 | lmorovan (12) 05/16/2008 | Jupiter's significance in future space exploration is more appealing for its moons that the planet itself. From Io, with massive and extraordinary volcanic activity which may turn out to be virtual furnaces of metal extraction and processing, to Europa which seem to contain frozen water miles deep, and could become a major water supply for planetary explorations. Great resources potential.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 09/10/2007 | I looked through a home telescope one time, while at a friend's house, and saw the moons of Jupiter orbiting around this magnificent planet. This was an experience that I shall never forget.

 | JonTheMan (27) 12/15/2003 | Has a clear size advantage and has the most interesting moons, furthermore it takes quite a few hits for us as far as wayward asteroids are concerned. However if I went there I'd likely be crushed painfully into a few atoms by the ungodly gravitational pull, which loses it a star...

 | StanUzbeck (14) 11/19/2003 | It's hard to slag Jupiter. It is the king of the planets, and it protects us like a benevolent older brother. Seriously, Jupiter's gravitational pull diverts comets and large meteors that might otherwise crash to earth at a little over 400,000 mph, causing widespread mayhem and the end of life on earth. So Jupiter has my vote for planet of the year, for this year and every year to come. If only it weren't that ugly orange and brown swirl. Oh well, who among us has any right to complain about its lack of taste. Jupiter is the man.

 | BIGBABY (10) 06/06/2003 | I suggested to RateItAll to include planets on the site. Jupiter is one of the more interesting planets. It has many moons, one of them, Europa, is known to have water on it. Life could be on it, under the layer of ice on it. Many people think that you can walk on Jupiter. Actually, Jupiter is made up of millions gases that are all grouped together. Only the core of Jupiter is hard. Millions of rings surround the planet. 1 star was taken off becuase of too much popularity.

 | Cross (0) 06/02/2003 | Jupiter is the most important not because of its size as the largest of the planets, but because of one of its satellites, Europa, appears to be the most likely place for extraterrestrial life in the Solar System.

 | reeny (3) 05/09/2003 | I am glad that we have Jupiter. I remember a couple of years ago when all of those meteors or asteroids were heading towards Earth and they would have hit and possibly destroyed Earth, but Jupiter with its massive size shielded Earth and saved the day. My hat's off to Jupiter.
