Dizzy Dean dominated batters during his career, which included a 1934 National League MVP award. He led the league in wins twice and strikeouts on four occasions. He won 20 or more games four straight seasons. and was a four-time All-Star.

Only Dizzy Dean and the rest of the Gashouse Gang seemed able to compete with the fearsome New York Yankees of the 1930s. And appropriately, Dean's name is the most prominently mentioned as he was a pitcher who played mind games with the great batters of his era. A big game specialist with a take-no-prisoners style of play, Dean was a man hell-bent on winning. And for this, he was truly one of the greatest.
