I have several reprint books with some of the earlier strips ('50s and '60s) featuring Violet and her friend Patty (not to be confused with Peppermint Patty). Like Lucy, their part in the strip was mainly to antagonize Charlie Brown. They served their purpose for a number of years in the strip. You didn't see them very much after the '70s, and they faded out of the picture, although occasionally there would be unnamed girls that resembled them. So, henceforth, they left Lucy on her own as Chuck's main tormenter, but she did the job quite well on her own.
