 | Ruby (16) 08/06/2003 | You gotta love the first Richard Hell record. Some of the most jarring but infectuous music and intriguing but annoying vocals. What a combination. Richard is also one of the best lyricists of all time. "Betrayal Takes Two" is awesome; "Blank Generation" a classic; and "Love Comes in Spurts" pretty hilarious. The next record, Destiny Street, is pretty strong as well if not as unforgettable. Hell benefited from having Robert Quine (sp?) on guitar - the guy that also gave that extra bite to Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend record, which probably would have been just another record of melodic power pop with him.
