My name is Lisa Hunt, I was episode 5 on Houston Medical. The last images you saw of me dancing were sadly not maintainable. I had several surgeries back to back, including that very next week. I had 17 surgeries up to that point. Dr Coupe suggested amputating my leg. I couldnt. Since then Ive had 9 more. I have had 2 separate Ilizarovs in two more years time. The last one which stretched my leg out the 6 inches BUT I fell and rebroke my femur. Ive had MAJOR staph and strep infections. I found Dr Brinker, who finally put me vertical again. On February 18 2005 I finally got a new knee and prosthetic femur. I walked March 5 2005 without any help. It was short lived as nerves were in hyper sensory mode. March 29th 2005 I started with a incredible gifted Physical Therapist, Ben Renfrow, of First Colony Aquatics. He soon had me walking once again. I walk unassisted now. Im still shakey. My leg is almost 2 inches shorter. I am getting my boots resoled and lifted. I want to dance. I need to dance. I need a dance partner. I will learn to watch them play Volleyball at Memorial Park without me.

All I wanted to know is if this show is finished. Would really liked to have followed the staff and their stories. How is Marnie after her last bout with cancer? Thanks for any info you can forward to me.

I was hooked on this show the first minute I watched it. I made sure to have my box of kleenex's nearby for the following Houston Medical shows. My husband, John, asked why I watched it if it is so sad? I explained it's because it's a good cry; I really care about all of the people and what happens to them. I especially relate to the pediatric doctor who is struggling with her brain cancer. I also had brain surgery for a brain tumor last summer and I was only 30. I can't emphasize, enough, how traumatic it is to go through that. It was such a relief to see her story; I haven't met too many people who have gone through brain surgery (it was like my own private support group!). I really related to what she had to say and all of the emotions she was going through. If I ever feel down about the situation I am going through, I am going to think of her and her fight. She is an amazing person. I want to thank ABC for this show; it has really helped me cope.(I am sorry it has not been on the past three weeks; I really miss it!) Rebecca

My family watches this show together and the personal stories of the docs make the show very real. We almost feel as though the patients are members of our family.I do hope they will see fit to keep this show on the air and take off some of the junk that passes as entertainment if the schedule is tight. This is real and needs to be seen.

This show takes the viewer beyound the technical realities of life in a hospital in a major city. It delivers each viewer the personal level of ehmotional hurt and pain each patient is going through and those of that patients extended family. The show is in depth and one I would watch this over anyother show currently on television anywhere. It is a plus. Now my question would be, is it over permanently? Thank all of you who have made this show and this website.

Houston Medical is thoroughly enthralling. I care about the patients and feel like I know the doctors. I am especially concerned about Dr. Marnie Rose and hope she will have good news in the next show. The mixture of patients and doctors, the various personalities involved plus the fact that these are real people makes this medical series fascinating and unique.

Houston Medical is great, but still I think that it needs more insightful commentary so that people can understand what is going on. The medical student clips are awesome. A good example: The young woman was being "pimped" by what appeared to be an attending, and was asked a question on a concept (blood gas analysis)that most third year medical students struggle to grasp, and then is openly humiliated by the "witch" of an attending on national television. Most people would think that the young lady is struggling academically, but really she is simply being put through a process called "pimping" which still exists in the medical training field as a viable entity. In reality, it is a two- pronged fork that serves in the right capacity to keep medical students and residents reading and keeping current. On the other hand, it can be used as a powerful hazing tool for personal vendettas against students and residents that some attendings just simply do not like.

This is the best medical series I have ever seen. This makes ER look tame. You really feel for the characters and the stories are compelling.
