His record at Youngstown should have forewarned doubters. Winning a national championship at the 1-AA level (or DII or DIII) is a monumental achievement. He did it more than once! In an age of flash, Coach Tressel is substance. He is right up there with Stoops or Spurrier or any of them on X's and O's. But the greatest thing he did at OSU is immediately restore (and add his own) traditions. The little things he has tried to re-establish, coming from a lesser coach, would be percieved as corn. Coming from him, it's gospel. Buckeyes everywhere have bought into his sincere "let's all pull together" philosophy-- "IN JIM WE TRUST!" (Woody's up there beaming...)

I understand that folkd (Miami, Oklahoma, Iowa and USC fans) like to criticize the team and the Nat'l championship victory, but c'mon, the Bucks were suppossed to get killed, and in the end they won, when we talk about bad calls, I have a lengthy list of missed calls agains Miami that would have ended the game in regulation. As a coach, it doesn't get any better, if you don't believe me, go to a home game and watch the tradion that now exists. See how the players and Tressel sing the alma mater with the band at the end of games, the fan base has always existed, but now there is true class. Granted, he does need to shut Clarett up more often. And for my final piece of evidence notice that his new contract, while a big raise, does not make him the highest paid coach in the Big 10 (+1), and the fact there is only one bonus for on the field performance, all other bonuses are accademic merit. Go Bucks, In Tressel We Trust!!

Thank God we have Jim Tressel. He turned around the sunken ship left behind by Cooper, and created a high calibur defensive ball team, complete with gritty and hard hitting ballplayers. Any one who watched the National Championship Game will have seen what Tressel has brought to the table. The energy, and the effort that Cooper never had, and something we havent had since Woody Hayes. He's the best damn coach in the land.

I thought he did a great job in preparing for teams. The only reason he isn't a 5 is because of his failure to corral his players in the media. Part of being the man is making sure everyone knows you are the man - he didn't do that with his team all the time. Finally brought Ohio State's status up to what the Ohio State fan's perception. Can he keep it up?

Obviously he did an outstanding job at leading OSU to a National Title in his second year. Was it luck? Was it because of players from the previous coach's recruiting class. Give it a couple of years to see if he can keep the ball rolling and win on a consistent basis. If he does then he deserves a five star rating.

Tressel hasn't proven himself. The National Championship was a good showing, but it was a game of inches. Miami played one of their worst games of the season, not to mention a TERRIBLE call at the end of the game.

Who....hoo ....he win's a title so he's a great coach.....ANYONE can recruit to OSU, and he had a cupcake row schedule....we'll see if he can stay on top and THEN I'll show respect.

The guy's a winner on the field, and he does it the right way, off the field.
