All I have to say, BIG SCAM. Never, never, never trust UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX. The teachers never email back after you ask a question. The counselors are never in the office, you might leave a message, if you can wait a week for them to get back to you. The university is one big mess After they get your money, you will never get the services they promised to you. THE UNIVERSITY OF PHONIX, IS GIVING A BAD REPRETATION FOR THE U.S.A. UNIVERSITYS. SORRY

Easily the biggest joke in education! When I started going to University of Phoenix I thought it was a great alternative to brick and mortar schools for working adults who must work full time and cannot commit to attending a local school several days a week. I quickly saw the light upon the second year of attending UoP. A professor is how you would refer to an instructor at the college level, however, at UoP they are quick to point out they do not employ professor's or even instructor's. The term for a master degreed person to teach at UoP is "facilitator". The bottom line is if you show up to class, make half an attempt you are going to pass with a C or a B. You will learn nothing as you are shuffled from class to class, taught by a facilitator who could care less if you learn anything. Save yourself lot's of money and attend a real school. For those of you who feel UoP is a real school ask yourself, what school does not have an honor's program. UoP does not have an honor's program, probably because more than 90% of their students would be participants. I wonder how much longer it will be before they lose their accreditation.

I am attending UoP, Axia College division. I transferred to UoP from a community college, where I found I was not getting the help needed. I had returned to school 13 yrs after I graduated high school so it was an all-new learning experience. My first few years at the community college were fine, but then I felt like it was taking forever to complete and I got tired of the distractions in the classrooms due to the younger students. Also some of my teachers I felt did not explain enough which caused me to get less than good grades. UoP is not easy. There are many papers that need to be written, as well as keeping up with discussion questions. They also do not mess around with attendance. I did one assignment one week and they sent me a warning that I would be dropped from the class if I missed another day. I will get my AA in Health Care Administration at the end of this year and will be moving on to my BA. UoP is excellent for those working full time and with families. I do not regret signing up with them one bit.

I graduated from UoP in November 2006 with a Bachelors in Business Administraton with a 3.73 GPA. It was hard work, but worth every moment and every penny I will pay for it. It helped me get interviews, when other candidates whom I was competing with for jobs, had none. It also helped me get my current job and a high baseline salary for my position as Night Manager for a highly prestegious resort in Napa Valley. I am proud to say that I got my degree from UoP. It has helped me imensely in developing quality writing skills which have been impressed upon me by my graduate school teachers. It also helped me develop hard core critical thinking skills which are now helping me in jump off into my career field of Clincal Psychology. I highly recomend UoP to anyone who is considering getting their bachelors or masters. I now have to find a brick and mortar school (sigh), or a hybrid program for my doctorate in Psychology, as you really need more "hands on" applications when it comes to clinical psychology. Additionally, the APA has not yet approved any PsyD (clinical psychologist) online program although there are other online PsyD programs available. Still UoP prepared me well for graduate studies, for that I am extremely grateful.

I completeed my MBA recently. Everyone who has questions or are quick to be overly critical of an institution listen to someone who has first hand experience. I will tell you the program is not easy. It is for those who are disciplined and want to succeed point blank. I have learned to respect any accredited MBA program. I do not waste my time downing an MBA program because any accredited MBA program is rigorous, time consuming and demanding. The program is problem based learning which applies extensive research and thought. Be prepared to write a lot of papers and discussion questions. Those of you who think this is an " MBA lite, I invite you to enroll. Everything changes in life, why not college ?? For those of you who failed it is no ones fault but your own. More than likely you did not participate in discussions, turned in assignments late, learning team members more than likely had to track you down. I am willing to bet, you were at the University of Phoenix MBA prgram and took it too lightly, thought you might just skate through. Well it does not work that way, now you trash the school. You thought it was a Sunday stroll. You have to work and work hard. Your last class be prepared to write a 7000 word paper on business strategy, and you had better start the paper early. Professors grade hard. Sit down and look how many schools are accredited but their MBA programs are not. Not only is the school accredited because it receives Title IV funding but the MBA program is as well. Those of you who attended other schools great, I will not trash your school so do not trash mine. I will not trash the school that gave and I mean gave "W" his MBA.

I have been attending U of P for a little over a year now. My first experience with college was at a local community college, and unfortunately I just couldn't work out working full time and going to school full time.

I decided to turn to an online school environment. I looked at several different schools and decided U of P was the best for my situation. I had a great enrollment counselor who I still talk to maybe once a month.

I have had issues with a class where I didn't care for the instructor. In fact, I felt like she had no personality and could have been a robot behind the screen. However, you deal with it and do what you need to do to get your grade. Other than that the instructors I have had have been fun and enjoyable.

This type of learning environment is not for everyone. It is not easy. You don't have a teacher babysitting you through the coursework. If you follow your syllabus and read the required material every week then you really shouldn't have problems.

And no, your instructor is not going to email you right away with an answer to your question. That is why you don't wait until the last minute to open up your assignment. Read the day before to see what the assignment is all about! That way if you have questions you have plenty of time to post them and get answers. And I have submitted assignments more than once and may have added a note to say I was not sure about the answer to something. Every time when I got my assignment back the instructor would explain whatever I was unsure about, and almost never counted it against me grade wise.

My experience has been very good, and I will continue on with this school until I finish my degree. This type of learning environment is not for everyone though!

The University of Phoenix is a for-profit university therefore the more students they can enroll and retain the more $$$ the shareholders make. As such the quality of instruction is subpar. They have an incentive to keep and pass every student they have even if that student would fail the same course at a high school.

They enroll every single student that shows up at their door. There were students in my class who could not write one coherent sentence! I quickly dis-enrolled and now attend a local community college. My goal is to then enroll at the University of Florida or hopefully UCLA.

Now if you are looking for value attend a local public college in your area. After U of P I attended Seminole Community College and for less than the cost of ONE CLASS at U of P I enrolled for a full-time schedule of 12 semester hours! The quality of instruction was much better and the professors did not hesitate to flunk students who were not up to standard. U of P passes everyone and practically gives out A's just for paying the tuition.

I rate them a zero! I thought the University of Phoenix was a great experience, until the end. My final dispersement of funds were to be released when I finished my final two classes when I get a letter stating that my lender has decided to stop funding student loans. So now I am stuck with a $2,700 dollar bill and I cannot get my degree until it is paid. I am not trying to seem like a winer, but the worse part is when I tried to settle the debt they are not willing to work with me, it is either pay it all now or it goes to collections. I am married, we have three kids, and my husband is the only one who works right now. I would love to go to work but I have nothing to show for the last two years because they will not give me my degree that I have worked to so hard to get. Now, I understand their position and that they want their money for providing my education, but at the same time I would not have taken those last two classes if I knew that I needed to find another lender, so what am I supposed to do but offer payments to settle the debt and they won't take them . I am not they type of person to hostile on the phone I kept my cool while talking to them, even though I wanted to ream them for how they were treating me, but I did not and they hung up on me...really!!!...I have never been treated like that before. So as long as you make sure that your finding is good they will treat you fine, just be careful and watch your finding to make sure that it will cover your classes so this does not happen to you.

I have been attending Axia College of the University of Phoenix for six months and I have found it to be a very positive experience. The instructors and the staff have been very helpful.
I am pursuing an Associates Degree in Information Technology/Networking. I find the courses challenging but nothing that can not be done if I apply myself.

I have experienced none of the problems that I have read about at this site. As I said, my experience has been positive and I would recommend UoP to anyone.

The staff is quick to dismiss a problem and drop you from class due to the professors lack of getting back to a person when they need the help!! I find it hard to believe that my attendance in one class was less then the other. When signing on I attended both classes one as much as the other!!! WHERE DOES ALL THIS MONEY GO!!!! when a student supposedly "gets dropped" for whatever reason! I know of atleast three other persons whom this has happened to for a grand total of 5,000.00 this supposed college gets to pocket!!! Now multiply this by 100 and you get 50,000 and so on THIS IS A SCAM!!! One of which I intend to beat!!! So UOP watch out I have contacted an attorney!!! and the better business bureau. I'll be damned if they're getting money off of me for nothing!!! So student beware this university is only out to pocket your money!!!!

I want to first say that I really should have done my research before I enrolled at this university and I urge everyone who considers enrolling to do so.

With that said, I am severely frustrated at their standard of customer service.

When I first talked with my admissions counselor, she was very nice. We had a nice conversation and she'd often check in with me several times a week to see if I have any additional questions. However, the moment I told her that I needed time to "think it over" she became more aggressive in her approach. She'd call me almost everyday, actually it's gotten to the point where it's borderline harassment. She was insistent on "walking me through" the website, showing me this and that. It was very overwhelming.

Without doing my research on the university's reputation, I decided to enroll -- this is my first mistake. I was very busy with work so I did not give myself enough time for a thorough research. I had a big financial concern, I wanted to be sure I have enough money to cover my tuition. My admissions counselor assured me in her own words that I will qualify for Financial Aid, and if I don't qualify for the grant...I will only have to pay $500 for the remainder of the YEAR.

My second mistake...was believing what she said. $500 to cover the rest of the year, that must be too good to be true but again, I did not do my research so I believed her.

So imagine my surprise when the financial aid counselor finally contacted me and informed me that $500 is not even CLOSE to what I'm going to have to pay. I was beyond appalled and upset at this. So I called up my admissions counselor for an answer...no answer. I cannot reach her at all. I tried emailing her, calling her and she would not return any of my attempts to contact her. Thankfully the financial aid counselor was nice enough to help me with my withdrawal process.

Even until today, I have yet to hear back from my admissions counselor. Except for one message she left me regarding being sick, and pretending not to get any of my messages, so she's just calling me to see "what's up" yeah right...there's no way she could have missed ALL of my messages.

So really, I made a serious error in judgment by not doing my research, had I gone on this website, I probably would have thought twice. Just do your research before enrolling in U or P...I'm sure it will work out for some people, just not me. The way they conduct business has completely turned me off. I am absolutely disgusted by my admissions counselor. First she harasses me and then ignores me. This is ridiculous.

Beware, people...and make informed decisions, unlike me.

Its pretty obvious that the school is on the right track. There is so much enrollment that other schools are wondering how they can get in on the adult learning niche. So many people are worried about what companies like banks and technology companies will say. What does UOP think about those companies?

UOP is now a 12 billion dollar company, 10 times larger than General Motors, I think they are doing something right. Maybe other companies should start to impress UOP since there stocks are tanking and shareholder value is almost non-existent. UOP continues to impress not only prospective students but also companies around the world. Do yourself a favor, go to UOP, you wont regret it.

I am only going to rate UOP on the things I have seen so far. I am just getting signed up for classes, and will begin in March 2009. I have found that every person I have spoke to has been very polite and respectful. I didn't feel pressure from a "sales person" like I have seen at other online colleges. I was pleased to find out that they would take all the credits I had from my "conventional" college. I would at this time say that I would recommend UOP to people as long as they were willing to research all their options to make sure it is right for them. I have a Brother who has completed his degree through UOP and was completely satified. I read a complaint some one had about the tuition. I understand that the tuition is a little higher than your traditional Community College. I have a full time job and a child to raise, and I am willing to fork over a little bit more for the abilty to have some flexablilty. I would say that based on statements made by my brother that the online education he recieved through UOP was far better than the courses he took online through the local CC.

To start, I wouldn't even give this university one star...but I couldn't leave it none. I attended U of P for a year in pursuit of my Bachelors degree in Business Administration. During my enrollment process, I spoke to a 'salesman' who told me that the classes were affordable and I would get a good education. I would have to say that the 'salesman' did not know anything he was talking about.

My boyfriend recently decided to go back to college and did a lot of researching about the various online universities available. He stumbled upon numerous negative comments about U of P...about how the education the students received was nothing more than the quality of High School and that tuition was a complete rip-off. At first, I did not agree with part of these comments.

During my year at U of P, I did not learn a ton...though I easily squeaked by with an A without giving the assignments my all. I was unaware of how much of a rip-off this college is until I researched a local online college. The college in my hometown charges the same amount fora WHOLE SEMESTER that U of P charges for ONE COURSE! U of P says that they are comparable tuition wise with normal colleges...funny thing, check out the tuition for Duke & Yale...U of P tuition is about the same price!!! As soon as I found this out, I dropped out of U of P.

Since the date that I dropped out, I received a refund for my financial aid that was not used...a bill from U of P for the same amount of my refund...an email from my finance counselor at U of P stating that I did not have a balance and to disregard my bill...and exactly a week later an email from my finance counselor stating that I owe $980 and that I will receive an email from him ever week until the balance gets cleared up or I will get sent to a collections agency. I just wrote the Dispute Resolution Center for U of P right before writing this review.

All in all, U of P is definitely a 'university' to stay away from unless you would rather get a degree where you don't learn anything and that you will have to sell your soul just to afford the tuition.

I'm now enrolled in UOP's Master degree program in Information Systems

I had a frustrating time with UoP. Class material seemed very elementary. I was bombarded by inane assignments--lots of daily busy work. Ultimately I decided it wasn't for me. My three supporting contacts suddenly became scarce. I had a very difficult time getting straight answers and got mass email responses to specific questions I was asking about un-enrolling. Finally I was told I would not be charged for the class because I had stopped early enough. Then I got a large check from a finance group with instructions to either cash it or sign it over to them. Sounded strange. I held onto the check then got a HUGE bill from Sallie Mae for three times the amount of the UoP affiliated group. Overall, I would say steer clear. Get an academic degree from your local REAL college and hone your skills on the job.

Good school if you are trying to move up within your current place of employment.

When it comes to a business degree, the school lacks the proper accreditation. If your goals are to work for a big corporation in the banking and finance industry, explore other options and make sure that the school that you choose is AACSB accredited.

I attended classes on campus in the Greater Boston area and was somewhat pleased with my experience, but was displeased with the reputation.
I would categorize 80% of the classes as some-what to very challenging. I wouldn't know what to make of the other 20%.

Overall I was somewhat satisfied with the quality and degree, but I also realized that I couldn't change careers.

In addition, since Ive graduated, Ive also gone back to school to shore up my educational background.

The MBA alone from UOP I dont think will cut it in the long run.

So far the school is going pretty school, it's what you make of it. The online courses at U of P are some what difficult, but you have great facilitators who help you along the way. I highly recommend the U of P.

I have completed one Masters degree program at the UOP, I am in another, and I highly recommend their programs. The UOP exemplifies a high standard of learning in a nurturing but competitive environment. For those who could not thrive within this environment, has personal issues within themselves. Their faculty are dedicated to the learning of their students, will and have assisted in every way possible to the completion of my, and every other student's educational goals. Because of the UOP, I have not only advanced my education but my career as well. For those that couldn't thrive or had a difficult time, look within yourself. Because it was definately not the fault of the UOP. It's the man, or woman in the mirror. Thank you UOP for helping me to be the BEST that I can be.For the rest, get over it already and stop bashing. Others have achieved!

Ok I have only read about the first three reviews and I'm already disgusted. I am a current MBA student at UOP. Now dont get me wrong, I will not be attending UOP for my PhD, but the comments people are making sounds more like personal issues than serious ones. V3 said its the worst school ever, but seems to me like you just couldn't grasp the concept. You misused the word "withdrawal" for God's sake! And I attended UOP for my BA as well and I had a couple of tests so thats not true. The idea of the school's curriculum is not to bombard student's with tests; that doesn't meant you don't have any at all. For people, if your going to complain make it about something sufficient. The idea of the way the school has designed its programs is actually good. You learn to be a good presenter and work with people of all backgrounds, which is similar to working in the real work place. You won't find that type of molding in any regular univerity or college because EVERYTHING is based on what you do as an individual. I, on the other hand, will not be attending UOP after this because I had a problem with one of the top faculty members and I feel like my education is not important to him so I choose to not attend a school where my education is not top priority to all faculty, especially top faculty members. I was placed in a class with a facilitator that did not teach us ANYTHING. He had no knowledge in the subject and tried to fail us for trying to teach ourselves. That is unacceptable when I pay $1500 per class. I am not paying him to come sit in the class and look me in the face. NOW THAT'S A VALID ARGUMENT!

Over the last five years, I worked on my doctoral degree in management at the UoP. It took me a bit longer than advertised, but such seems to be the nature of doctoral studies. I find it disappointing that the people, who had only a brief experience with the University of Phoenix, feel compelled to criticize the school. Please consider a possibility, however remote it might be that, slightly paraphrasing Julius Caesar, "You came, you saw, you misunderstood."

I cannot agree more with an earlier reviewer that education, especially adult education, is all about the student and his or her desire to learn. It is the person’s commitment that determines, to a large degree, the quality of his or her education. If an individual needs to be constantly reprimanded to complete one’s homework then, perhaps, online education is not right for such a person. I would further argue that any job that may require independent thought and action would likely be unsuitable for this individual as well. Yes, it is mainly about you, so make sure you have a heart-to-heart conversation with the person in the mirror, before you commit to earning a degree at the University of Phoenix or any other school.

The quality of class facilitation. As a doctoral student at an online school, I had a unique opportunity to learn from well-qualified faculty of seasoned professionals from all over the country (by the nature of the doctoral program, to teach us, all facilitators had to have an accredited doctorate degree in addition to relevant job experience). An earlier reviewer criticized the level of interaction and feedback a UoP facilitator provided. Well, I had an opportunity to study at the New York University’s Stern School of Business, a fairly decent private business school. At NYU, the feedback I received on my written assignments was rarely more than a word or two plus a grade. At the UoP, every facilitator had to use a fairly detailed standard rubric to grade every assignment based on scholarship quality, clarity, grammar, compliance with the APA writing standards (something that UOP is very big on), etc. After receiving my graded papers, I would often wonder how a facilitator finds the time to write half a page or more of very helpful comments, while he or she had 10-13 other students in my class to do this for. The only explanation I could find is that at least some of the facilitators love what they do and know how to do it. The best teaching is never about money—no great teacher is ever paid enough!

The academic support services. Yes, my academic counselor did call me, before beginning of every class, and made sure I was ready for it. If I needed help, the help was always promptly provided. I felt like a customer! This was much better feeling than one gets in certain “traditional” schools, where a visit to an academic counselor might seem like going to a baron to ask for reduction in property taxes.

Finally, a few words on the quality of “the final product.” Completed doctoral dissertation is the culmination of the doctoral studies and is a must for receiving the degree. If you consider getting your terminal degree at the University of Phoenix, please do yourself a favor. Go to a library that provides access to ProQuest, a digital research publications database, and pull out a dozen of recent dissertations on the topic of your interest. Download six dissertations completed by the UoP graduates and six works by graduates of other schools of your choice. Make sure to check out on the Ivies too! Compare the quality of the dissertations you downloaded by considering their methodological approach, scholarly rigor, etc. The U of P is not so bad after all, right? I am attending UoP in a masters program. I have one associate degree from a state school, one associate degree from a community college, a bachelor degree from a state school, and I have taken various courses from other colleges, including Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD, and The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). I actually left UTD to attend UoP because of misleading by the guidance staff and the obvious student cheating that went unobserved.

I have discovered that the same attitude permeates our educational system. The Online colleges are no better or worse than the ground schools. Cheating abounds, instructors have little time for individual attention, and schools are interested in enrollment numbers, graduate placement, and funds received (by whatever means).

So, what have I learned? three basic things:

Your education is what you make of it. If you want to learn, you can; if you want to buy a degree, you can. Its totally up to you. Dont blame the school or the instructors. Blame the US educational system!

Distance learning instructors are not instructors; they are facilitators! Deal with it! Once you understand that and realize nothing is handed to you, then you can take responsibility for your own education. No one to blame anymore.

Just like everything in life it isnt fair! And you will end up with a degree just like the person next to you who goofed off. No, it isnt fair! Its like the joke about medical school, What do they call a person you graduates 345th out of a class of 350 medical students? - Doctor!

So, pick a school where you are comfortable, work hard for yourself - for your own satisfaction, and forget what those around you think or say. In the end it wont matter, but you do have to live with yourself. Why not choose to make you happy instead of someone else.

A few caveats if you are enrolling online:

Both UoP and Axia base participation on posting responses online. Generally it will take you more time to type your responses than it would to speak them in class. This burden works against both student and faculty. If you actually put effort into the assignments, you will need to spend much more than 4-6 hours per week doing the work.

There is a definite disconnect between the instructor and student. The instructors teach via a template and have difficulty deviating from scheduled assignments or modifying it to their own pedagogical style. As a result, students receive a mc-education...thereby diminishing the value of the degree.

Student services have limited accountability. Most of the counselors are centralized in Phoenix, meaning answers to your questions come at their leisure. A great deal are young professionals just out of school or hirees from a temp agency. They're not bad people on the average. They tend to burn out quickly, resulting in a high turnover rate for your specific counselors. The enrollment counselors do not work on commission, but they are judged by a combination of enrollment numbers and "soft skills," such as the amount of time spent on the phone. Ever wonder why you get random calls so often? That would be your reason. Enrollment specialists are only obligated to call you until you attend the 2nd class of you 2nd course; then your retention in class will be charged to the academic counselors. Their performance is based on a combination of retention and "soft skills." They are not counselors, merely salesmen, perhaps duped by altruism and the thought of helping someone better themselves.

Your career building options are limited by the structure of distance education. If you go to a brick and mortar school, you are able to network professionally with colleagues in class, leading to potential business propositions. You cannot achieve the same results working with classmates in different time zones unless you are willing to relocate (a difficulty if you have family responsibilities, etc.).

The lack of admissions standards waters down your classroom constituency. There is a reason why top-tier schools have standardized admissions and requirements. Some people are not fit for college but are able to obtain financing. UoP will enroll them...

It terms of value, a 2005 study surveyed 269 professional recruiters...96% responded saying they would prefer an applicant with a traditional education over that of a distance program. That is not good news if you are using this degree to change fields or move up in your current one.

If you need a degree and cannot attend a traditional school at the campus, check your local institution to see if they offer distance programs. Often state schools do and are significantly cheaper then any of the for-profits, UoP included.

Bottom line: if you need an easy degree that will merely get you a promotion at your current job (and your employer will pay for it), enroll at UoP. Otherwise, try somewhere else...

NO STARS...THIS SO CALLED "UNIVERSITY" IS A COMPLETE SCAM...For the past three years, I have been an online instructor for UOP.  When they hired me all they wanted to see was a copy of my transcript saying that I had a master's degree.  They never checked any of my references and I had zero teaching experience.  What they pay online instructors is pitiful...I received $950 for a five week class.  Students paid $1,500 for each class.  Most classes were 20 students...so do the math...20 x $1,500 = $30,000 - $950 = $29,050 revenue for Apollo Group Inc.  The UOP servers were frequently down and students and instructors were unable to log in to the classrooms.  For some classes, this went on for more than two weeks at a time.  When I started tracking how many hours I was working each week (participating in classroom discussions, grading assignments, and performing administrative work) it turned out I was making less than $10 per hour and I quit.  No wonder most UOP online instructors do the absolute bare minimum when facilitating classes.  Basically the only way instructors are evaluated is when a buzzer goes off in the Phoenix control room and they see that you have not been posting messages 5 out of 7 days per week; you then get a nasty email from the so called "Full Time Development Faculty" staff.  There is no evaluation regarding the instructor's knowlege of subject matter, teaching skills etc. I shudder to think what UOP pays its full time employees...Do they check backgrounds?  Do they require any education?  The communications I have received from the FTDF staff appear to have been written by someone who did not go past fourth grade.  Based on my experience with UOP Online, I would not recommend itto anyone and I would never consider hiring a UOP graduate. 

I am enrolled with UOP in their MIS program and I have had nothing but the best education. I am not sure where the notion that they are not accredited is coming from but they are very much accredited and are not about to lose it. Dispute all the negative comments that most schools get, online or traditional, there would have to be financial problems/crimes going on for an accreditation to be taken away. I think that if you are a good student who can diligently focus on your school work and not wait til the last minute, then UOP is for you. However, if you think you can relax and not login for five days then you will be in trouble. Many employers that I have conversed with are glad to accept degrees from UOP and I think it is solely up to that company, but don't believe that all employers are not going to accept degrees from UOP. Yes, UOP costs alot but what online or traditional school isn't? Especially for graduate students. You just have to pick the school that is right for your situation and not try to make your opinion or your bad experience intimidate others.

By the way, I am a single mother of two and I am in a relationship. I also work full-time so I know what it means to find a program that will help you juggle all that. UOP works for me and I will graduate in June of 2009.

Here's the thing.. I hear a lot of people saying that they got a good eductation from UoP. Thing is, you can get a good education from a public library of you are motivated. The problem is, they do not insist upon you proving your education before handing over a degree. That is why I believe a UoP degree is useless. I know someone that just completed their AA from UoP. They could barely form a complete sentence. I also know someone who is having their friend complete all their homework for them. This person can't even spell their name and they're about to get a degree. Draw what conclusions you want from this, but my feeling is that traditional schools will always have the upper hand for the simple facts that they can be sure you are doing you're own work at least some of the time, and they demand a minimum level of quality in order to pass a class.

this school is an overpriced joke. i enquired with several possible future employers who all said they normally would not take a degree from this so called university seriously. i did enroll and was going to attempt obtaining a degree but wisened up quickly.the sales recruiter(acedemic recruiter only wanting you to attend because they work on commision)mimicked a kirby vacuum salesman.stretching the truth was an art he had mastered. when i disenrolled the 1st day of class he became obsessive and called me numerous times and then got into with my husband,finally his boss had to be notified. please be very cautious enrolling at this business at 325 a credit hr it is not worth your money and is hardly a serious place to obtain a degree also they may tell you they are regionally accreditted but they ARE NOT.

To everyone that has negative issues with the UOP. The world needs to be grateful for a university like this. The creators of the school have created a strategy to become the number one online university in the U.S. This doesn't make the traditional universities very happy because of the new competition. Since the inception of the UOP, many traditional universities began to follow the online strategy. The problem for them is that they cannot compete.

Students who thought they were going to log on to a computer and receive a degree were in for a rude awakening. They (the students) thought the online degree was going to be easy, so most complained about other minor things to belittle the university. Students need to study very hard and submit the required research papers to be successful. Many students were not up for that type of training, so they dropped out. Those of us who are persistent will have a success story to tell.

I'm tired of listening to them that say that you cannot get a quality education from the UOP. The school is ideal for students who work very busy hours, manage families, run companies, or just want to learn. If it were not for schools like the UOP, where would these students attend? Who has time to manage families and attend school physically for hours each week? Let's face it; the invention of the UOP was a phenomenal idea. It has revolutionized the way one is taught as did the Google creators when they discovered a new way to search for information.

UOP has problems like every other educational institution. 300,000 students cannot all be wrong in their decisions. I consider myself to be a very open-minded individual. I can identity students who are trying to get a free ride and those who want an education. Believe me; the school will expose those students who are not there for a serious education because they cannot keep up with the more focused students and will eventually drop out.

So keep in mind when degrading the UOP, this school has built a level of confidence in students who want to succeed in life. Everyone cannot go to private universities due to their personal responsibilities. If you cannot attract the number of students you need to impress your stock holders or create a successful program to compete with the UOP, then you should give the leaders of the UOP the credit they deserve. We are the university that is innovative and transformational and that's what is attracting over 300,000 students.

I am considering attending UOP....my expierences with them so far have been far from bad. My enrolment counselor has been very helpful, without nagging me about submitting paperwork, deadlines, etc. I am going to be pursuing a BS in education.........has anyone gone through the program yet? And if so how was it?

I do not like how stirctly they grade my pappers. I am a senior manager at my copany and am well respected. yet, my teachers gave me low grades based on my writing skills. Ha, what do they know?

I am thinking about going to University of Phoniex but I do want to go to mu local college FAU after I get my A.A. Is it possible that I would be able to attend FAU after I get my degree from UoP?? I attend Uop. I have been there since March of this year. I have had some problems but at the same time I am moving twards my degree and learning more and more. It takes a lot of time a patience to attend this school and do well. If i barely logged in and turned in bad work I would receive failing grades. I think it's sad that people won't honor other peopels hard work at this school. There will always be someone who wants to do nothing and get something in return every where you go. With this said. Good luck to everyone working on improving themselves and dont let others make you loose track of your goals in life.

As someone who actually had prior experience and knowledge before pursuing an UOP degree, I can honestly say that this school is NOT a place of higher learning. Assignments often are explained poorly and/or don't have anything to do with the reading material (like having to write a corporate business letter about failed production goals in a technical writing class that is about writing instruction manuals). The reading material often fails to explain important aspects of the subject at hand or gives very poor explanations, which can make assignments even more difficult to accomplish. For example, there was recently an assignment in one of my classes in which one had to explain the differences between the first to fourth generations of programming languages and object-oriented programming. The text not only failed to explain object-oriented programming but also gave the absolutely worst example of object-oriented programming I have ever seen, making the corresponding assignment pretty much impossible to complete for students that didn't know what object-oriented programming was to begin with. Due to situations like this students that don't have any prior knowledge of the subject being discussed are often left out in the cold and completely lost. My advisors do not contact me (which I don't mind too much but some may). Most importantly though they have not replied to a single phone call or email I have sent them, whether it's regarding school policies, financial matters, or the classes themselves. They sold me and now they're gone.

You would think a for profit college could at least get their reading materials and syllabus right if nothing else.

Has anyone received a decent job offer based on their UOP degree?  In my company, applicants with UOP degrees are normally not considered due to the poor experience (lack of basic technical knowlege, poor communications skills, etc.) we have had in our past hiring of UOP graduates.  I think most of them have been let go by now.  An MBA from UOP and $3 will only buy you a cup of coffee.     

I am working on my Masters in Education and I love the University. I love that all of the work for the class is posted on line and there are no books to buy. I enjoy working with a group even though there are some group dynamic problems that have to be addressed, but then that is the same as in real life so it is also a learning experience. I have to attend an actual campus for my degree and find the campus (other than not having a cafeteria) to be comfortable and well equipped. I would highly recommend UOP to any prospective student unless they didn't think they could handle working in a group since their grade is 60% based on group work.

I don't know much about University of Phoenix but I hear they have excellent online virtual babes.

I have been attending UOP for the past 7 months, and I love it. In the beginning, it was very easy, and of course you think that is how it's going to be. This is not the case, I take two classes at a time. Maybe to some that is nothing, but online, they expect more homework. Which means more reading and comprehension skills. You're writing has to be well above just average. You're not going to post, or write some out of your ass message? Everything has to look perfect all of the time. Another thing is you have to be organized, all of your syllabus's have to be in order, along with the calendar posted for timely assigments.If you're not good with committment, then you won't keep things in order as you go.Your papers wil be all over the place. What I've noticed about UOP is the teachers are not easy. Many times I've posted an accurate amount of times, and I've had that certain teacher who just expects more. They expect alot. Math you have to practically teach yourself, if you don't care, the grade could've always been better per you. Plus the first Math I've ever taken with UOP included Pre-Calc.Sure teach yourself? I did.

Of course you are going to find dissatisfied people wherever you go. However, it is usually the people who can't hack it and don't put any effort in. I have found UOP more challenging than state universities. So maybe you people need to take a step back and look at yourselves. Stop crying!

I am graduate of an ABA law school and needing to defer my huge school loans while I start my own business, have recently started attending UoP. I am in their MBA program. The "education" is a total joke. The classes are extremely easy. The "ass-signments" are pathetic. This is probably the easiest MBA program one can actually do in America. Yes, it is a waste of time, but if this is something you are looking for to defer your loans while you try to figure out a better hustle, you can't go wrong. Also, if you have money you can always pay someone to do the classwork for you. There is not way anyone would ever know.

I am a graduate of the MBA program and found that the course work was appropriate.  Moreover, I met and interacted with many interesting and talented people.  Clearly this program is not for everyone, but it worked well for me.  If you are concerned about Ivy-League pedigree, DO NOT go to UOP.  If you are a mid-career professional with a desire to enhance your skill set and have family responsibilities, then the UOP may be an appropriate option. Fortunately, there are more choices now then when I began the program.  

For the record, I did not experience any significant problems with the academic counseling staff or the financial aid staff. It is my suggestion that you avoid reading the comments from those who have not attended, as they really do not have enough information to make a strong decision.  The bottom-line is that this program worked for me and I was able to work hard and learn skills that have helped me grow professionally.    

Honestly, it doesn't even deserve one star. I've been enrolled in this school for about 2 months now. Never before have I experienced a more disorganized, unprofessional institution. If you want a quality education that is worth you time and effort, this is not the place for you. Everything they tout about convenience is a lie. Please, if you're looking to expand your education, steer very clear of here.

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. I am about to graduate from UOP, but wouldn't recommend it if my life depended on it. At first, I learned a lot and found it very convenient. As time went on, though, entry criteria decreased and so did the faculty. This place is a joke. I simply go and sign in and leave these days. When I am there, I learn nothing and am surrounded by idots who always end up on my learning team. Seriously, I sit next to people who cannot use proper sentence structure, yet they will be next to me graduation day. Complete and total bullshit at a prime price!

want to know about how many times this school is being SUED??? I was 1 day from enrolling when someone from a different college told me to look up ripoffreports.com...seriously i dont think i can trust ANY online colleges so its back to tradition for me!!! dont get screwed!!

I'm only rating to submit a question for anyone attending. I'd like to hear more about the reputation of the school in the business world; I'm not looking to upgrade my skills for my current job, but to move into an administrative or management position. As with any rating site, the opinions seem to average out to around 3/5. I'm not worried about workload, but I don't want to devote a lengthy period of time in a program with a degree that doesn't equal one with "realtime" classroom experience.

I am a student at UOP (Axia) and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. Im just about ready to complete my degree and the schools has been excellent in all my dealings with them.

I am not an employee of UPX, but I do hope to someday be an online instructor. If you are having troubles, it might be that it is much better to get set up by going in, and sitting down and NOT LEAVING, until those turkeys have you in the system with a password and good to go. If you take your attitude with you, success will be the only possible outcome. They will make it happen, while you are there.

I have been trying to get enrolled with the UOP for almost two months now. I sent them information for my financial aid and enrollment worksheet eight times via fax. The first three times they claimed that the forms were not dated. Then claimed that the last four weren't received at all. I have had a total of four dates to begin classes and have yet to do anything. I have had three enrollment counselors so far and nothing had been done yet. I believe that the positive reviews they have received on this site were from employees and not students. Nice try!

i am currently considering attending the university of phoenix so that i can become an lvn. if there is an lvn who graduated from uop i would be very pleased to hear what you have to say about uop.

The only thing I am concerned about is, am I going to be able to get a good job from a degree from an online college. The work seems ok the very first block is a little boring but all in all I am happy with the classes.

I am currently a student with UofP. My classes are a joke. I spend 10 minutes on Sundays writing out my assignments for the week, and I log in for maybe 2 minutes each class every other day. I pull the answers for the discussion questions right out of my ass. My teachers are always saying what a wonderful job I do with my Discussion Questions and assignments. I don't even try. My enrollment counselor and acedemic counselor call me mulitple times a week for no apparent reason at all. I am a co-host of a radio show that myself and my partner started ourselves. I am simply getting my associates and bachelors incase we decide to grow. I have had three teachers now who's first language is obviously not english. However, my teachers who barely speak english and can't fix their own grammer, feel the need to correct mine. I am so dissapointed in this school and can't wait to graduate. I wouldn't recomend this school to my worst enemy. This has been such a waste of time and money for me. To all current and future students, good luck to you!
