His work ethic is an example of his dedication for his country. Wish more politicians and business leaders had even a fraction of Bush's work ethic.

I'm not the biggest Bush fan, but not all of this supposed "vacation time" was actually for pleasure purposes. It's been documented that he has conducted business meetings and such on his Ranch and at Camp David. Maybe he just doesn't like staying at the White House 24/7, and who could blame him? It's called a change of scenery, it doesn't mean he completely stopped working every time he went out of town.

I suppose he should get some credit for his willingness to delegate to his staff.

Wrecking businesses and affording a drug habit must have been very time consuming. . .

Piss poor. Unless yard work around the ranch counts. Djahuti is right and that is in just six years.

first off, I have to make comment about the people who think that the president takes vacations all of the time, (the Michael fatbutt Moore angle) Have any of you went on vacation from your jobs?? is it not a benefit given to you by your place of employment to have a time of rest from your mundane jobs? Try and handle the WHOLE of the United States issues! do you think maybe if you was in that position that you would need to get away to ponder how to handle things, examine your personal goals about how to handle it, and come to conclusions about why you would want to make this decision. C'Mon people. This is such a liberal conservative hating perspective to justify another reason NOT to agree or even like Bush. I personally would rather see him on vacation working out issues in his heart, than to have him stressing out making wild calls on the floor. To me this just shows the integrity of the man.

Bush's motto could be: Work Smarter, Not Harder. Apparently he embodies this motto by not working hard at all himself, but instead cleverly finding others who will work like dogs to do his bidding. Then, he goes on vacation to Crawford.

It is well documented that this president takes more vacations and other time off than any president in modern history. Not only is he dumb, he is also lazy.

He doesn't seem to be a very interested commander-in-chief. I don't downplay the need to delegate authority. Jimmy Carter was a president who would micromanage everything, from military operations to who would use the White House tennis courts. An executive has to save his energy for important decisions. In Carter's case, he simply became overwhelmed and he couldn't handle all his responsibilities. In Bush's case, he simply doesn't care about the nuances of certain issues. His philosophy is that issues can be worked out within management, but in government sometimes an executive needs to be a referee in these fights so they can be concluded with a unified policy. Bush relies too much on a small clique of inner advisors like Dick Cheney and Condoleeza Rice who don't give him differing viewpoints. To top it off, those at the outer periphery like Colin Powell and his State Department are shut out of a lot of important decisions, making this White House much more fragmented than is usual. Principle is more important than being right most of the time and domestic politics plays too much of a role in determining the outcome of high political decisions. It might help that he do his homework a bit more and ask the right questions of his cabinet secretaries and advisors.

Lately he's had more work to do it seems, but we always used to hear about him being at Camp David or in Texas, or sleeping!

How about another round of golf Jr? It's just a little war and it should be over in thirty days. Has all of this allowing your administration to walk all over you tired you out? Why not retreat to Camp David for a spell and let someone take care of you for a while?

365 days in a year, and he spends 200 of them playing country squire at his Texas ranch. This while we send our youth to face death in the Middle East and terrorists still have us in their sights. "Nuff said.
