When they are fresh and lightly salted McDonald's french fries are as good as any others. The consistency is terrible though, some places drench them in salt and every McDonald's uses a batch until it's gone whether it is cold and stale or not.

I heard that an ingredient in McDonald's fries was beef flavoring. I decided to check it out on their website, and sure enough. Now every time I go through the drive thru, I can't help but think of the beef flavoring in the fries. Also, they have too much salt, and sometimes they are over cooked. On many occasions, they tasted like they were left over from lunch and had been heated up many times between the lunch rush and mid afternoon. McDonald's isn't at the top of my list for places to get fries.

When you get a fresh batch...these are the best fries you can get at a fast food joint.

I hate fast food and hardly ever eat it.When eating on the go subs are good.Mcdonalds has terrible food for the most part,but credit where credit is due , they do have the best french fries of all fast food places,well all places really for that matter. The only place to have fries that good has been whataburger.

I love it when you go through drive-thru and get your food and you can smell the warm fries in the bag. And then you snack on them on the way home.

Attention, all ye grizz fans! Take a can of Grizzly and mix thoroughly with Ketchup at McDonalds. Use the resulting mix for a dip for your french fries. MMMMMMM! GOOOOOOD!

I get my Single from Wendy's, my Pepsi from KFC, then over to McD's for the fries. At first I likened the change in oils to New Coke, but I've gotten used to the new fries. Still the best.

  I know it's a thread about McD, but...  In pursuit of blackened alligator [I was disappointed..this place is no Ralph & Kacoos], I stumbled upon some of the most wonderful fries at, of all places....Pappadeaux's!  Me and the little guys couldn't get over our find! You can't drive up to the window for these but you can slide up to the bar ;) Carry on.

Depends on which McD's I go to. Some don't drain them enough and some over-salt them.

My only complaint would be that stupid sleeve they serve them in. You can't stand it up and too often they don't fill it completely.

Being a child of the 60's and from a lower income family, McDonalds was a treat reserved for special occasions. I grew up worshipping the fry basket. Nothing was better than McDonalds fries. Now that I can have them anytime I want, they have somewhat lost the childhood appeal. Like other raters have noted, if you can get the fries freshly and properly cooked, they're still pretty good. All the health concerns aside, it's still one of the better fries out there.

When they are made right and served hot they are the best in the business.

They're okay. Did you know they add sugar and corn starch to their fries? Did you know they fry them in a grease with a melting point above that of wax? That's why they feel like wax when they get cold.

To quote Futurama, "That's the saltiest thing I've ever had, and I once ate a heaping bowl of salt!"
