Fox Rent a Car 5

Was in San Diego for the holidays. After looking for the cheapest car rental, I found Fox. I was scared renting from them because of all the bad reviews I read but my rental turns out very positive. I was surprised how organized and friendly everybody was.
For sure I will come back.

Fox Rent a Car 4

I recently travelled to Los Angeles for a week on business, and during my planning, I found a blurb online about this rental company that rented hybrid vehicles. I booked a Toyota Prius, and got a great rate of around $35 per day, which actually beat my normal rental company. I walked into the lot, which was a cavernous garage. My car was sitting next to about 4 other hybrids. I walked up to my car, put my luggage in the back, and climbed in. Here is where my one and only complaint entered the stage. There were no instructions or manuals on how the unique controls on the Prius operate. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to turn the darn thing on! (Hint, press the brake BEFORE you press the on button.) The car was an '06 Prius with air, auto, and a keyless entry system. In fact the Prius had no key at all. the fob was part of what I later found out is Toyota's "Smart-Key" system. I spent the week with the fob in my pocket, since I did not have to insert it into the car to drive. The seats and floorboards were a little stained, but the overall appearance if the car was very satisfactory. Friday, I returned to the lot, and pulled up to the indicated area to stop the car. I waited for about 2 minutes before someone came to check me in. He did another quick walk-around, and checked the mileage and gas level. Once he was finished, he handed me a slip of paper and asked me to proceed to the return counter. Once I was standing at the counter, I was finished within a minute. Again, the clerk thanked me for renting from Fox. I proceeded to the shuttle, which was waiting for me. The trip back to the airport took about 6 minutes, and the driver dropped me off right in front of the entryway.

Will rent again...

I rented at Las Vegas. I got the car at night in their unlit parking lot so it was hard to see scratches. Three weeks later, when I returned the car, the attendant finds an extremely small scratch on the windshield. I was blamed for it and was told claims would investigate it. I was told by the attendant that they had no record of the previous condition but the blame was mine since I did not report it when inspecting the car in a very dark lot ( they use minimal light). They told me that it would cost me to "fix" the windshield. Fortunately, I took photos to show Visa. Beware of Fox..

I mentioned front damage to car before I left the lot. Employee didnt want to come out to inspect, and marked wrong area on damage paperwork. I returned car and I was blamed for the damage. The case is pending. Horrible experience and really made me angry and upset on many levels... (BTW, the "luxury" car also had high miles for an 08, a stained back seat, and bad strut in rear.....)

Stay away.

After reading all the reviews, I was a little scared to rent from this company. I was very surprised when I arrived to San Francisco to rent my car. There was a small line so I waited less than 5 minutes. The agent was very friendly and explained my rental contract.
My car was waiting for me when I finished the paperwork.
After returning to the location another agent was offering help with my bags after closing the contract. I give Fox a 5 star rating because I am 100% satisfied with the service they provide.

I rented a vehicle from Fox rent a car is San Diego, I also rented a GPS device from them.
The car rental portion was fine except for the agent at the desk had very poor communication with me about the rental agreement. I received the key and the GPS device and eventually drove off the lot.
When I brought the car back, the GPS was still plugged into the ciarette lighter. The lot attendant asked for the rental agreement, then looked over the car, and handed the agreement back for me to take inside to the front desk.
When I went inside to complete the rental service, I was the only customer there and the agent at the desk did not greet or even acknowledge me until I spoke up and said " I'm here to return a car". He was very quiet and seemed to be put out to have to do his job.
Upon completion of the agreement, I was not asked about the GPS which I thought would be fine left in the car (which is now back in the possession of the rental company).
A few hours later I received a voice mail from the lot saying that the case for the GPS was found but the device it self was lost. Before I got back in touch with them, I realized that I was charged $495.00 for a device that was lost AFTER I returned the vehicle.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
This company has a VERY SHADY system working here. When I tryed to contact someone in charge, the person who was supposed to be in charge, then, re-connected me with the lot manager who said he would look in the lost and found again. He then told me that I am responsible for everything lost.
By the amount of negative reviews that I have found on this site and a couple others, I'm beginning to wonder if there has been a class action suit brought against this company.

After reading all the bad reviews, I had a bad feeling to rent from this company. But it was a great experience. I was renting a car in San Diego and after I arrived to the location, help was offered to me right away. There was a short line but after couple of minutes I received the keys to the car I reserved. Everything went smooth and the service and price were amazing compared to other rental companies.
I look forward to rent from them again.

I was renting last week from Fox in San Francisco, it was a great experience. I arrived to the location and after 5 min waiting time in line the guy from the counter called me up. He was very very friendly and explained me everything what's in my contract, handled me the keys and showed me where my car was waiting. Meanwhile, another girl was offering help with my luggage. I found my car very easily and it was also a Dodge. I marked little damages on my paper work and than I left.
After reading bad reviews I was scared renting from Fox, but from now on I will rent more often from them. I feel sorry for the people with bad experience but everybody may have a bad day even people at Fox.

Fox Rent a Car 1

Let me begin by saying there are not enough bad things or enough swear words to say about this company. I really wish I would have read these reviews before renting from this POS rental company. I have been treated better by enemies. Here is the rundown of my experience. Rented a van for myself and kids and for my extended family travelling to San Francisco. Our flight gets in at SFO and we wait forever for the shuttle. We call the number on the box phone at the airport and at the same time call the office, the phone rang and rang. Finally, we get picked up and the shuttle driver acted "put out" for having to pick us up. There was several other people waiting for the shuttle besides myself and my family. I had two small children with me and it is about 12:00 or 12:30 am at this point and being from Chicago it felt like 2:00-2:30 am because of the time change so they were kind of cranky and tired as was everyone else. That aside, we waited and waited and waited at the counter, only one customer ahead of us and those people getting the run around should have been a clue to run and hide and go to Avis. So finally we are the next customers, give them our reservation and then they wanted our flight itinerary, having never done this before I thought "Uh ok" then they asked about insurance. Explained to "Miss Thang" behind the counter, who did not speak very good English and was the only one working, that I had already purchsed insurance when I reserved the car. So the moron marked down that I refused insurance. Then, when the paperwork was finally finshed, she gave me all the papers I signed and had to chase me out in the lot because she forgot she had to keep a copy (if you need to use the bathroom right now, I understand). Anyway, she gave me the keys and said (ready for this) "It's over there" pointing her flabby arm to the back of the office. Well, thank God that the van had keyless entry because we had to push the button to find out which van it was. Oh Yes, this gets better. We find the van, and I had to squeeze myself sideways into the door because the other cars were parked so close to the van. Then I tried to move the van up so we could open the other doors in order to get our luggage and other family members in, but we had to get the shuttle guy to move the car parked right of us sideways so we could move up and open the doors. I did see a smudge (kind of like a rubber transfer) on the back bumper, I know I should marked it down or brought someone out there, but like I said there was only one person working behind the desk and there were tons of people in the office trying to get waited on. I guess that shouldn't have mattered and I should have reported it. Shame on me.

This was a 2008 Dodge Caravan. I mentioned several times while driving this van that I would never buy one of these because they are a big POS. Assuming it was because it was a Dodge and not dreaming this would be because of the rental place. My apologies to Dodge.

Fast forwarding to drop off day. We pulled the van up, got out to get our luggage and Mr. Shuttle Van Guy came out as if he could see me coming for miles and ran out and pointed to the "smudge". I instantly told him he was " Full of s**t" if he thought he was going to get me for that smudge. I told him to wipe it with a rag and it will go away. Now up to this point I haven't mentioned that the family I am with are very outspoken. (insert several swear words from my mom and sister). Anyway, I complain to the clerk, yet another person who barely speaks English and they had me fill out an "incident report". I wrote all over it "NO INCIDENT" and they needed my insurance information.

This was all at the beginning of September and now my insurance company called and said that Fox has sent them a bill for $400.00 for damages. As they were explaining what was going on I asked them to stop calling it damage or an incident because there was none and I also told them that that was an expense ass car wash, they asked what I was talking about and I explained that is all it would take to get rid of the "smudge". Now I am trying to fight with them and my insurance company about the extra insurance I purchased was looked over, trying to tell me that it was insurance for another driver, I know what I purchased and I have the policy and receipt.

I know I have rambled, but with all of these reviews people have written, you stop to wonder how many other people are getting the royal raw screwing that these people give out and it just pisses me off that they are getting away with this everyday. It is not fair. There has got to be something someone can do so these people do not get away with this anymore, how do they sleep at night.
Oh by the way, if they file a damage claim or what have you against they will send you a bill for a $50.00 administration fee. They will NEVER get that money from me.

Fox Rent a Car 1

Let me being, by saying if it were possible to give them a zero rating that is where I would be. I travel frequently for both business and pleasure, and have never had such an experience until Fox in San Francisco. I waited for a half hour for the shuttle to take mme to rental agency. I then, got shuffled through fairly quickly to the PT Cruiser, when I had reserved and paid for a mid size sedan. Needless to say I felt ripped off, but took the car and moved on. I got in the car and it was filthy dirty and smelled awful. I was in a rush and had no time to deal with this, so I moved on. It only got worse from there. I had rented the car for five days and spent the entire next five days being eyed at every stop light, because the car brakes squeaked very loudly. I did not have time to travel the hour plus back to SF airport, so I just dealth with it. Additionally, the car had a very difficult time keeping up acceleration on hills (all of Northern California) and there were many times, I felt like the engine would just shut off. Anyhow, I dealt with it and when I returned the car, I told them of these issues and recommended they service the vehicle and not rent until that was done. Fast forward a month...I am now in the midst of arguing with Fox to return the deposit of 250.00 they took initially. Per their contract this was to be returned. I have spoken with Sam at the SF local office several times only to be brushed off. I have now spoken with Ramon at the corporate office who told me I would have to await a check for yet another week. It is the 30th of September and this car was returned on the 6th of September. I asked if they could issue refund to my credit card and was told no. They are not workable. I have documented my call with Ramon and told him that if there was not a check in my mailbox in three days, I would be contacting the County Commissioner's office and filing suit, where I would personally name him for contract violation and theft. I am furious. They are thieves and the most dishonest rental car business I have encountered. I recommend Alamo, Enterprise, or Hertz all of whom I have great experiences with. This is my first and definitely worst bad experience with car rentals.

Fox Rent a Car 1

I rented a car from Fox Rent a Car on Monday September 1st and was scheduled to return the car in the evening on September 8th. The car worked fine until Sunday the 7th. On the morning of Sunday the 7th I drove the car to visit a friend in the morning and when I returned to the car an hour latter it would not start. I found someone nearby to help jump the car and it started. I thought that maybe the problem was fixed. After driving home I parked the car. Later in the day it would not start again. I called the Fox Rent a Car corporate office number on the contract that I was given when I rented the car. After waiting for a total of 50 minutes to speak with someone I got through. I told them that I had a problem with a bad battery and their response was that they could send someone to jump it but I would have to pay for this. Their alternative suggestion was that I jump the car again and drive it back to San Diego where I rented it. In the evening
I then drove the car 40 miles back to Fox Rent a Car to return it expecting that I would be treated fairly...I was not. At the rental counter I told, the man at the desk (listed as Kyle on my receipt and says that he is the owner of the franchise), about the problem with the battery and about what the woman told me on the phone. He implied that it was my fault because I called the corporate office and not him. The fact is that he rented me a faulty car. I returned the car a day early because it didnt work properly and asked that he would remove 1 day from my charges because I would be renting it for a shorter period. He did not do so. He didn't seem to care that the company rented me a car that would not work for the last two days of the contract. When I asked for a business card with his name on it he said that it was on the receipt. I could not see it so he said that I had by eyesight. I was treated unprofessionally and unfairly by the
corporate office, and the man (Kyle?).

I hesitate to even give this company 1 star. In Salt Lake City, I rolled into the office after trying to find the shuttle at the airport for aver an hour. Couldn't get ahold of Fox for assistance and airport personnel weren't sure who Fox even was. I arrived to be greeted by a woman who hardly noticed I was there. Had to return with my "damage" slip cause I found damage that she summarily blew off. I rent cars a lot for work. This car was dirty and smelly. Didn't care that much so I drove away not thinking much of it. Had a great time in Utah next few days. Upon returning the car, Jack the idiot came out to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Shuttle driver assulted me attempting to justify a tip. Jack the idiot informed me I'd have to pay $75.00 more for cleaning the car cause there was dirt where my feet go to operate the petals. I was LIVID!!! He dumbly said it's in the contract and that someone should have told me. He said I should have stopped at the car wash. I have never had the displeasure to deal with such a bunch of jack asses as I had to at the Salt Lake City facility. Needless to say, my advice? RUN FROM FOX and their idiocy and triclery. Next EMAIL? To the CEO if he even has the gazongas to have his info on the web.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. We selected a convertible about 2 months in advance. All we were allowed to look at was Ford Mustang convertibles. They had brand new PT Cruisers available but would not let us have one. The car we finally chose was the less of the 4 evils. They all looked like they were owned by Rent-A-Wreck previously. We still have the slip that shows all the scratches on the car. Every section of the car was marked. I have pictures to prove it. The car had 52,000 miles on it. The tires were bald. The O/D light came on at least once a day. The buttons to move the front seat forward were gone. The three people at the counter were all rude and didn't care about the customers at all. They never answered why we couldn't have a nice car. The rear view mirror fell off once. It was so scratched you couldn't see out if it. I have rented cars from Hertz, Alamo, Avis, National, and Enterprise and never had a problem. This car was a 2007. The car was filthy inside and out. It had not been vacuumed. My wife tried to talk them into a car that was not damaged - they did have some but we were forced to take the Mustang. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY - IF they gave me my money back I would not use them again. We should have returned to the airport and gone to see one of the more honest car rental firms. My fear was that FOX would charge me anyway. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY Angie Fox

Fox Rent a Car 1

I have had very bad experience in renting the car from Fox Rental on 6/14/2008, 11am, at San Jose Airport. I mentioned 12pm as my approximate rental pickup time, and due to 30 minutes delay with Atlanta-SJC flight, me and my wife reached fox rental outside booth by 11.30pm. First of all the computers were down at that time at the main fox rental location. We ended up walking in hot sun towards the rental booth. At the booth Mr Daniel initially told us that we have to just wait for few minutes to pick up our car since they were waiting for car returns. After waiting for 30 minutes I talked to Mr Daniel asking him to upgrade or give us another car, and he said there was no car available, so we would have to wait. We had been waiting for 30 minutes in mid noon sun by then. After another 30 minutes my wife also got pissed off (I was trying to get rental cars at other locations, but prices were exorbitant for the last minute) and other fellow passengers shared her anger. She also asked Mr Daniel why they couldnt give us some other car. Finally we thought Mr Daniel was of no use for us, and approached Mr Francis whom we should have approached in the first place. Then Mr Francis quickly found out about our problem and asked Mr Daniel to give us any car. By the time we got our car, it was 2 pm, 2.5 hours after we were at the booth. We got a free upgrade but the ordeal was bad enough that the upgrade didnt really matter at the end. We just couldnt understand how pathetic Mr Daniel was in understanding customers plight in broad daylight. I didnt have any reason to rationalize his lack of professionalism. I would never rent again with Fox rental, and this experience is shared with many of friends who were appalled at Fox employees pathetic service. Since they live in San Jose, they would probably be careful with Fox Rental. If I were Francis, I would have put this Daniel guy on probation. I request you to investigate this matter.

I would not recommend Fox rental car to friends I know. But I will recommend it to anyone I hates.

I tried Fox rental car three times in the past two years. Once in San Diego, twice in San Francisco.

The customer service in San Diegois terrible. The waiting for the shuttle bus is very long even in a sunny afternoon. The waiting line in the rental office is very long. Also the representatives are very rude. So we canceled the reservation after talk with these rude representatives.

The customer service in San Franciscois better. The waiting line is very long too. But the representatives are very polite. But the thing we do not like Fox rental is they have a lot hidden traps. They are sharing your private information such as credit card info with some other 3rd party companies without your knowledge. If you have a parking ticket, even if you paid the ticket, the 3rd party companies will try to charge you 40$ service fee. So we stopped using Fox rental car service.

What horrible service!!! To start with they never did a walk around the car with us at the beginning. So we did it on our own and found a dent. We made them note it down. The worst part was returning the car. the first of my bad incidents was they were sooooo unorganized. Then we had sand in our car.....not alot, just a little off of our shoes and they charged us a 75.00 cleaning fee! oh yea we reserved an intermediate car. There web site says it can hold 5 pieces of luggage.....Yeah right, the cars they have are no where near close to that.

These guys are the worst! They are a LITTLE cheaper, but I've had only headaches. After 2 days of renting the car, we get a call from them asking why we didn't pick up the car. Then they didn't know which car we had, so we called in with the key number. We return the car a few days later. A few days after that we get a message telling us that we didn't return the call. We leave several messages (YOU CAN'T GET A HOLD OF ANYONE) and even fax a copy of the receipt of return of the car. AND NOW WE GET A MESSAGE A 8 PM ON SUNDY, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SAYING THAT THEY'RE GOING TO REPORT US TO THE POLICE. What a bunch of idiots! Thank God we still have the receipt of return -- I'm about to call now.

We rented from the LAX office last month. At first we thought we were getting a great deal. Soon after leaving the rental building, the car started a mild clunking. We didn't think much of it, so we drove to Palm Springs as planned. The next day the clunking continually got worse so we called to have them bring us another car. They told us that they couldn't do that, we'd have to bring it back the 1.5 hours to LA. Ok, if we have to. Well, halfway back to LA, the car died on Highway 10. We had to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to the shoulder. We called them and told them we needed a car brought to us, we were on the side of the road, but they told us that they were understaffed. They told us we couldn't leave the car and had to wait for a tow truck. 3 hours later one came and we had to cram ourselves into the towtruck for the hour drive to the Fox station. This was now 1:00am and we still had to drive back to Palm Springs. They gave us a new car... we thought "stuff happens, oh well"

2 weeks later we got a bill for repairs to the car with a letter accusing us of filling the tank with diesel. And now, 2 weeks after getting the letter, with all the proof (receipts and milage) that we didn't do it... we're still getting the run around & a threat of collections.

Pay a few dollars more and go somewhere else.

I would not recommend this company. The lady who I spoke to at the San Francisco Rental, Tonya, was rude and had no customer service skills. There was a discrepency with my bill and she completely blew up. There was not the car I orginally asked for when I signed up for a rental well over a month in advance and the agents we not friendly at all. They are a train ride and shuttle ride away from SFO and its not worth it!! They are unprofessional and rude.  I am truly worried that my credit info will be stolen by one of the employees....  SERIOUSLY Shady!

I ask if I keep the car an Xtra day what would it cost because I might not be able to get it back in time ..... I was told there would be a 15 dollar charge, NOT an EXTRA 10 on top of the 15, but when I got my statement on line they took 40 dollars more than they were suppose to. ... My daughter took the car back because my brother passed away, and I was a mess..... I went on line to check my account and they had taken more than we had contracted for..... I called and spoke with Sara a rep for the Fox Rent a Car....She told me about the extra 10 charge that was at the bottom of the contract and I asked why I wasn't quoted that charge when I specifically asked for those details... She started getting rude so I said let me talk to your manager and she said he was out sick ..... I said well, the charge still even with the Xtra 10 would not come to that much, and I needed my charges adjusted, she then said I had to talk to the manger and hung up on me YA lollolol I couldn't believe it she hung up .... I called back using a different voice, talked for a min. to get her name, then I hung up .... The car was OK, ane when I rented it in SLC, UT the service was good other than the 10 left out.... But .... HELLO they need help with there service help and I never read anything about them till now .... and ya

Fox Rent a Car 4

I was skeptical after reading all the reviews, but the price was so good. I decided to make a reservation at two car companies just in case Fox did not work out. I called for the shuttle just as I landed because I read some reviews that said you wait forever for the shuttle. We picked up our luggage and the shuttle was there within 10 minutes. There were several people working the front counter when we arrived so I did not wait in line too long- maybe 5 minutes. The office is a dump though. I would use the bathroom before you leave the airport. We got the car we reserved without any problems. The return also went smoothly and again the shuttle took us back to the airport within about 10 minutes. It was a very similar experience to other rental car companies I have delt with. I was very worried about using them based on the reviews, but I am glad I did and saved a bunch of money.

I read all of these reviews AFTER making my reservation for Fox so I was very wary when I went to pick up my car. Everything went great! I rented from the Phoenix location, yeah there was a little bit of a line (4 people) but it went fast and within a total of a half hour I was on the road. I prepared for the worst and experienced the best. I guess it kinda helped that they gave me a Mustang convertible since it was my birthday too. I got a killer rate. I would definitely rent from them again hands down.

Got scamed the second I walked in the door - was told the car I reserved is no longer at that location (San Diego)and given a car much smaller and a down grade, but offered an upgrade at additional $$. the upgrade was a POJ they did switch out vehicles to an acceptable vehicle (at which time it was revealed that the car I reserved was at that location but now rented out). However at that time a customer's wallet was stolen by an employee and the managment was not willing to do anything to assist their customer who was now going to miss his flight. I was also a victim of theft when I left my sunglasses in the vehicle - I called 15 minutes after leaving for the airport and was told they would check and then placed on hold for 10 minutes. I called back and was again placed on hold this went on for 50 minutes until I was informed that the glasses were missing. When I explained that I placed them in the visor as we arrived and that if they were missing it was because of one of their employees. I was told "how do I know that you even had a pair of glasses - we are not responsible for you leaving your stuff behind - the glasses are not here". It appears that customer service takes a back seat to theft and deception at fox San Diego! Use any other company!!!!!

We rented a car from Fox in Seattle and had very good service. From the guy who picked us up at the airport to the counter person, everyone was friendly. The car was clean and in good shape. When we returned they quickly checked the car, we finished the paper work and back to the airport without a hitch. We would use them again.

Awful! We rented in Pheonix. The line was long and very slow. The customer service was terrible. We had car trouble almost every day...the alignment was WAY off, brake light went on numerous times...the electronic throttle light came on when we were driving to return it (which means I could literally floor the car and it wouldn't move! Fortunately, I was able to turn the car off and restart it and it stopped the problem. Only had to do that 4 times in a 15 mile trip!) When we finally got the car back to the rental drop off, we reported all the problems we had and the guy checking us in said "bummer". Then he proceeded to inspect the entire outside of the car. He found that the bumper on the front passenger side was not attached properly. That was not written on our pick up inspection (I was so happy to finally get a car when we picked it up that I didn't look closely enough - my bad!) In any case, his ONLY concern was that - not the car's mechanical problems. I knew we hadn't damaged the bumper so I complained and made him look it up in the computer. When he found that it was, in fact, damaged when we picked it up, all he said to me was "You're lucky. I guess you won't get a nasty claim letter from us." Never once did anyone say anything about the mechanical problems. My guess is that they put the car right back into rental rotation. I will NEVER use Fox again!

You get what you pay for; and in Fox's case, you DON'T even get that. Lowest prices but horrible service in San Diego. They had to downgrade our car class because they were out: who ever heard of DOWN-GRADING when you don't have what the customer reserved ?? !!!!!!!
Spend a few bucks more and go with Alamo: a great company every time I've dealt with them.

I have a P.S. to add.  We rented at Phoenix, and dropped off at Oakland.  The pickup site at Phoenix WAS well run, and the dropoff at Oakland went very quickly and smoothly with NO problems or extra charges.  I'm sorry for those of you who had bad luck with Fox... I'm really feeling fortunate.

Fox Rent a Car 1

I am a frequent business traveler and decided to give Fox a try. They are by far the worst car rental company I ever used. Granted none are perfect but this company has to be at the bottom. Do not use them to rent a car. The cars are very dirty inside and out. I waited in line for over an hour to be checked in. When I contacted customer service they said they would notify me within 48 hours which they did not do. I then decided to contact the same person and she had no idea what I was talking about but she was the one I initally talked to and had emails to prove it. AGAIN STAY AWAY FROM FOX- I have found that thifty and alamo are the best bet for your money.

STAY AWAY FROM FOX!!!!!!
I rented from Fox in Phoenix and wished that I had payed an extra $20 to rent from one of the other companies. We only had 5 people ahead of us in line, but it took over 1 hour to get to the counter. All the other companies had almost no wait. It took another 20 minutes in the dark, polluted garage to get the car. The car was filthy and the gas light turned on before we even got to the freeway (the guy who brought us the car checked off 1/4 tank, so we had to fill it to that level when we returned). When we returned the car, they went over it with a fine-tooth comb to find anything else to charge use for. I saw many other unhappy customers when we picked up an returned the car.

Fox Rent a Car 1

We experienced the worst Car Rental Service ever in Anaheim. In addition to the 1/2 hr. wait at the Airport for a Shuttle, we had to wait a 1/2 hr. for the Service Rep to figure out how to release the car we had reserved. When we returned the vehicle, we encountered the same wait due to the another Rep's poor training. We contacted Corporate with our complaint. They said we would be contacted by the Manager on site, but still haven't heard from them. We have no plans on going with a "cheap" rate again to save a buck. We would rather pay more next time, than have our invaluable vacation time wasted.

Our rental broke down and instead of paying for a cab to the airport, Fox sent out a new rental car 2 hours later than they promised it. We ended up missing our flight and had to stay overnight for the next flight in an expensive hotel since all the cheap airport hotels were booked. Fox did not reimburse us for making us miss our flight and forcing us to stay in an expensive hotel overnight. The manager was unavailable and refused to return our phone calls throughout the entire experience. He still does not return our call when we attempt to get reimbursed. I will never rent with Fox again.

DIRTY CARS AND EVEN WORSE SERVICE. Hope they do not pride themselves on customer service. They are a real joke. Only used the service because it was reccommended by a good friend. Their very unprofessional and the cars are filthy. I paid to rent a dirty car. If I hadn't been in a real hurry, I wouldn't have even rented with them. Nevertheless, I called and left a voicemail for the manager Syed to call me about this problem, but he didn't. I used the car for a few hours and returned to either have it cleaned or get another car and an apology or discount for inconvenience wouldn't have hurt. I got the SORRY apology but 2 more dirty cars were offered after the first. I advised the manager who goes by the name of Rich that this was becoming a big inconveinece and they had taken up alot of my day already. He became very bitter and rude to me. I ran late to my meetings and ended up trying to extend the rental for a few days and guess what...No answer on any of their telephone lines....who coulda thunk it? After more messages and emails still no response. THIS IS DEFINATLY NOT A GOOD PLACE TO RENT.

Terrible customer service, wanted to charge us extra per day if the passenger paid for the rental instead of the driver. Both were going to put down credit cards but the passenger was going to pay. Why should that be an extra charge?

Fox is the cheapest option for LAX and it shows.  Unless you win the cosmic lottery, you'll end up waiting 45 minutes to an hour for the shuttle.  As I was waiting for mine, I must have seen 6 or 7 Avis shuttles go by.  It was sort of a rough crowd on the shuttle, the line to actually rent your car took for ever, and overall, it just wasn't a pleasant experience.

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $20 or so and go with a more reputable firm.

Can you say Bait and Switch?

I had a reservation in hand when I visited the LAX airport location at 10 PM. The MID size suv I reserved seated 5. Of course, when I got to the desk after a 30 minute wait in line, they were all out of this. Instead, they offered a smaller suv that only seated 4. If I wanted this smaller suv I would have booked it. I explained to the rude representative that I expected a discount, at least equal to the difference in the rental rates between a small and midsize suv. She wouldn't even give that to me! No surprise they didn't have the rental rates posted with an explanation of the cars available. She only would give a whopping 5% discount! Her next suggestion was to rent with another company! I was left with having to take the shuttle back to the airport and call other companies trying to find a midsized SUV at 11 PM on the beginning of a 3 day weekend.

I ended up renting a brand new Jeep Liberty with Advantage Rental Cars and was in and out without a reservation faster than the line at Fox. Never again will I consider using Fox. They are out to try to out Fox you with the old bait and switch every time. As stated before, I am very surprised they haven't been under investigation for deceptive practices.

Would not recommend renting from Fox - very long queues at LAX where friends and family of the staff had preference. Once we received our car (downgraded one level due to lack of availability ...), we got a dirty car where the former renter had smoked non-stop for at least a week. Horrible smell.

Cheap rates - maybe. Value in comparsion to what you get? Noway ...
