From day one I have had problems with DISH Network. I spent 2 hours on the phone just trying to activate service. Every time the agent would put me on hold, they would hang up on me. I had to call back in 4 times (and start all over again with the new agent). I was told this company is not allowed to make outbound calls. What call center cannot make outbound calls? If it wasn't for my apartment having a contract with them, I would have never gone with them. Luckily I am now moving so I wouldn't need Dish anymore. Well trying to get the account cancelled was also a nightmare. I was told I could only call within 30 days of cancelling. So I called back in that time frame. The idiot who I had talked to previously cancelled my auto-pay giving me a late fee. I never said anything about billing when I called in the first time to cancel. So we start going through the cancellation and they tell me they are going to send me boxes for all of my recievers. They told me they would only send 2 boxes (I have 3 receivers). And of course that created another problem on my account. Finding out that when I called in once before about having problems with one of my receivers they ended up messing up something on my account. Finally they tell me they will let me know how much I will need to pay to finish out my account. They ended up rushing me off of the phone telling me they will mail it. I call back, they tell me a different cancellation day then what I told them. Trust me if you have a choice to go with someone else, I would highly suggest it. These people do not know what they are doing, most of the time you get idiots from another country that can hardly speech english. Dish Network sucks!

Dish Network is the worst TV provider in the whole world. I've never had such terrible customer service. They don't know what they're doing and if they feel deem, they will charge you up the @$$ for money they THINK they should be charging. I hate them with a passion.

Steer clear of this company! I was impressed by their 200 channel package for 44.95/month plus $5 for an additional receiver - equal to what I was paying per month for cable - and switched to their service. Dish Network did not explain to me that 1) I could have a DVR with this package at no additional charge, or 2) that it would cost me $5/month additional since I do not have a land line phone, or that 3) local channels would cost me $5 additional per month. On top of that, they raised their rates 5% after I was a customer for just 2 months. Why? So they could entice more new customers with a $9.99/month for 6 months package and have me help pay for it! As of now I am paying $13 per month more for service than I paid for cable. These folks will treat you no differently; if you are considering their $9.99 "deal", rest assured that they will end up getting their money back from you. I have 21 months left in my contract with Dish Network and plan to switch back to cable service at that time - I'll then be spending less for the same service and be dealing with an outfit I can trust.

This is probably the worst company i have dealt with yet. Similar to other people's problems I have read on this site, I contacted Dish Network to cancel my service because i was moving to another state. The service operator told me that I had fulfilled my contract and I would not receive an early termination fee. Six months later i receive a phone call from a collections agent informing me that I owe $53 for early termination. After getting mad at the collection agent (which i should not have), I contacted Dish Network to try and resolve the "situation". I was then put in touch with their sub-contracted call center that was unable to even tell me if they sent me 1 notice by mail or by phone of the outstanding debt. After arguing with the young lady, I was finally able to get in touch with a supervisor who then told me they had sent me 1 notice to my old address and that was it. They had my new address in their system because the collection agent received it from Dish Network. I will never use this company again ! As for their actually television service, my reception would go out anytime a strong wind would blow. Their channel selection was good, but that will be the only thing positive i say about this company.

man I am surprised of all of the hatred for this company. Im wondering if its not more of a regional problem. Im actually a tech for them and 99% of the people who I talk to who have them love it. Im sorry to hear of all of the issues you guys are having, I know recently they have been doing a good amount of changes to help increase customer service quality so hopefully that helps

Stick with cable! dish offers a low introductory rate however in their contract they can change rates and service at anytime which they do, then charge you a much higher rate as well as for services that you don't order. If you refuse to pay the higher rate they will then charge your credit card up to $1,600 for the dish install. Not only are their billing practices unethical you will lose your service when the wind blows, rains or snows. If you live in areas with tornado or huricanes this can be dangerous since you can't get up to the minute information.

Burned By Dish network!
Yes, I had a contract with them. I was in the process of moving and called to see if I had any time left to end my contract with them. The Dish Network agent informed me that I had fulfilled my required time of service with them. I informed the Dish Network agent that I would like to cancel my service with them. That should have been the end of it.

A year later a collection agency come after me for $200 early termination fee! I tried to resolve it with Dish Network and Yes, they had record of me canceling my contract about two months before it was over. I was very aware of the early termination fee and would have never canceled my contract if I had been told that I had two months of service left. So why had that Dish Network agent given me a different story when I called to cancel service?

I believe they were very aware and were going to extract the most money they could out of me.
You decide.

Once again Dish TERRIBLE Network has refused to replace or refund me for my equiptment I sent to them in error. Despite my filing a Better Busines Bureau Complaint, they simply off an apoloogy for inconvience. The took my personal property and destroyed it without any notification to me, in any form, by any route. I mistakenly sent my DVD recorder with a harddrive to them. It looked similar to the dish receiver I was returning to them and I just packed the wrong one. They were both out of my media tower, which I was rearranging after switching to DirecTV. They continue and adamantly refuse to cpensate me or replace MY DVD recorder with harddrive. THe show a total disregard for other's personal property, yet would charge me without hesitation for keeping and destroying their property.

I have been a DishNetwork customer for seven years. I cancelled my service due to an impending move out of state. I called DishNetwork to cancel my service. When I received my next bill, it threatened service disrpution due to late payment. I had not paid late, and it's difficult to impose a service interruption when the dish was off, voluntarily, requested by me. I refused to pay the bill at that time because of the "Disruption of Service" notation, which I find to be offensive. I requested that Dish correct this billing and delete the notation. Also, the bill outlined service beyond the time that I had requested that it be discontinued.

It has been two months now, after three phone calls and an email, and Dish still cannot seem to figure out how to send an accurate bill and how not to offend a previously loyal customer.

My hope is that someone at Dish will read this review and will have the intelligence to be able to modify the bill so that it is accurate.

This company is slippery. First I should say that I have no other experience with any other satellite or cable company to compare them with. But they are weasels. Been with them 9 months and on my current bill they changed my programing to a more expensive level. The promo that I originally got, for signing a 24 month commitment, gives me a free month credit on this bill. A price increase along with an additional 5.99 insurance charge( another promo that ended) nets out to less, but close to what I normally pay. But next month, with-out the advantage of the credit, my bill soars. Is it a coincidence that they accidently change my package, raise the price, and have a new charge come due when they can hide it behind a credit? Just look at the complaints others have reported. By the way this is not the first time they have over charged me.
If you are considering signing a 24 month commitment read the fine print. It says, " We reserve the right to change prices, packages, and programming at any time, including without limitation, during any term agreement period to which you have agreed." That basically means that the deal you sign with them, they can change it whenever they want. But if you want out there is a cancellation fee and a prorated recouping of the waived service connection fee.
Another thing, we are in the middle of a severe recession and they raise my rate 10%. The way this company does business is exactly what is a matter with America today. No honesty, no integrity, I trust them less then a Wall Street investment banker.

0 stars. I have had Dish for 8years now. But I would have to say in the last 3 years it has hit the ditch. I have 4 receivers and now a dual receiver that is the issue. After being talked into the "great" receiver, "your going to love it" it has been one call to complain after another. Back in August of 08 the tech came out and installed the new dual receiver, worked when he left and by that evening no picture. I called and the cust/serv said a tech would come out the next Thursday(7days) and that is the only day avail. Ok, so you need to pro-rate the time I do not have service. The rep said the tech would issue the credit. Nope, that next Thurs the tech informed me the reps would issue credit. Now I have to call again and argue for the $40. One month later I get a phone call for the (dead) receiver. I explain to the rep the tech took the receiver. The next call was on a saturday to say I have to return the receiver or I would have to pay for it. HELLO, anybody listening, the tech took the receiver. Then I get an empty box from dish via UPS. I call again and the rep said it is for the receiver. After loosing my temper(again)I asked him where in the world he is at, he said INDIA. Sorry, I cannot understand you, please transfer me back to the states, he did and said he would note the account tech took receiver. Back in the states, the rep said she would call the tech department and open a ticket to find the receiver. Now we are going on 2months by then. In late October I get another phone call, where is the receiver or we will charge you. No way, calls calls, and not one person ever told me they had charged my cc by then. It wasn't until I literally was screaming on the phone to someone in the Philippines that they transferred me to an ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE and that is when HE told me they charged my cc $300. HELL no you did not. He credited my cc back then. I told him "don't you think if I was going to steal a receiver from your horrible company it would be one that worked???? Don't do it, listen to me, do not get Dish service. It took me 4months to resolve the issue, and still I have since then had the receiver replaced again. AND it is still having issues with freezing up. "SHEESH"

I had dishnetwork for my required contract length - from the very beginning I received nothing but rude and unprofessional service. Despite the 18 month commitment I would have changed long ago - every time it rains the service is out. When I cancelled they offered to lower my bill but just couldn't compete with the great service I am getting from my new provider - Dishnetwork sent me the boxes to return their receivers etc I had to fight with them to avoid sending back the LBNF since it is on my roof, I also told them to come get the dish off my roof (that was the only way I could get them to not charge me for the stupid LBNF) I warn anyone thinking of getting this service that there will be "weather" interuptions and their channel line up isn't any better than any of the others as far as pricing goes once they add all their fees it ends up being more expensive than regular cable. If you call your local cable company many have bundle deals that beat dishnetworks pricing and they give free HD another perk is you can watch TV when it rains!!! I would definately read the fine print if you do decide to go with Dish Network

Have Dish250, local channels with 2 receivers and 3 TVs since Apr 2008, ie less that one year. When I signed up, checked about suspending service for vacation (month) and was told "no problem". Now Jan 09, customer service says no can do, you have less than one year on contract.

Is it me, or does Dish (and others) just want to extort money through arcane rules (marketing policy) designed to maximize profits but alienate customers. There is no flexibility in resolving customer issues. If it ain't in the book, it ain't gonna happen.

Add to that the poor reception during snow storms (southern edge of lake Erie). Loss of signal has happened 5-6 times from Dec-Jan. (Haha, sprayed/polished antenna with Rain-X in Oct after a bad rain interruption.)

Can't complain about the programming line-up or features. Better than Comcast cable programming.

Considering a switch at end of contract.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown! This is the whiniest website on the net! Does anyone have anything nice to say about anything at all? For those who are looking for a counterpoint, I offer the following: I was a DishNetwork subscriber for the duration of 18 months. Throughout that time, I experienced minimal outages (not more than 2 or 3 throughout my entire 18 months!) I found customer service wait times to be lengthy, but show me a company with short wait times, honestly! When I had a DVR receiver stop working shortly after install, they sent me a new one pronto, at no cost to me! Finally, when I terminated service (difficult budgetary decision), I explained to customer service that I had no way of retrieving the LMB arm off the dish, and they told me that was fine, no problem...I never was billed or charged for that. Okay, my experience wasn't perfect...Here are a couple of frustrations. I hated all the blackouts that came with the "multi-sport pack" but got to catch the end of an occasional Twins or Wild game that ran over the allotted time. Dish representatives were poorly trained to answer my questions about possible blackouts before I signed up. My Gophers were never blocked however, so I was thankful for that! Secondly, the price was high. I had to order many channels I didn't want just to be able to have the multi-sport pack, and that ended up jacking up the bill to an uncomfortable monthly rate. In sum, for those looking for some balanced opinion, I offer this: Dish Network offers a great satellite television experience with solid customer service and dependability. You will pay for it however, and I hope you won't have to cut TV out of the monthly budget like I did. If you do, remember your kids will love the time you spend READING with them. Remember that concept?

I've been a Dish subscriber for a couple of years. It has been OK, although I think it's expensive for what I get. But lately the Guide listings have been wrong, and customer support has been awful when I called to ask that it be corrected. First I was on the phone for 25 minutes while a tech was making me go through realigning the dish and a bunch of other useless stuff because he could not believe the listing was just wrong. Then he cut me off. I called again, and the woman who answered my call again refused to believe their listing was wrong. I asked to speak to a supervisor after 15 minutes, and got sent to voicemail - I left a long and detailed message and asked for a callback, but never got one.

I have called a couple of times since then, but was cut off twice.

I neven experienced this from Dish staff before. Looks like their customer service now sucks. I'm looking at DirecTV.

I have been a Dish subscriber since 1997. I have replaced the LNB myself and the receiver at my own cost. Then my distant networks go off. I call for the "free" dish upgrade so I can get my locals. Tech installs it and says I need a new receiver to make the locals work. I order one, pay fifty dollars for it, and then they fine me five bucks a month because they say I have an additional receiver. I have pleaded with them that I don't have two receivers and never have but they just won't take "NO" for an answer. However, my friend and neighbor is a highly competent DirecTV installer. Dish can kiss my ass.

DISH Autopay customer for 10 years. Top250, locals, lots of pay per view. Wouldn't you love to have a good customer like that? Wanted to bundle my dish into my phone bill. Was told I'd have to be a new customer to do that. Had been a little disappointed at the fact that new customers were being offered what sounded like outrageously good deals, and we were being offered crumbs. Anyway, decided to cancel the service and wait the 6 months. Tried making it happen today, and DISH says it CAN'T happen unless I have a credit card. Credit card Autopay with my debit card for TEN YEARS, still have my address and phone # in their system, don't want me to have DISH now. What a bunch of DUMBASSES! Must say, always had good service while I was a customer. Things started going wrong when I canceled.Guess I'll give DirecTV some money...

0 (ZERO) stars! We terminated the Dish Network service we had 8 months ago and ever since we started getting phone calls from them, asking us to sign up back with them again. One day we got 4 phone calls at once (it showed Dish Network on the caller ID!) and we decided to give it a chance to see which kind of deal they were going to offer. One woman kept my husband for 45 minutes on the phone offering a killer deal for us to go back and sign up with them again. In the package we could have the 2nd best channel package, 2 HD DVR's, brand new receivers at no cost for $56 a month! She even promissed local channels included in the package at no cost!! After 3 days without getting the local channels we called Dish Network to see what was happening and they said to us they did not know anything about that deal and that the woman had registered us to a trouble ticket call instead of installation call for the new DVR's! They said we did not qualify for that deal because those were only offered to new clients!! We paid them thousands of dollars throughout those 5 years and ended up being scammed like this!! They are paying those people out there to LURE you into going back with them, so they SHOULD be held responsible for it !! If you were SCAMMED by DISH NETWORK like this we can join forces in a class law suit against them. Just contact us at polkadotz37@gmail.com and sign up by telling us your story.

I actually have never owned Dish Network, but, i'm switching from DirecTV (which averages a whomping .28 stars better [1.97] than Dish Network) to Dish Network. I'm happy there are sites out there like this but this one proved to be the most popular and the most useless.

DISH Network is out to get as much money as it can. Their customer service is terrible. When you 1st sign up you have to mail in a coupon to get a reduction on your bill, that doesn't happen for two months, so you end up paying full price for the first two months, nobody tells you this when you this when you sign up. When you cancel at the end of your contact they charge you for a extra day even when you had no service.

Watch out and tell everybody to get another service and stay away from Dish Network.

Service bad, price high. My waiting time on the phone once was 40 min, they didn't have anybody available. They charge for every little thing without telling you. My average bil was close to $100/month, I was orderign the service for about $40/month, all this because of the additional charges. And if you cancell it before 24 months, they charge you huge cancellation fee calculated by some ridiculous formula they canot ever explain. Even if you go outside the US.

Where to start. First of the tech was over 2hours late. he was supposed to be there between 8am and noon, he didnt show up till after 2pm, thank god i didnt schedual this for a work day! I was supposed to get an HD DVR all i got was an HD receiver and the tech told me thats not his problem, that his work order didnt say DVR. and of course he didnt have one on his truck either. i discussed with the tech that we would put the dish a little further back from the edge of my deck so it wouldnt look so bad, he said that was fine and when i went back inside he put right on the edge of my deck, it looks horrible. the then drill right through my brand new vinyl siding he didnt even use a grommet to clean the hole up a little, just a ton of silicone. Oh and where he drilled the hole it went right through my baseboard so even if i wanted to use a wall plate, i cant unless i further cut into my baseboard. He ran almost 10 extra feet of cable into my house and i have no way of hiding it, i cant push it back through the hole or i will have the extra cable hanging out of the side of my house. i recently rewired my entire home theater to the point where you cannot see any wires, you can see everywire that he ran. we discussed hooking the wires up through my Pioneer Elite Receiver and that was not supposed to be a problem either, well that never happened. not that i cannot do it my self, but why even send this guy. i cant be the only person with a home theater. so when he went to hook up my second tv, which i thought was going to have its own dedicated line, he just drilled right through my hardwood floor and ran a line from one tv to the other, drilling two holes in my hardwood floor. in the process of him moving the second tv, he knocked 3 pictures down because he did not move them first. one of them broke. keep in mind that i was not over his shoulder the whole time which is how he got away with all of this. by the time i looked at everything he was done and packing up, i had faith that since this is his job that he would do a great job at it. not the case at all! i tried to get him to fix some of these things like the location of the dish and all the extra wire, at this point he was having a real hard time speaking clear english, go figure. he kept pointing to an 800 number on the back of the owners manual everytime i would say anything about the install. so i called them and sat on hold for over 45min just for them to hang up on me and when i called back all i got was another 15mins of hold music then a voicemail system, so i left a message (a calm one at that) and requested a supervisor to call me back.....and you guessed it, no call, not from anyone. finnaly i called them back today and supposedly they are going to mail me my HD DVR and they are going to have a supervisor call me so another tech can come and fix my issues and they say i will get $20 credit for the broken picture frame. we shall se.

well with my whoping four days of dish network service, my opinion is "what have i gotten myself into"? hopefully things will sort out but as of now i say dont get dish network. and if you do, or any other service for that matter, hold hands with the tech, they need love too. they are there for you and they should not leave untill you are satisfied.

What a bunch of idiots. The Customer Service is so bad, we cancelled our service less than 24 hours after we ordered it. It was never even installed. We ordered on-line and set everything up as we wanted. Someone from DISH called us and said you really need this and that and this, etc, etc. He said what I am giving you is better and it is for the same price. We then went on-line to look at our order and he had changed everything and downgraded our service for the same amount of money. We called three times wating on hold a total of 105 minutes waiting to speak to a person. Also, once the idiot started changing our original order, he also changed our original installation date but failed to cancel it at the same time. This means we had two installation technicians calling to confirm two different installations for two different days. Also, when you cancel, the idiots sit there and try and give you discounts to stay with them. They are relentless and annoying. They charged me $99 for the initial install for all of the items I had ordered. It took them less than 2 minutes to charge my credit card. When I demanded a refund they claimed it would take 7-10 business days. STAY AWAY FROM THESE IDIOTS.

Dish Network is terrible.  Not only do they treat their exsisting customers like crap, but now they have taken money from the Obama campaign.  Obama ( The Messiah ) has his very own channel on Dish Network.  It runs 24/7 Obama.  I was a customer of theirs for several years, but once they took money from a campaign, I made the switch to Direct TV.  That was the best thing I have ever done!  It is time to boycott Dish network for taking money from the Obama campaign.

Terrible service! I recently had a DVR receiver go bad. As a computer technician it was very obvious to me that the hard drive in the unit was failing. After explaining the symptoms to Dish they first agreed to send a replacement unit, and then changed their story requiring that I have a technician visit to confirm the problem, and if the receiver needed replaced he would have one in his truck. Even though I am paying dish for the insurance program, I am told I still have to pay for this technician to visit.

Several days later the tech shows up (requiring me to take a day off work). He agrees the receiving needed replaced however he didnt have one to replace it, so he called asking that they ship me one.

Apparently I didn't return the old one to Dish network fast enough so they billed $300 to my account, degraded my service to almost no channels, issued a shutoff date, and when I called I was told I could not speak to a manager about the issue until the account was paid in full. VERY RUDE customer service rep. filed complaint with BBB. DO NOT GO WITH DISH NETWORK!!!!!!

We have had Dish for years. There is always something wrong. Have called about our remotes for months and they tell me to go through all these checks thru the T.V. The remotes stick or don't work at all,its not the T.V. they will do nothing!! Finally got fed up with all the problems and switched to Direct T.V. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! All new equipment,no problems and they even have people you can understand when you call to talk to someone. I sent the recievers back like instructed. Got tracking numbers and watched when they were delivered. Called to make sure they saw they were recieved, they said no problem. Well now 1 month later they have billed my credit card for the recievers. I called and they say they will refund it but that does not help when it now over drafts your account. I will never refer anyone to Dish.

I had problems with customer service, and I canceled my account. When I returned the receivers by mistake I placed also my DVD player in the box. They received everything and now they do not want to return the DVD player back. The reason is: Because I canceled my account. It is abusive and illegal.
This in unfair business.

My family has had Dish Network for about 9 years now. We have never had a problem with this company. I do feel that dish has a better EPG than DirecTV so I have not intentions of switching in the future.

I'm pretty satisfied with my DISH Network, though I will point out the cable where I live sucks. I've had DISH a little over two years, and there have been some minor annoyances. It took them a little longer than they originally said for the installer to come, but when he did finally call and set up a time he actually got here about 3 hours early. If it's rains or snows really hard I do lose my signal temporarily, but that doesn't bother me any more than the crappy picture my old cable gave me with the same weather. The picture is much clearer and I like the wider choice of channels that are offered. I've had no problems with billing and no other customer service issues since having it installed. I guess the main complaint I would have is the same complaint I have with any service of this kind. I don't need a dozen shopping channels, two Spanish channels, a food channel, a dozen religion channels, or crap like Democracy Now. Take a few of those off and let me choose some channels I might actually watch.

I had Direct-TV for 8 years and never once had to call for technical issues. I have had Dish Network for 3 months and have had to call with problems 3 times. The last time they told me that there is a known problem with my receiver and they are looking into it. I asked what type of time frame I should expect for the problem to be corrected and I was told SEVERAL WEEKS! I told them that would be unacceptable and was told that they can send me another receiver, but since it will be the same model it probably will not work any better. Yet, they expect me to continue to pay for service (for several weeks) which is not functional? And, forget about trying to watch Dish Network if it is even remotely cloudy out. You will have far less frustration with an old antenna then trying to deal with Dish Network.

BEWARE! Dish network charged our credit card, and failed to show up for the install 3 times! We were told to be home between 8am - noon and at 5pm they still hadn't shown. The final time, we called to find our where they were and were told the account had been canceled! When we called this week to find out when we would see a credit on our charge we were told it was a non refundable "processing" fee.

When I got an promotion from cablevision $35, I called Dish to cancel and the guy in their cancalltion department gave me an "OFFER" of $35 per month to upgrade to HD to match. I wrote down his 3 digits rep ID. I called the 2nd day and had a lady confirmed this offer. HOWEVER, after they installed, I didn't find any HD programs and I called their customer service and being told the monthly bill with HD becomes $60!!! I gave them the 3 digit rep ID who made the offer, the so called account specilist said it's useless since there is no way I can get for $35 with HD and said that I am already commited to their 24 months contract and there will be a $240 cancalltion fee!! what a scam!! What upset the most is every time i called them, they gave me a different information on the new bill & service...!!!!!!!!! If you are going to deal with this company, you'd beter voice record every single call otherwise it never counts!!!!

We had the most awful experience with Dish Network. We had to call four times to successfully have an installer scheduled. Then, they "couldn't perform" the tasks that I was told they would do. He couldn't fish lines through the wall, and it didn't include the HDMI cables which were over $250 for all the TV's. They also told me that I would be able for the price of $965 hook up seven TV's, when in fact we could only get dish on 4 TV's. It would cost us $150 more to buy another receiver PLUS $12.00 more each month for the 'fees' for the extra TV's. The guy who came and installed the equipment was a nightmare himself. He was in a hurry, complained about his boss, how long it was taking him to do the job, and he even said that his boss texted him and told him that if he didn't finish with our house in 20 minutes he was going to fire him. After multiple (about 6) calls to their "support personnel" I got to a supervisor who told me all he could do was give me $60 off of my first bill. Then, I asked to talk to someone else and after explaining my entire story for the fourth time, I got a lady that gave me three months free billing (approx $250) worth. So, that was apparently the best I could get so I took it. I would not recomment this company to ANYONE! They lie, lie, lie, and it is ridiculous that they supposedly have the title #1 in Customer Satisfaction. MY ONLY ADVICE TO A FUTURE CUSTOMER...GO ELSEWHERE!

Terrible company with rude customer support. Looking for a provider of NBA League Pass, I decided to switch from my cable provider (that didn't have the package) to Dish. I also have a 3-yr prepaid subscription to TiVo. So, when I ordered Dish, I asked them specifically if their service was compatible with TiVo. I was assured that it was. I asked again before I agreed to my package because I didn't see anything on their webiste indicating they were compatible with Tivo; whereas, DirecTV specifically says that they are. Again, the salesman assured me, "No problem, absolutely!" So, I ordered the package.

Day of installation, TiVo is not working. Only now do the Dish people confess that it is NOT compatible with TiVo.  I call Dish up and ask them what they are going to do for me to resolve the problem. I told them that they either need to let me use one of their DVRs free of charge for the duration of my TiVo contract (even though TiVo offers more services than does Dish), or allow me to cancel without penalty. Dish would not agree to either proposition. Even though I am calling them on the same day as installation, and even though I ordered the service under false pretenses, they still require me to pay the $245 cancellation fee!!! I don't think so!! The customer service people even had the audacity to suggest that I was making all this up. I will fight this.

Bottom line: Dish will say and do anything to get your money.

I signed up for the Dish Network TV service, and had consistent technical support problems with it--nearly every day I had one problem or another with my service. By the time I gad made a series of calls to the network to resolve various service issues, I was completely fed up and told them I wanted to get out of the contract, and that I felt I should not have to pay a penalty fee as the network had not fulfilled a satisfactory service. I had always paid them promptly and had held up my end of the bargain, but they had provided a consistently inferior service and had not held up theirs. I spoke to several chains of management, they would not let me out of the fee. I resolved to pay it, just to have it over with. After cancelling the service, I received a final bill, which included a $75 charge for a damaged receiver from the last time I had made a tech support call and had been required to send in a functional receiver that didn't receive the correct stations. I do not feel I should be liable for the receiver. I always had problems with it, from the first day I had it, and I feel it was damaged on arrival. I feel they have provided me with an already-damaged receiver and are making me pay for it. The second receiver I received only worked for a couple weeks before it too stopped working. I do not feel I should have to pay for that either. I feel that I would probably not have been billed for the first receiver had I not cancelled my service, but that I am being punished for doing so. I also feel this is a terrible company with low business ethics and no regard for its customers.

If there was an option for a 0 star, i would have chosen that. What a terrible company. The customer services representatives are rude. I called Dish Network when I moved and it seemed like they offered great services but they never mentioned that they would be charging me a $49.99 non-refundable fee. All I was told was that it will be a rebate so my money will be paid back for checking my background. So, I sign up and then find out that Dish is not allowed to install in my building. Dish never cared to mention to me that this was even a problem with most management buildings! So, I called them so many times and requested to listen to the phone conversation as I am a very attentive person and I don't believe what they are telling me. They never granted me that. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! DO NOT GET DISH!

After tonight I recommend that no one gets service with DISH NETWORK!!! I found that their customer service really stinks!!! They are unprofessional, rude and incompitent!!! I was a good paying customer for over a year now, and then I recieved a bill that was incorrect and they were unwilling to fix it!!! It is really unfortunate since the extra balance they said was due is alot lower than what my monthly bill with Dish usually is. But since the manager I spoke to was rude, and speaking over me, and did not allow me to explain my complaint, I decided to cancel my service all together. It wasn't so much the error that was made since mistakes happen, but he was unwilling to admit this was an error on Dish Networks part and spoke over me, not allowing me to talk!!! I was extrememly disgusted on how he dealt with my husband and I!!!! We will never use Dish again, and I hope it was worth it to Dish, since they lost another customer! I'm sure it hasn't been the first time and it surely won't be the last!!!! Mr. CEO, so that you know, you are paying employees to get rid of your clients, my complaint might not seem to cost your company much now, but the route your customer service department is going will cost DISH a large loss if this continues!!! We would rather pay more and have professional people to speak to with good customer service than pay a cheaper amount!!! I guess the saying, You get what you pay for, is so very true!!! We will never use your service or recommend anyone to use it either!!! And we will inform our friends and family as well!!! Look forward to more cancellations!!

LESS THEN ZERO STAR

The most unethical company I ever ran across! Sooner than latter someone will file a class action suite and when they do I will be one of the plaintiffs.

For eleven and a half months after they installed the dish I had no service. They have extorted from me over $1500 in addition to the cost of installation. They are unwilling to give me any of my money back that they took out of my account and I have to pay them for additional 6 months of service and remove and ship them their equipment before I am done with my Obligation to Dish Network.

Why no service because the installation was not done correctly. I spent many many hours on the phone a good chunk on hold. Got hung up on innumerable times it appears they do not like to respond to complaints and just hang up after putting you on hold. Yup this is not an isolated practice but a systemic one happened to me too many times to be isolated instance.

I have had technicians make appointments and come visit the installation 11 times and each time I had to take time off from work to be at my house. Each time the problem diagnosis was different line of sight being the most prevalent one.

Oh no noooo this is not all they also cancelled appointments 6 times the same day of appointment in a few cases after the scheduled time slot of 8AM to 1PM or 1PM to 5 PM. And four times just simply no show. Calls after call to them and the infuriating hold time of on average 35 minutes.

Now for the really crown jewel - I was charged for the technician visit over and above the $150 monthly charge for the service WHY because I signed a service agreement with them for 18 months and I was according to them obligated to pay for the service. Mind you I had to maintain Comcast cable all this time to be able to have TV in my house so I paid for Comcast and for Dish Network as well.

By the 11th month I was infuriated and threatened to sue them after a one and half hour phone tag team play.. they agreed to sent a senior technician This technician cancelled two times showed up and diagnosed the problem as substandard cable (ie: they used cable from the dish that is not meet the specifications of Dish Network) and the original installer never installed a power supply thus I was not getting any signal. Two days later another appointment so that the technician could bring the equipment and install it.

So at last one week shy of one year later I had a working Dish Network service. I thereafter called them to discuss some credit for the time that I had no service (due to improper installation as determined). Absolutely NOT they tell me. They will not let me cancel my service before I pay for the full 18 months of service (i.e. for six months more)and I have to ship them the equipment including the two dishes attached to the roof some 35 feet above ground before my obligation to them is fulfilled. In other words, I have to pay for the cost of uninstalling the two dishes from my roof and removing and packing three receivers and cables etc. and shipping to them for before I am done

I have receiver VIP 211 issue which i discussed with customer service person on phone. The guy said that, technician will come and look at it and there will not be any charges. After technician troubleshooting he said that it is common problem with receiver and they will order new receiver. After couple of days when i look at the account statement online, there was charge of $29 for service call. Customer service lady says that even it is dishnetwork problem, you will get charged when technical come to your home and look at it.... Dishnetwork know, how to suck your blood.
