIENTS, ETC. DON'T LET THIS COMPANY TAKE ANYMORE OF YOUR MONEY. THERE ARE GREAT FOODS OUT THERE LIKE BUFFALO BLUE AND NATURAL BALANCE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FEED YOUR DOGS CRAP.
Joanystar 04/02/2007
This food is BAD!!! Please DO NOT use ANY Nutro, wet or dry! The FDA finally announced that there are some DRY foods that are poisoned.

About 4 weeks ago I switched my two one year old labs from Purina Dog Chow to Nutro large breed lamb and rice because it was supposed to be a premium brand. However, two weeks ago I have noticed that they have began puking every day (some kind of yellow bile substance). This has frightened me into thinking that their is definitely something wrong because its not just my dogs that are having this side effect. I hope I have not harmed my dogs permanantely by having have given them this food. I am definitely switching from this brand and recommend others to do so as well. I agree that Nutro might me not disclosing all of the details in an effort to continue selling their dry food --- well I'm not waiting for another recall to be reported. I'm done with Nutro.
GaryMS 03/27/2007
When you pay extra for a dog food and it's supposed to be good for your dogs, you expect it to be. How angry am I at Nutro, and other "choice manufacturers" of dog food, that all this crap, no matter where it comes from, is made by one company? It's all the same!
bostonMN 03/25/2007
Originally my Boston Terrier was on the Organic Science Diet and we experienced problems with her losing hair. We found out the main ingredient was a corn filler and she was allergic to it. At that time we switched her to Nutro Natural (as it was supposed to be the best food out there), after the first 2 weeks everything seemed to be working good. However, she started having diarrhea problems and having the yellow bile vomit as everybody has mentioned before. It started out with her vomiting about once a week. We brought her to the vet and they completed all the fecal tests and everything came back negative. The vet stated it might be an issue with the food and recommended a different food due to her sensitive stomach. We switched to Nutro Rice and Oatmeal (for sensitive stomachs). She is still having loose stools and still vomiting even more; it has been a few times a day now. I'm glad I found this site as it reassures me it is an issue with the food and I need to find a new brand!

I just started feeding my 1 1/2 year old maltese and 6 month old Shih Tzu Nutro Max lamb and Rice food. My maltese (Layla) started throwing up every few days, which we thought was just from her overeating. This morning she threw up 7 times. It was bile. She also used the bathroom in the house twice and it had a charcoal look to it. We were going to immediatly take her to the vet when we stumbled upon this website. We switched both dogs over to Canidae and have seen immediate results. Nutro is not a cheap dog food, so I thought I was doing good by feeding it to them. Something must be terribly wrong though. I would strongly urge every pet owner to get reviews on the food they feed their animals. I know I will from now on.

Recently switched my Mini Pin and Toy Fox Terrier over to Nutro Natural Choice small bites Lamb and Rice formula . They both eat it with no problem except recently the Mini Pin started vomiting foamy yellow bile every morning. Although she doesn't "act" sick, and the terrier hasn't had any problem with vomiting, I was concerned. I am glad I googled and found this site before taking her to the vet. Although, I wasted money on this horrible food, at least I am not out money from a vet bill.

I'm so glad that I found this site. My Jack Russell has been on Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice for a few weeks now and started vomiting 1 to 2 times a day recently. I'm going to switch him to another food. He started on Purina One and had no problems. I'll probably switch him back to that. Or, does anyone else have any other suggestions?

But so have 48 other brands of dog food. Actually, Nutro did a voluntary recall because MENU foods who makes dog & cat food for at least 48 other animal food companies had a problem with one of their suppliers & a couple of dogs from another brand ( not Nutro ) got sick &/or died. So Nutro recalled everything made by MENU foods that could have been tainted. Added 3/19/07Im so surprised at the reactions that some are saying their dogs are having with Nutro brand foods. Ive never had any problems getting my spoiled & pampered little ones to eat Nutro & Ive never seen oil or grease or anything at all that would indicate poor quality. It literally looks good enough to eat!I just bought another case of Nutro Ultra today. Im sorry to hear about the problems others are having & wish you all the best.My question now is, if 49 other brands of dog food were suspect right along with Nutro, what brand have you switched to?
ollie2 03/19/2007
Not all the dogs that died were fed on other brands. We had to have our beautiful 20 month old GSD put to sleep on 3/16; ironiclly, at the same time these guys were recalling the food that caused his problems.
LoveTucker 03/19/2007
I was under the impression that the Nutro Natural Choice was a good quality food but when I started feeding my puppy it (large breed lamb and rice puppy), the poor thing started to puke daily in the morning. It was horrible, continual puking of bile and he wasn't happy. Stupid me I thought he had a problem with lamb so I swapped him over to the chicken, rice and oatmeal for sensitive stomachs and he did recover....for a month. then puke, puke, puke, puke....bile every morning, sometimes 3-4 times a day. I tortured this poor dog with this oily dry dog food for over a year, changed over to Blue Buffalo Holistic Chicken and my dog is BACK. He loves to eat now, and his coat is so much nicer, he doesn't smell, NEVER PUKES since the first day I switched him over. When cleaning his bowls you can see the grease that this junk food leaves. Super oily, but the new food leaves no residue. Avoid this fodd, if you dog pukes, don't pay for a vet, switch him IMMEDIATELY. It got so bad, my dog was hungry and whining sadly because he wanted to eat, but just couldn't eat the Nutro food cause he knew it was going to make him sick. My pup deserves better, this food is junk crap overlaced with oil.

When I brought my black Lab home from the breeder, I started her on Eukanuba puppy. She would hardly eat, had diarrhea all the time, and was just not perky. My vet suggested I switch her to a more natural diet without corn or chicken by products and I tried Solid Gold dog food for awhile, but she still didn't eat like a Lab should eat. After several weeks of research, I switched her to Nutro brand dog kibble mixed with raw meat (ground turkey, beef, chicken, or pork) and my dog has never had a problem since. She is 3 years old and I feed her Nutro Lamb and Rice Lite with a little raw meat added and her coat is soft and shiny, her eyes bright, and her stools have been solid. She has never had skin allergies or skin problems. My dog is the envy of the neighborhood because she looks so good. I have never experienced any vomiting or loose stools. My dog finally eats like a Lab. I have a friend who is a holistic vet and she recommended I try adding raw food to her diet in the first place to build up her stomach enzymes. I think the raw meat and the good kibble really did the trick. She is a dog and is designed to eat raw meat. I think some of these dogs with vomiting issues may have a stomach imbalance. Adding yogurt, mixed with ground turkey, and some granola might also work. My dog loved this when she was a puppy. She still is a diary cow and will eat ice cream and steal milk from the cats. I don't know - I am not one of these "must be all natural" crazy types, but this feeding routine has really worked for me.
TWG1572 03/14/2007
Our three year old german shepherd was on Natural Choice Lamb and Rice. We started having symptoms a month ago like everyone else on here describes. He began throwing up bile, and his coat got rough and he began losing hair in patches. Luckily i read the reviews on here and noticed that everyone was having problems like us. (Thank you Google for finding this site). We switched him over to Canidae and his glossy coat is back and no more episodes of vomiting. What tops this off is the fact that I called Neutro because the feeding directions on the bag did not correspond to the directions on their website. The answer I got was that "feed whatever amount your dog does well on". While that is a good general answer - I would expect a more specific answer from a dog food company and would hope they could tell me approximately how much to feed. Overall I had a poor customer service experience and poor experience feeding Neutro. Will not feed again.
toomanydogs 03/13/2007
I don't think it's contaminated food. The main problem seems to be the soybean oil that was added to the food just over a year ago. I've done some reading on soy and on soybean oil, and it is now among the list of ingredients that I will not feed my pets. The store I buy my food (Canidae) in had such a large number of dogs on Nutro that had lost thier coats, were vomiting, and had ear infections, that they no longer carry it at all.
orson55 03/12/2007
I switched my Lab/Greyhound mix to Nutro Chicken and Oatmeal. In a short period of time, she became extremely ill, burping up food, vomiting several times a day and getting severe diarrhea. She was hospitalized for 3 days, and full bloodwork was done. The vet was not hopeful, telling me it was probably too late. They couldn't find a cause, and assumed it was food poisoning from eating something she shouldn't have. She did recover, and I unknowingly continued to feed her Nutro. This was in October. Two weeks ago, the symptoms began again. I took her to the vet, they ran bloodtests and did x-rays this time. They again suggested it may be food poisoning. The vet saw an unusual amount of gas in her intestines. They have yet to find a reason for it and are still running tests. I have switched her to Natural Balance and she has not vomited since. After finding this message board, I'm beginning to think there is something seriously wrong with Nutro. Seeing as how all of the earlier posts are positive, and most of the newer posts on the board are negative and deal with vomiting bile, is it possible it's not the food itself, but that contaminated batches are being sold?
Import32 02/19/2007
This morning my 2yr old std. schnauzer vomitted foamy, orangey bile. This has started occurring more often, so I came online to research b4 taking her to the vet. I was surprised when I found several websites with many people talking about Nutro & this vomitting 'syndrome'. She has been on Nutro for at least 18 months (primarily the lo-cal one, tho occasionally we add the lamb & rice one in). We put her on the lo-cal because it was hard to maintain her weight & this product seemed to do it effectively & she seemed fine. As she is a show dog & we train her in obedience/agility, she gets addt'l calories from 'training treats'. I'm now very curious if the problem is all Nutro foods or just specific ones within the line--plus it's curious that we're just starting to see this more frequently after she's been on it for so long. She has just come out of heat & we've been feeding her earlier at night so it's a longer time between meals. Additionally, she's been bugging us for more food between meals . . . I wonder if it's processed faster or???? I'm going off to the vet to discuss & check her weight to see if she's much lower than she has been. I will contact Nutro - thx to everyone for their postings as it does help all of us focus in quicker on potential causes of problems.
Jakesire 02/14/2007
Nutro Max review: Insufficient meat products, extensive use of wheat and corn, fats of unidentifiable origin. The first ingredient in the food is a named meat ingredient. There is a further named meat ingredient 8th on the ingredient list, but it is unlikely that this represents a substantial amount of the food. Wheat is the main grain in the food. Wheat flour is a grain fragment (filler). The use of wheat is a significant negative however: wheat is believed to be the number one cause of allergy problems in dog food. Whole wheat is also used in the food. Poultry fat is an ingredient of unidentified origin for which it is impossible to determine source or quality. Unidentified ingredients are usually very low quality. Corn is difficult for dogs to digest and thought to be the cause of a great many allergy and yeast infection problems. Corn gluten meal is the dried residue from corn after the removal of the larger part of the starch and germ. In plain English, that which remains after all the nutritious bits have been removed. Rice is a decent grain. I would prefer to see the use of whole eggs than egg product. The above excerpt is from www.dogfoodanalysis.com. This site rated Nutro 2 out of 6 stars. (check this site out to make an informed choice) Some of the 5 and 6 star rated foods from above site: Nature's Variety, Orijen, Solid Gold, Timberwolf, Artemis, California Natural, Canidae, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Evangers, Fromms, Go Natural, Innova, Merrick, Natures logic, Wellness. Some of the 4 star rated food: Blue Buffalo, Dr's Foster & Smith, Natural Balance, Performatrin Ultra, Pinnacle, Premium Edge, Sensible Choice The above foods have more calories per cup of food than the cheaper grain based foods. Usually about 450 quality cal/cup versus an empty nutritional 350 cal/cup. Therfore less food is needed to maintain weight, this offsets the slight added cost. Good luck on your choice.

I switched my labrador (slowly) to Nutro Natural Choice Lamb & Rice. After a few weeks she started throwing up undigested food and yellow bile. This went on for a few days, I switched back to the old food and she stopped having those problems. I've recently put her on Canidae and she has way more energy and a shinier coat than she did before. My dog eats some human food and occasionally gets into deer droppings in the woods - she doesn't throwup that but she throws up Nutro, keep that in mind if you are considering purchasing Nutro.
Tia 02/11/2007
I tried Nutro Natural Choice with my 3 year old Shihtzu. I started noticing her throwing up yellow bile about 1-2X per day. I thought that she was getting into something outside or somewhere in the house. I now am switching her to Canidae.
mooingcow 02/11/2007
Tried Nutro Max Beef and Rice. My dog puked and would have looser stool about 2x a week. It also made her coat much waxier. We think that she's a mix of lab and greyhound. She liked the taste and would eat less of it, but that's about the only positives to this food.
savethepets1 02/10/2007
I had my reservations about the claims that Nutro makes. After I switched my Golden Retriever his coat began to look shinier and the itching and hot spots went away. After 2 months I knew it wasn't a fluke that he looked so good. The real benefit to me is that he smells better. Having a healthy coat and healthy skin helped to get rid of that "wet-dog" smell. Thanks Nutro!

Our chihuahua vomits yellow bile once per day, every morning. We have been feeding him Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites, Lamb and Rice formula. We are switching to another brand.

I am so glad that I found this site. I wish that I had found it before spending $200 at the vet trying to determine why my Jack Russell was vomitting bile two times a day. After reading the posts here, I changed his food. That was two days ago and he has not vomitted since!
snoopsnoop 02/06/2007
I personally dont like Nutro foods. There is way more hype about these foods than actually benefits the dog. The ingredient list, I admit, is OK (nothing more) and the ULTRA is mostly rice--not good. There are better foods for the same price as Nutro and are of higher quality. But quality is not my only beef with Nutro. They claim to have the best looking coats compared to most other dog foods fed without additional supplements. My dog looked like garbage on Nutro foods. He was eating the Natural Choice Dental Care for a short time--about a month--to try it out, and as a cheaper good food between my regular dog food, Merrick (5 stars!!). His coat was dull, his skin was flaky, his poos were loose and MUCH stinkier than anything he has EVER been fed. And after reading some of the reviews and thinking, my dog did do the "yellow vomit" thing for the month he was on Nutro. I just thought he wasnt eating early enough. But I changed foods and it disappeared and I didnt think anything else of it. Now reading this, I will advise people I see buying Nutro foods.
Benyamin 02/03/2007
I started my Wiem puupy on Nutro Ultral food which I had to go thru a lot to find the Large breed puppy kind. He did not want to eat it first and and I had to feed him in my hands. My puppy has dihrea ever since and finaly per my Vet I changed the food to the regular Nutro Natural Choice Lamb & Rice. Although I am starting little by little to change to the new food over but his dihrea is gone!! If you have a Wiem, make sure to feed him Lamb & Rice since this breed was on this diet back in Germany.
