Surrounding communities Roseland and West Pullman, once solidly middle class back in the Leave it to Beaver days are now very urban hard core. The south side is disdained, feared and looked down upon. Pullman would be as good a place as any to start a real comeback in the far south side. Perhaps then it could spread to Roseland and West Pullman and be more working class friendly than the trendy hot spots on the north side. I highly recommend a walking tour of the neighborhood because of the unique architecture described so well by Hendo.

Much of the neighborhood has been preserved or restored, though some buildings, such as the Pullman factory, have seen better days. It really is one of the most unique neighborhoods in Chicago. If only they would open up some bars and restaurants to attract people into the neighborhood.
