I currently have DirectTV dish. It's simply the best entertainment media choice available. Cox cable does NOT EVEN COME CLOSE to compare. Cox cable issues: 1.) unreliable online availability 2.) rude customer service reps 3.) slow performing cable hardware 4.) extremely over-priced

The worst of them all. They never finished the installation. In the first time, they brought the wrong equipment. I had to call for reschedule. The second time, they did not show up. I just canceled my service that did not start in the first place.

Little programing for a whole lot of money, satelite is 100% better any day any time.

This is the best cable TV provider there is, but I moved from that area and don't have them anymore. I liked them when I had them though. And they offer the most channels.

Greg Bicket Vice President and Region Manager, New Orleans, La Cox Communications 338 Edwards Avenue . Harahan, Louisiana 70123 AND Chairman - James C. Kennedy MAIN CORP HQ: Cox Communications, Inc., 1400 Lake Hearn Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319 and Cox Enterprises, Inc. 6205 Peachtree Dunwoody Road Atlanta, Georgia 30328 The following complaint regards possible fraudulent billing, harassment and threats, and refusal to make repairs and maintenance. We are aware that some problems may exist regarding the post hurricane damages, but as of this date, the problems and excuses are no longer valid. THAT since October 2005 we have attempted to contact COX by email, telephone, and written correspondence to have to have Cable TV service restored back to normal. That on those occasions attempts were made by telephone wait time varied from 20 to over 50 minutes without speaking with a representative. A number of emails were sent to the New Orleans Customer Service office in most cases without response, or attempts to correct the problems. Letters written to the Corporate Headquarters and copied to the New Orleans office have been ignored, and not responded too. THAT the one time connection was made to the New Orleans Customer Service office I was assured that the service would be reinstated back to normal within seven (7) days. And that a credit to my account would be issued for the on month’s payment. Neither the repair, nor the credit was ever completed. THAT in late December 2005 I was contacted finale by COX Customer Service by telephone and advised that a tech representative would be at my home with in a week. And that a credit to my account of one month would be made to my account, and pending additional credits for loss of service. THAT in late December 2005 a field technician finale arrived and advise until such time that the outside service box could be replaced, repaired, and the wires replaced and repaired, there was nothing he could do to fix, or correct the loss of service. The outside box had to be fixed by another department technician. As of this date, there have been no repairs, restoration of service, and no credits to my account. THAT COX continues to harass, threaten, and continues in its fraudulent billing practices. RATIONAL for not contacting state agencies for Louisiana include in part: COX has direct connections with the Mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin, who is the former CEO of COX. That COX is a heavy contributor to certain campaign funds, for state and local officials. That neither the New Orleans Service Commission, nor the State Government will take an action or protect the consumer with regard to certain entities that are favored.

RUINED MY CREDIT!!!!! When I left my apartment in VA I cancelled my services with Cox, and returned all their equipment. They even sent me a REFUND for the returned equipment! So, how surprised was I when between Oct 2005 and Jan 2006 my credit score DROPPED 40 POINTS!!! Why? Because Cox Communications incorrectly submitted a FIVE DOLLAR BILL (yes, thats right folks, $5.00) to a collection agency!! I am currently in the process of getting this cleared, but anyone who has had to dispute claims on a credit report knows the hell that can be. So much for that car I planned on buying next month!

I call them Cocksucking Cox. I have to have them for Internet because there's basically nothing else available in my area. If there's a way to screw it up, Cox will do it--in spades. I had Dishnetwork for a while but I they don't have FitTV or Oxygen so I decided to go back to Cox. So I call them to install and request a DVR. Guy is supposed to get here between 1-3 which pisses me off to begin with. Why can't they give you a specific time? Guy arrives at 4 looking like he got out of prison an hour ago. He spends 5 minutes outside the house doing something, has no DVR with him. Tells me I'm all set. I get in my car drive to Cox and get my DVR. Get home and hook it up. Oh, but it's not a DVR, it's just a digital box. Cox is closed, which is fine because I can only get channels 2-13 anyway. Next available appointment? Saturday between 1 and 3. So the guy shows up at 4. Cox time runs differntly than regular mortal time. Tells me there was a 'trap' on the line. Not sure why. I'm not either, but I can't wait for this pitiful ass company to go out of business.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced with any company. My cable was out 4 days, before they scheduled a technician to come out and fix it Sunday morning. When the guy didn't show up, I called Cox, only to find that they don't do repairs on Sunday. I especially like dealing with the call center, and its minimum-wage morons.

Every time I have experienced an outage it has been atleast a week before I receive service and I have to complain and request to speak to 2 different bosses before I am prorated on my bill. Cox constantly fears the day that SBC is deregulated because thier monopoly will be over. (before you say some thing like "get dish then" I live in an APARTMENT! Cox pays off the apartment complexs to disallow dishs. Like I said. Monopoly.

Cox Communications is a wonderful cable company. I call someone out to get a problem fixed and they do it right away. That is not to say they have problems, but then what company does not?
attyCH 08/07/2005
Absolute imbeciles. How can this company stay in business when they hire tech supervisors with negative IQ's... simply downright rude and unnerving... Time to do some writing to the BBB and FCC.... since the 6 figure hotshots don't respond to complaints.

Worst cable company ever. I had them when I lived in Connecticut. Very poor picture quality with so-called Digital cable. Channels going out alot. Also they like to advertise themselves every chance they get with the most annoying commercials possible. They talk about satellite vs cable and all the disadvantages of satellite. What they don't tell you is cable has many more faults than satellite. Don't waste your money on their cable, if you live in an area where the cable company is Cox Communications, get satellite instead, much better than the $60/month for poor picture quality. Plus for $60/month you can get more channels on satellite than with cable.

Their service is great! My only problem is their liberal slant in news reporting. If I want to see some Bush bashing, I can turn on CNN. Otherwise it's a great service.
meecee 03/23/2004
I have only had one problem with my services being out, and Cox came out the same day for repairs. For those people out there who are complaining about prices/being a monopoly etc.... oh please get over it! if you don't like it, either stop complaining or do something about it! I had DirecTV before and they were horrible! It took them 2 weeks to get out for an install and a week for repair work. Anytime it rained, I lost the picture.... and their internet service was almost 60 bucks........

The infomercials are not the fault of the cable company. The actual channels choose to run infomercials late at night. It doesn't matter what cable/satellite compnay you have.
swimmerbob 12/03/2003
Cox cable service nighttime lineup is a joke! Many of the channels (like Comedy channel and KTLA) become infomercial channels at night- as if we didn't get enough of this boring crap during the day! I'm also very tired of all the lies and mud-slinging they do concerning digital satellite dish TV services (like DirecTV). To me this seems self-defeating; they seem afraid of the competition so they try to trash them. I have yet to speak to any DirecTV subscribers who aren't pleased with their programming and service while I think I could fill a book with compaints from Cox customers. We need cable competition or stiffer regulation of cable sustems like Cox in San Diego. We have the technology to operate several cable systems on the same grid- yet Cox and other systems don't have to share. To me this is nothing but a rip-off of taxpayer money. This is not a public utility- this is a private business (oh the communications division has gone public on the NYSE-big deal!) that uses public infrastructure and is PROTECTED FROM COMPETITION! If the PUCO wants cable systems to be treated and governed like utilities then they need to do their job or get out! Regulating cable systems won't work because they are businesses competing in what should (be an open market. Cox thinks they can buy an infrastructure (like an abandoned, incomplete fibre-optic network for pennies on the dollar) constructed on or under public lands and operate it like a privately-owned business with little regulation. Who do they think they are- SDG&E? rc

Just OK is all this cable provider and most the others get from here, they are making a killing with adverising on there cable channels and have just about if not already have control of the whole State of Oklahoma they are or about to have a Monopoly in Oklahoma and could if they would lower the cable rates but they will not and they lie and give poor service when something is wrong at your house connection.
az4me4ever 10/12/2003
Cox is basically okay just wish they would have an options list of what you would like to view rather than taking what they give you. Especially at the basic level.
