The Three Strikes and You're Out Rule should really apply here.

I love it when I talk during a movie. My fiance hates it, but what does he know?
moviefan45678 02/18/2004
Since movie prices and refreshment prices have sky rocketed over the years can't the owners bring back ushers to tell people to be quiet and not kick chairs? Hire some low cost retired folks to remain in the theater during the movie. Or how about providing wireless headphones to everybody so we can hear the audio? Just my thoughts! moviefan

There is a group of me and a few friends of mine...3 all together that rent movies about once every two weeks. We chat and yap all the way thru them. We do this on purpose, cause we know most other people hate it, but mostly cause we like discussing the movie as we are watching it. But if I am watching a movie with someone outside of this circle, I don't peep a word, it is common respect and KNOWLEDGE to shut the hell up during a movie.

I have certain members in my family that will strike up a loud conversation while we are watching a movie at home. The most annoying thing is when someone leaves for say, oh half an hour, comes back, watches for to seconds and then loudly states This god D*** movie makes no sense!! No names involved *COUGH* my grandpa *COUGH* sorry about that cough there, inevitable.
Satans_bitch_6 66 02/04/2004
OMG this must b the most annoying thing in the world!!!!!!!!
jporterTN 01/29/2004
No one likes to hear the plot 2 seconds before it appears on the screen. If you have to have a conversation, rent a movie and stay home.
curlylourdes22 12/31/2003
The people with kids should not bring them along to a movie for adults. There is just no way to avoid not talking during the movie if you have to communicate to your kid to behave or the like. It aggravates me when the kids are misbehaving and the parents have to talk loud to them to be quiet or whatever. I know if I ever have kids I will not take them to a movie I want to watch unless I'm treating them. As for adults talking in the movies, I don't mind. The only thing that would annoy me is their conversation being loud enough for me to make out what they are saying. Movies are usually high volume anyway so I can never make out what anyone is saying.

snipers should be placed in movie theaters taking out all the talkers

about a week ago I went to the movies to watch Matrix Reveolutions. Awesome movie...but i had to watch it three times in order to be able to catch it all. i dont pay the amount of money that i do to go see a movie just to see the movie and listen to your own personal audio rather than whats scripted. i dont care what you ate, how you date went, whta your kids are doing or how horny you are. I pay to see a movie to be able to sit, relax and enjoy it. not to hear about your day and how you are feeling or what you think.

Rude. Stop it.
tvtator 11/10/2003
This is just rude. An occasional whisper is ok, but basically the only talking I want to hear are the actors on the screen.
President -X-D 09/08/2003
This drives me crazy whether I'm in the theater or at home. The films I like demand full attention and when someone starts blabbing I want to reach for a rusty knife.
forgotten hero 09/07/2003
I hate these people. I don't care if it's a baby crying because it's a baby and yelling at it won't solve anything. But if it's an adult then they should show some respect and either turn off the cell phone or just shut up all together. Do these people actually believe that I care about what they think? When I'm watching a movie I only care about what the people on the screen have to say.
afireinside 09/07/2003
Out of consideration for others, people shouldn't talk at all during a movie. It's okay if you whisper a word or two occasionally but to talk constantly is to make a nuisance of yourself. What I also find annoying is people who make loud noises when chewing their food or fidgeting with their food packaging.
ClassicTVFan47 08/10/2003
There's no need for this! It seems that people aren't intelligent enough any more to follow the plot of a movie, and always must ask. Just sit back and enjoy it, don't question. And, don't even get me started on how annoying cell phones in theatres are...
Daryl 07/16/2003
It all depends on the movie,i'll use Russel Crowe as an example. If you talk during "A Beautiful Mind" i'll slap you.But if you talk during a fight scene in gladiator I won't care because theres nothing to listen to.
Galomorro 07/07/2003

deie3 07/06/2003
it's not too bad when somebody asks what happened when they didn't understand it... or if you're in the movie theatre and people laugh and say something like, "HA! that's me!" It actually makes me giggle... maybe because I do that too sometimes. But when people just talk and talk you really just want to stop the movie and yell at that person for being a moron.
KoRnChild70 06/05/2003
ANYONE WHO TALKS DURING A MOVIE DESERVES MY FOOT IN THEIR AS*. SHUT UP WHILE THE MOVIE IS ON. YOU CAN MAKE OUT, HAVE SEX, OR DO SOMETHING QUIET. JUST DONT TALK, AND TURN OFF THE DAM* CELL PHONES. QUIT INTERRUPTING THE PEOPLE WHO WISH TO WATCH THE MOVIE. ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE SEEING IT FOR THE SECOND TIME AND LEAN OVER TO ME AND SAY, "WATCH THIS PART! OH THIS IS WHEN..." NO, THIS IS WHEN I RIP OUT YOUR THROAT. SHUT UP DURING THE MOVIE. THIS SHOULD BE A LAW.

The worst habit. . .slightly worse than bringing a 2-year-old to an expensive restraunt.
RebelYell1861 05/15/2003
I wanna turn around and slap the folks that do this.
Snoopy 05/07/2003
This is one of the main reasons why I never go to the movies anymore. I am tired of paying a lot of money to see a film and having it ruined by some chatterboxes or someone talking or a cell phone or bored kids running around and playing. Talking in other innapropriate places like during church services and class drives me nuts too. If you can't save it for later, then take it outside. Don't be inconsiderate.
Solenoid DH 05/03/2003
Very rude, and let's not just limit it to the movies. On the subject of talking, some people think the Bible just warns us not to say "bad" things. But in fact, the Bible warns against talking TOO MUCH, period. One reason I like Calvin Coolidge so well is because he believed a person can avoid all kinds of problems by just realizing when to keep his mouth shut.
Vudija 05/03/2003
This is the reason I don't spend outrageous amounts of money to go to the theatre. Why spend my money, when I probably won't be able to hear whats going on, on the screen? I just go to blockbuster once a week, rent the movie I want to see for $4, buy some popcorn, and go home to my cozy QUIET house and watch my movie without interruption. Everyone should try it...It's great!
kamylienne 04/03/2003
If someone's going to talk in a theater, the least they can do is keep it down so that only their neighbor can hear. One or two sentences passed through the movie in this manner isn't bad (I'm sure I've done this a few times), but a full-fledged conversation does not have a place in the theater. When getting up to excuse yourself to the bathroom or whatever, a few discreet "excuse me"'s are in order, and I don't those. When the cell phone is whipped out, that's when it gets annoying. Unless they're on call for an extreme emergency (like if someone's in a hospitol), then there's no excuse, and if someone is in that important of a situation, what are they doing watching a movie, anyhow? What's even worse--when someone takes their cell phone out to PLACE a call while watching a movie. If someone doesn't like the movie that much, then why'd they pay $8.50 to see it? Heck, why are they still in the theater?
j777 03/11/2003
O MY GOSH MY MOM DOES THIS ALL THE TIME!!! I MAKE THE VOLUME LOUDER. THEN SHE GETS LOUDER AND IT'S LIKE WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?! SO I JUST WATCH WHEN SHE'S NOT AROUND. THE THING I HATE THE MOST ABOUT PEOPLE WHO TALKS IS WHEN I WATCH AN EXCITING MOVIE AND SOME FOOL KILLS IT BY TELLING EVERYONE WHAT'S GONG TO HAPPEN GOSH THAT JUST KILLS EVERYTHING!!!!
ChunkyLover53 02/09/2003
Note to chatterbox in theater:I did NOT pay an outrageous amount of money to sit and listen to you sit and yak away! Either shut up or go outside, please.
BIGBABY 02/02/2003
I agree with CastleBee 100%. If you do this, you should be sent home without any discount. This is very rude and annoying to put up with.
lukskywlkr. 10/24/2002
Aren't we supposed to give five stars if we really hate something? Well, anyway, next to smoking this is one thing that will just about drive me up a frickin' wall. I hate it when people who have been watching the same movie that you have ask you what's going on. I mean, it's the same movie for everyone. If you are too dumb to follow it, leave! I personally think anyone caught saying more than five words during a movie ought to be shown the door.
Lord Luzifer 08/29/2002
it would annoy me alot.. but when watching a bad movie it's fun to make fun of it, so..
r_mitchell 08/23/2002
A little talking is ok but a blabber mouth needs to be shocked. It's rude to me and the people around us.
Janey_Lane 06/09/2002
This is a habit I shamefully admit to having on occasion. I usually try to limit myself to whispering. When I do it it's ok (yeah right!) but I can't stand when other people do it. It is a horrible habit that disturbs the people around you immensly and you come off looking like you have no respect for others. Then again, if there are few people in the theatre, and they're far away from you, it's almost acceptable.
CastleBee 06/06/2002
Here’s my theory on this obnoxious group… usually living under the delusion that everything they say is interesting and/or important. These people also tend to think it’s impossible to actually have an unexpressed thought. Should be removed from the theater and sent home.
