Complete idiot. I can't stand him. Every time I see him I feel like smacking him. I love to see when Jim Everett smacked him. Rome is an annoying jackass who was just asking for it, and he's lucky Everett didn't deform his face.

Rome can be hilarious, especially when he rants about athletes' shady off-the-field behavior or non-pro-sports-related stuff like out-of-control Little League dads. The show is way too long...take out all the repetition, the antics with the Clones (how sad do you have to be, to be in that group?) the dumb fake emails, and the long pauses, and you'd have a pretty decent hour-long show.

I listen all the time and I love the show. The only thing I don't like is how he goes off on his rants and ends up repeating himself about 20 times. I guess thats what you have to do for a 3 hour show with one host.

The Jungle is by far the most interesting and entertaining sports talk show. He beats the crap out of the cookie cutter hosts on ESPN Radio. He speaks his mind and does not pull punches. It is the best three hours on sports radio even on an off day.

He piqued my interest when I read how QB Jim Everett literally beat him up on TV after Jim Rome kept calling him Chris Everett. Though his Radio Show is Left-Coast biased, it is by far the funniest and most entertaining sports talk radio show around. Rome is not for everyone and not everyone gets his schtick (for example, I laugh when I hear Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies, Wookies!). But, it's like Mystery Science Theater 3000, the RIGHT people get it. There have been times I have laughed so loud after hearing takes like the Open Faced Roast Beef Sandwich Take that our secratary came to my office and made sure I wasn't convulsing. Jim Rome also has insightful interviews with real athletes and his callers are all funny and interesting. Even the sucky callers become high-comedy as Rome runs them off the air and rips them to pieces. Most sports talk shows don't even take calls and you get stuck with listening to crap like on ESPN, where you can be lullabied with Mike I never played sports Greenberg debating with a Fat Lineman over the who would be your Mount Rushmore of Baseball. None of that crap on Rome. Rome's show is interspersed with hilarious E-Mails sent by callers (One of mine got read once). One of my greatest life achievments was being huge caller of the day. I ranted about how the Olympics coverage was like watching The View and how Star Jones ate Carly Patterson during an interview. Rack Me.

Puts his own attitude and coolness before quality sports journalism. Completely childish.

Without a doubt the Pimp in the Box is the most popular and respected sports radio personality on air today. You haters don't like him because he speaks his mind and doesn't follow the crowd of talking heads who are more concerned with kissing ass.
CanadaSucks 09/12/2004
Used to be funny. Now he kisses too much ass. He used to rip NASCAR (a total non-sport) now he kisses redneck ass. Doesn't ask the tough questions like he used to. . .it's like he wants to be friends of atheletes instead of getting a story. Although the e-mails are funny. . .

Many years ago when I first heard him I liked the show. But now I cant stand it. He's a hypocrite who's sold out a long time ago. He pushes products during commercials on his radio show that he used to rip on not long ago.Fantasy sports for example. Plus now he'll have nascar guests on and kiss there ass when back in the day he used to make fun or them constantly. What a sellout.

I loved it when ESPN moved his Rome is Burning TV show from 7 PM EST to the coveted 12 midnight slot. That's one step away from going off the air! On radio he's okay, but TV is horrible.

rome is dead on most of the time. he does what talk show hosts do... give opinion. if we disagree or dont like it, we turn the channel. you either get him or you dont. his fan base suggests that people get him and his smack. arrogant? yes! brash? yes. poignant? yes. controversial? depends on your point of view. knows his sports and is respected by the majority of the athletes and writers in the sports world? the fact that he gets the best interviewees and gets the best interviews out of them says it all! no one carries a show like rome!!!
Whereareyouat2 000 06/28/2004
Very insightful, gives a straight forward opinion and will say what he thinks and is honest about things.
Frontroe 06/25/2004
I would give him a zero if I could

Terribly annoying. I love sports talk of all sorts, but this is one guy who I just can't stand listening to. He is such a pompous jerk. I still love thinking about Jim Everett throwing him to the ground back in the day, when ESPN foolishly gave the man his own show.
Ninobene 04/15/2004
Are you kidding me?! I guess he appeals to you if you are an angry suburban passive white guy who enjoys bitching into a defenseless phone because your life sucks and your wife is fat. Classic short mans syndrome from a runt who wishes he were an athlete. Dear Rome.........you suck.......signed, 99.9% of America He reminds me of the annoying guy who tries too hard to impress the girl. Worthless noise.
ronnyvon 04/04/2004
Rome is funny to listen to for sure, I think his show is great but he does kiss a little too much ass
gopman79 02/10/2004
If I said the words that I feel for him, I would be kicked off this website.
TKM0003 11/12/2003
A legend and rapidly becoming one of the most powerful men in the sports media world.
Asap28 10/12/2003
His scripted rants, west coast bias and ass kissing interviews are old and tired.
