The prices and service packs are rediculous. Nobody should have to pay $52 for basic cable. What is worse is that if I were a new customer I could save almost 60 a month. TIme Warner changed to comcast and the rate all went up. I have had cable in three different time zones, and this one is more expensive by $20 on basic cable. O

Comcast bought out Suscom in Mississippi. The month it happened Suscom told me they would give me a 6-month for $60.00 deal for Cable tv and Internet. Comcast billed me at the full rates and re-fused to fix the problem saying they knew of no such deal. I went back to Dishtv and DSL Bye Bye Comcast and there very bad customer service!!

I wont say I have never had a problem with the service, but I have always had great customer service when I called to complain about it... however, it did take a while to fix... and if you watch your bills and watch the prorating billing you will never have a problem with the billing... I so far never have had any!

comcast is shorthand for communist-broadcasting in case you didn't know. to date, comcast has not satisfactorily met any of their contractual obligations. over-billing for service, inept customer support, and frequent service blackouts are all common problems for comcast subscribers in my area ... and yet people still use them. i don't get it. a few years back i got fed up with comcasts "high-speed" internet and switched to verizon DSL. i couldn't be happier, not only does my DSL connection work 100% of the time, my bandwidth is constant. with comcast i observed a noticeable decrease in speed during peak hours, which apparently is from 4pm-12am. this means during those hours i'm unable to reliably game, or download anything above 35kb/sec. being more of a net addict than a tv addcit this was intolerable. it took another 3 years for me to drop my comcast cable service. i stuck with them for several reasons, mainly their kickass HD channel offerings and the on demand service. after three years i realised that i rarely used on demand as it was frustratingly slow. after i upgraded to HD i quickly got bored with their channels ... the ones that i could consistently watch anyway. every day at least one channel would be out, most frequently comcast sports and the two INHD channels. not a big deal, but INHD had alot of great documentaries on it and i was rarely able to watch them uninterrupted. the other HD channels were ok, but extremely limited in content. oh yeah, with one digital box, one HD box, and and the most basic programming package my monthly bill was in excess of 80 dollars a month. even though i had frequently been told by uninterested and uninformed customer service reps that my bill should've been hovering around the 68/mo range. comcast doesn't care about providing the customer with a quality service, they just want your money. once you wise up and cancel your service they're still not done with you. my last bill was supposed to be 29.97, instead my statement demanded 139.87. f**k that! their service isn't any better than anyone else's, it's just more popular. if you have HD and subscribe to comcast, you're getting screwed ... if not ... well you're still getting screwed. switch to satellite and you'll notice a huge difference. 100% all digital programming, more channel offerings, customisable channel lineup, more HD offerings, and a customer service staff that actually knows what they're talking about. these are some of the benefits of going to a dish, oh yeah and your pocketbook will feel better too. bottom line, only use comcast if there's nothing else available and you MUST have cable television. otherwise, f**k it. if we continue to put up with substandard service and pay for it, nothing will ever change. even cable tv service in china isn't so bad (and they really are communists). DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO COMCAST, AVOID THE HASSLE!

The fact that I actually get video on my television from Comcast is amazing. Actually, the video is generally fine. My issue is with Comcast's ability to provide a DVR Cable Box that actually works. I have had FIVE (5) cable boxes in the past 3 weeks and they all have strange problems. With the first box, the FastForward or Rewind would occasionally lock up and I would be unable to stop it from FastForwarding right through the program. On the second box, the Hard Disk (for recording programs) froze up completely. Another box I brought home and the video being displayed was just horrible. Whenever I call Customer Service they tell me that they think something is wrong with the VIDEO CABLE coming from the street and that a technician has to come out and look at it. WHAT?? Are you KIDDING?? If I plug the cable directly in to my television, the analog signal comes through fine. The show does not FREEZE because their is no Hard Drive to FREEZE up! The guy on the phone doesn't seem to get this. He won't refund my 3-weeks of non-DVR capabilities unless a technician comes out. What a pitiful company. My most recent Cable Box is having the same problem the first Cable Box had - getting stuck in FastForward mode. Be forewarned, they recycle these boxes with apparently little inspection. Maybe I got the first box back. :(

Comcast is a great company, I can't even say that the price is bad. It may be a bit higher than some of their competitors, but the customer service is bar none the best that I have ever experienced. Their channel line up is great, and is easy to navigate. They are constantly upgrading their service to make it better, quicker and easier to use. I did have to have a tech come over to check out my cable box one time becuase it had got wet (thanks to my wife watering a plant on top of it) I told him what had happend, he laughed about it and replaced the box free of charge. I am also having their internet installed this weekend. I ordered it a month ago or so, there was a mixup and they forgot to send out the modem. No biggie, as they were the ones who called me and admitted that there was a messup and are not charging me for the self install kit, and are providing (free of charge) installation. Most any other company would not even think about calling a customer up and admitting that they made a mistake, let alone offer at no charge additional service. Along with that the gentalman that I spoke to took the time to answer completely unrelated questions reguarding my own computer and was very good at explaining some things that I had no idea about. Believe me, I shopped around for internet before chosing Comcast, in fact, they were the last ones that I called. They were by far the most knowlagable, responsive represenatives that I spoke to during my quest to find my internet provider. A couple of the others that I spoke to just talked in circles about how fast their sevice was compared to Comcast but never provided any real data to support it other than repeating themselves over and over again. Overall, I feel that Comcast has succeded in meeting all of my expectations as a service provider, and has went above and beyond what would normaly be concidered decent costomer service. Reading some of the other reviews it has come to mind that it may possibly be a geographical thing with the service. I am very happy that I am in a part of the country were the sevice is well worth the five stars that I rated it.

Comcast, the company, sucks! Many of Comcast maintenance people are very good, a few aren't worth killing. I have Comcast cable TV and high-speed internet. The TV is good, the high-speed internet has been awful. The maintenance folks continue to work on the problems. Since Comcast is the sole provider in my part of the country, Hamilton County, TN, I'm stuck with the bastards.

The installer did not show after I sat and waited for 3 hours. When I called customer service they assured me that he did and I somehow missed him. ?!? Here is my favorite part, "Because you missed your appointment we will need to re-schedule." So...um...I'm going to miss another day of work for this. The biggest problem - I don't really have a choice.

Constant problems on the bill (by "constant" i mean every single bill for the last 8 months), intentionally difficult to reach a customer service rep on the phone, "faster speed tier" is a f***ing rip off (125kb per second is the fastest ive ever seen, yet I have no firewall or router), etc. To hell with CONcast. F***ing monoply.

Its Comcastic! Yeah, Comcastically bad service. My brother moved to New Mexico to bring the joys of satellite to a Comcast market and has them beat on price by 12-30 dollars a month depending on the services you get. Its only a matter of time before he becomes a satellite kingpin in New Mexico.

It's nice being able to record shows w/ DVR. HOWEVER, you would think that in this high-tech era, Comcast would have figured out some basic desires of their consumers. My biggest complaint: I can't set a show to record daily or weekly. Oh sure, Comcast CLAIMS I can, but in reality, it's a huge pain in the rear. For example, I like the Daily Show, and want to record it every day. But setting the Daily Show to record as a "series of recordings" means that I am stuck with a DVR recording of every syndicated episode every day. (I come home to 8 daily shows, and have to go through deleting them all. There is no option to set a show to record ONLY at a specific time. HELLO??? Even OLD SCHOOL VCR's had this simple function!

Last week I bought an HDTV, I called Comcast to find out about getting HD service and was pleasantly surprised to learn about their Video On Demand service and Dual Tuner DVRs. The HD box that I got also enables the On Demand content and there are thousands of hours of content stored that you can watch for free - my kids love the Kid and Teens category. Anyway, the installer showed up right on time. She (yep she) showed me how to work the DVR and since I had a single tuner TIVO unit, she took that out of my AV system and hooked it up to an older TV in my basement. I love the DVR for ABC/NBC/CBS shows, and the VOD shows from the cable networks. The installer also asked how my internet service was doing (no problems) and told me that Comcast was going to get into the phone business. I can't wait to dump Verizon. 4 Years ago they made me wait 2 weeks for an installation appointment and then didn't show up - they suck. I was thinking about getting a satellite dish, but now that I have the Video On Demand, there is no way I will leave Comcast.

I honestly have to say that my experience with Comcast has been the single worst experience I have EVER had with any business in my entire life. We were supposed to have our cable and internet service hooked up on August 2nd between 12-4pm. At 6:45pm a person came to do it who had been independently contracted by Comcast (apparently they hire out independent contractors to help because they are severly understaffed). He spent 2 hours and left without checking the cable and high speed internet and naturally neither worked. We called that night and on Wednesday the 3rd a Comcast installer came and hooked it up properly. Unfortunately, he said, the wire outside our home was getting a weak signal but it shouldn't be a big deal. He said they would be out to fix it the next day. So, the next day no one came and we called Comcast back. They said they would send a serviceman the next day (Aug 5th) to check it out even though we told them that would not help and that the wire outside needed replaced. On Friday the gentleman came and confirmed what we had said was true, that the wire would need to be replaced. He said the utilty crew was very busy so they couldn't come until Monday. We later found out we were charged an additional $29.95 to have him come to our home and confirm what we were already told. Later that Friday night the Comcast utility crew came for ten minutes looked at the wire and left. We thought Oh well they are busy, they will be here Monday to fix it and it will be fine. We were wrong. No one came on Monday. When I called Comcast they said the utility crew was tied up with another job but would be there FOR SURE on Tuesday. I called Tuesday morning and the operator said he had just talked to the utility manager and he promised he would be there that day, No one had come so I called back at 6pm and they said Well, the utility crew works later hours and they are still coming tonight. Needless to say they did not come. At this point my wife called and demanded to speak to a manager. He said it would be at least 4 days but then by the end of the conversation he said the earliest they would come is August 21st! Long story short my wife then told him we quit and wanted our money back. I could go on another several paragraphs about what has happened since then but for the sake of time I will say it has just more of the same. I have talked to them 5 times about getting our bill zeroed out and each time they promise it will be or has already been taken care of. Well, today I just got a bill for $60 and once again they say they are sorry and it will be taken care of but I have a feeling this saga will continue to drag on. In short, Comcast represents everything that can go wrong when there is a virtual Monopoly. Rather than provide any sort of customer service they simply lie to the customer to get them off the phone and then do nothing. I can't fully express how much frustration this has caused me this past month and can only beg you all that if you have any possible alternative to Comcast...use it. We went with Knology and they have been perfect. They told us there was nothing wrong with the wire outside our house, Comcast had just put a loose faulty outlet coming into our home and thats why nothing worked. I am not surprised. John McGrane

As a former Comcast customer for many years until we went the way of over 10 million DirecTV subscribers, I must say their service was a cable customer's worst nightmare come true. It took many years for the basic channel package to reach at least CH 70 from about 40, according to my earliest memory. As the years went by, it happened! The price in our bill skyrocketed into the $80 range, which remained until our final bill. We were that close to loosing cable until we decided to go DirecTV. With DirecTV soon to be installed in the next few days, we didn't even bother paying Comcast's bill. A few weeks later, the cable guy from Comcast came by to cut off the service and the rest was history. I wonder if that fellow ever noticed something different about our means of viewing television? If you're looking for a quality cable service, don't mess with Comcast.

I have been installing cable in Dallas off and on for 16 years. The pay has steadily eroded to the point now that the only people willing to do the work are new, untrained, transients. We are the people who the customers see as Comcast but, we aren't adequately compensated to perform the technical and physical requirements for the pay offered. I make more money as a freelance handyman. Comcast charges the customer $40 to put a wire in the wall. By the time that trickles down to the installer, he's lucky to get $10. The only way to make a living wage is to work these poor guys to death You show up at 6:00 am and are expected to work until everyones jobs are done the general contractor doesnt care how long you work so you always get more than you can handle and if you finish that early you HAVE to take more work. My last week one man fainted on the job .. the only reason I knew about it was I was expected to complete his work. The general contractor doesnt care because hes not covering your insurance so if you work yourself to death he makes more money. If you dont work 6:00 am till 9:00 pm you get fired. If you are wondering why this guy won't go up into the attic of your million dollar home on a 100 degree day .. you can stop now .. he is not getting compensated. It always amazed people when I said I can't get a wire in that wall. Actually I was thinking, for $10 I'm not going to risk my health, take a chance of falling thru the attic of this expensive home and lose the money I earn in one year in one day. Recently Comcast has decided that piecework we had been getting paid for various tasks simply would no longer be paid .. but we were expected to keep completing the task. They used to pay us $5 to take back your old cable box to cover the time of removing it and the risk of possibly getting it stolen while we truck it back to the warehouse ($300 back charge for a lost box) Now we just leave them at your house ... no money no worky. Take it leave it cableman .. we can replace you so if you don't like it go somewhere else. The latest thing Comcast has begun is back charging for anything so now it isnt enough that the pay is nothing .. they want to take that back if you forget to circle some obscure item on a work order. I've seen this city go thru 5 major cable companies so far ... guess what? They cannibalize themselves thinking they are profiting by such ignorant tactics, but in the end .. they just go away. The value of a company isn't on paper or in the bank .. it's in how they invest in the people that install and maintain the system. You can save money by not taking care of your car but you will soon be walking. Comcast in Dallas has gone through 4 contractors in the past year .. they can't figure out why the job can't get done for less money and just think they have a crummy contractor .. duh ... guess what .. you get what you pay for (unless you are a subscriber to Comcast). Looks like just another large corporation being run into the ground and all the wealth siphoned off. One last clue ... the dish companies are paying the installers 30% more overall. The good people are working for them now.

I have Comcast, I can't really recommend them, but don't have anything really bad to say about them, I think they are too pricey, that is for sure, but the satillite service providers charge basically the same monthly price, so, what do you do now for TV? I am trying their hi speed internet, 6 months at $20, but it will go up to $45 soon, and will have to drop it. I think ALL the hi speed internet is double the price it should be! The people at Comcast have for the most part always been nice, if I get a nasty one, I complain to a supervisor, and get a nice one instead.

Awesome High Speed cable Internet running at a steady 2.8 Mbs!! I also have Comcast cable TV with HDTV and it is great. My only complaint is that they said that I had one of each movie channel (StarzHD, ShowHD, MaxHD, etc) with the HDTV package, but after a few months they sent me a letter saying I was done with my sample preview of the HD movie channels, so now all I have is the local channels, INHD1&2, and ESPNHD, plus of course, my HBO HD since I have the HBO premium package...oh well. Other than that, Comcast has been great to me for over three years! Service calls are always timely and effective. Honestly, I am sad to have to switch to Adelphia when I move... :(

Also, the picture quality varies from station to station unless you use composite cables. The local commercials are bad and distracting as well. Thankfully, I'm moving out of Delaware in a couple of months and won't have to put up with this pathetic and overpriced provider any longer...

I live in Langhorne, PA and I wrote the following message to Comcast: Besides Comcast high-speed internet I also subscribed Comcast Cablevision. I've selected the Digital Gold option. The cost of all services together was a high $115.47/month until the end of last year. But, in the beginning of this year Comcast raised my bill to $130.09 (increase of $14.62). Yesterday (3/20/04) I received a bill of 135.20 (another increase of $5.11). I (and not only myself as you can see in some news media) already feel that Comcast is overcharging for TV services taking advantage of their quasi monopolistic situation to ripoff customers. Comcast profits are so huge that they even can afford to buy Disney. Therefore, in the same day I received this bill increase, in order to protest against this ripoff, I decided to cancel the Digital Gold service. And soon I'll replace the entire Comcast service, (including Internet) with other possible technologic means as satellite and DSL or similar. Also, I'll share my disappointment with as many people and official entities as I possibly can.

From my experience with Comcast, I believe they are committing fraud; they offer you a special with no specific time limit and once you agree to take advantage of the special they tell you after you've had the service for several months that it was promotional and the promotion is over so you're now required to pay a signifacant increase for your service to remain the same. Sounds like bait & switch to me.

a 2.5. we only have this because it is the only cable company in our area so we are forced to go with them. they are the biggest crooks. it is outrageous what they charge . and for every teir you go up, so do the prices. We have been considering getting a dish but want to do some more homework on that since it would mean a contract.
