One of the best dog food available.  The reviews are consistanly good.  The California Natural ingredients say it all.  My dogs love it. You can get free shipping on all California Natural dog foods at www.k9cuisine.com with a $50.00 order.

I have a senior dog who developed allergies to chicken, and she was 5 lbs overweight. I tried CN Herring & Sweet Potato and her scratching & hairloss improved with the first bag. She lost the 5 lbs also. We are currently trying CN Lamb with great results. We suppliment with 1/2 raw beef, lamb, elk, or bison. It is a simple diet with few additives and nasties. I give it a paws up!!

April 2006:
I fed my 5 cats the dry CN cat food and it was liked by them all and did not cause vomiting, but it did not get rid of my allergic cat's licking and itching as I'd hoped. What bothered me most was the ph of this food is too high. 3 of my cats developed urinary crystals and bladder infections while on this food (with ph of 7 to 7.5 as a result) and when I stopped feeding it and switched to PetGuard canned and Solid Gold dry their ph got back to normal and the crystals went away. Two friends of mine who fed CN and Innova to their cats also had bladder infections result so they also stopped feeding foods from NaturaPet. Great ingredients but the ph is too high. Update April 2007: After a year feeding Solid Gold and giving Ammonil and glucosamine supplements I am switching back to Cal. Natural cat food after the recent pet food recalls. One of my cats has permanent kidney damage from eating Nutro, and the allergic cat ate some Royal Canin Hypoallergenic food that is now recalled, thank goodness she shows no symptoms at this stage. I trust Natura and they make their own dry food and don't use Chinese ingredients nor glutens of any kind. I will try it again and with the help of the urine acidifier Ammonil I'm hoping she won't have bladder issues.

My black labs coat has never looked better. He is currently eating the herring and sweet potato food, and alternates with canidae lamband rice. Another 5 star food.

I am feeding california natural chicken and rice and my two boys (6 month old shih-tzu mix, 1,5 Jear old Lhasa Apso) love it.We tested Canidae(Boys simply didn't like the taste),Nutro( Lhasa started scratching),Eagle Pack ( seems to be not very tasty and Shih Tzu mix started scratiching). I brought home a sample of Caifornia Natural and was amazed that my two tiny dogs liked those big kibbles . My Baby is teething right now but he just had to crunch those big kibble instead of eating his old puppy food .
I tried to mix it in with the left over canidae but the boys picked out the california kibble .
Tear stains on the Lhasa seem to get better too and no scratching and feet licking. Fur looks nice and feels soft .
I wish they would make a smaller kibble for small breeds though - the kibble seem way to large for tiny Toy breeds..
Great food and awsome customer service.

I needed to make a wonderful comment about CN. I have been feeding my GSD puppy this food for the past couple of months and it has made noting but positive changes. Her coat is shinny and healthy, her nails have stopped cracking, her eyes are bright and alert and changing her to this food had no negative impact on her GI system. I work at an Emergency and Specialty Veterinary Clinic, and I need to inform some persons (sic'em Gracie) that Mastiffs, Great Danes and most other large breed dogs are notorious for flatulence and GI problems. If your dog is having GI problems, diarrhea, vomiting and constant bad gas, changing foods constantly is going to make things worse..... ahem Sic'em Gracie. If your dog, of any breed, has GI problems you MUST see a Vet! Do not keep changing your dogs food!

This is a terrific food especially if you want to give your dog quality ingredients without the whole "kitchen sink."

I think this food is OK. The only thing I dislike it that is has a pretty high grain content; a few dogs I know that recently switched to Cal. Nat. became suddenly obese despite the decrease in the amount of food they were recieving. Even though the grains are high-quality ones (no corn, wheat, soy, etc) it still outweighs the amount of protein in it. ***For more discussions on dog food, visit my DOG FOOD DEBATE web forum @ http://dogfood.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi ***

I started my puppy on this after trying to switch from Science Diet to Wellness. Wellness and my pup did not agree for some reason, and this was after a slow switch, and he still had loose stools after 10 days. I went back to the Science Diet and then introduced the Lamb and Rice Cali Natural and he had nice firm stools within one day.

This is a great food for dogs with allergies. Having few ingredients or supplements makes it easy to determine if an ingredient is triggering the allergy. Also, it gives the owner the ability to supplement to each dog's needs without the risk of over-supplementation. We've been feeding this to our highly allergic Chocolate Lab and our mixed breed for 6 months with wonderful results. The dogs love the food, always cleaning the bowls, and always recieve comments on their soft, shiny coats. This food produces small, solid stools, and the only time I noticed flatulance was when we were determining the correct amount to feed (which means overfeeding leads to flatulance, and the package feeding guidelines are VERY generous).

This food is great for dogs with sensitive stomachs! It only has four main ingrediants (none of which are fillers) so the dogs have an easy time digesting it. I would recomend this to anyone whose dog has a hard time holding down food.

Breeder recommended Pedigree Puppy, but we quickly learned that we were feeding Jackson corn and by-products. He is currently on California Natural, and we can not say enough good things about it. He is now regular, and has nice firm stools. His big-boy coat is almost in, and it is beautiful. California Natural is very basic, so we would like to put him on Innova in a few months. We are thinking of changing his food every 6 months or so, just in case the food is lacking in one of the food groups.

My epileptic boy has been eating Californial Natural Natural Reduced Calorie for about 10 months now and has been seizure free! I am thrilled with this food. The low protein and few ingredients have really agreed with my boy.

One of the cheaper 'human grade' dog foods- Ingredients are okay but I have to add KARMAorganics to get my dog to eat this.

Probably the simplest of the high end human grade foods. Chicken and Rice or Lamb and Rice. That's it. So as a first stage allergy formula or as a food for dogs was sensitive stomachs, it is top notch. Plus it is made at the Natura plant which means the facility is even rated to produce the organic food Karma.

I have fed this dog food for 2 years and find that for the price, you can not find any better. My dogs coats are shiny and my Beagle's allergies are much better. The only negative is, it is hard to find a store that carries it.
