It's just comedy folks! Why do you have to strain your brains to disect his show?

I love the Hendrie show!!! I used to login to AM640 KFI out of LA. They took him off the air!!!! unbelievable!!! what a mistake to put him on AM570 and they don't even have a working Streaming Audio!!!! Are there any AM/FM stations that cover this show LIVE on Streaming Audio??? Help me Please!!!
AMFanDave 02/28/2005
I have been a big fan of Hendrie since 1999. He is perhaps the most talented and original person on radio today with all his various characters, voices and comedy situations. It is very sad indeed that, due to his political rants and his poor attendance record (many of his shows were reruns the last few months), Phil has been relegated to a low-power, low-rated station like 570 AM. I believe this move was made by Clear Channel because (1)his recent behavior caused his ratings to plummet and (2) management thought he was getting too big for his britches and decided to put him in his place. KLAC has, and probably will continue, to pre-empt his program with sports shows, and that, apparently, is part of his punishment. He would be doing his Southern California fans a big favor if we could get his show live through streaming audio off of his website for free, but he continues to charge $6.95 a month for that privilege. My advice to him would be to grow up, eat a little humble pie, show up for work, and make his show and archives available at no charge, at least for awhile, until he can get back on KFI. With a no-talent John and Ken wannabe like John Ziegler, it shouldn't be long before that time slot on 640 AM is available again
saigonmike 02/26/2005
Phil , despite kowtowing to Bush to get the FCC off his back, is the greatest genius in radio comedy. But some force (liberals, Maria?) have effectively knocked him out of his home Los Angeles market. His show allegedly moved to XTRA Sports 570 in the primetime 1900-2200 slot. But the show is preempted by any sporting event that is available. Here's some free abvice for Phil... (1) Let your comedy make your political points; (2) Don't tell people how great you are and how you do the voices; you'll get more unsuspecting callers who contribute greatly to the show; (3) Drop Cortoslim; (4) Get an agent who can keep you on a regular LA station during primetime. Good luck, Phil.
ericdabbs 02/24/2005
I don't know why this Phil Hendrie Show is on Xtra sports 570 in Los Angeles. This is obviously not a sports show, so I do not know why they would put such a show in the first place. Please get off the air and get back Crockett and Carlos Del Valle from 7pm -10pm on weekdays.

phil hendrie for ever.
boston swirlie 02/20/2005
as the graph shows, you love him or hate him. personally, i think he's brilliant - with the exception of his recent support of Dubya - but I can overlook that. Hands down the most brilliant in radio. Especially if you have the misfortune to be working in pedestrian radio - it's a ray of hope.
angelfire101 02/19/2005
once you get the joke the show becomes predictable and boring. i liked him better when he did serious commentary on current affairs. he is brilliant.
kkccwebb 02/18/2005
Phil Hendrie is simply the most talented man on radio. His entire show is truly comedy gold. His political rants are right on. Too bad if his anti-PC stances are offensive to the tender ears of some of his more sensitive listeners. KFI 640 AM in L.A. will lose both listeners and ratings by moving him to 570 AM.
Herb_Sewells_K id 02/15/2005
My only problem with this show is that I listen to it far too much...Phil is the funniest man on radio and a true originator. If you enjoy comedy as an art form, and don't think everything in life must be taken so seriously, you'll love Phil.
dononothing 02/10/2005
I have loved the Phil Hendrie show. It is an original, and really does show (in comparison) the very low quality of entertainment that almost all other radio is giving us. On the other hand, Phil's political rants have not been enjoyable for me to listen to (and ARE like most other radio!). I am more liberal in my views, true, but this stuff gets mean spirited and condescending, as though he must be right, and you gotta be a dumby if you don't agree... I don't find this enjoyable or entertaining. It makes me agitated and angry, and what IDIOT would want put himself into that kind of a state? So, I thank Phil for the laughs and chuckles and improved spirits that he has given me (like when I had the flu and was even laughing in the midst of puking!), but if he insists on being right, then he will lose the ability to entertain a large portion of his potential audience.
Manyofusfeelli kethis 02/06/2005
I heard your show driving home from work. What a bunch of trash. This is just adolescent pimples that are pus. You call this entertainment? I emailed the radio station and totally complained, along with others, and you are off the station. So get it off of your list of radio stations, cause buddy you no longer exist in this town. Thank God, cause you extremely suck!
Nedster 02/03/2005
Thia is a show I hate to listen to but love it when I do. As long as I don't listen too much! Phil is an original...
MeTooMeToo 11/30/2004
At first it was hard for me to get into the mind of Phil Hendrie. After a few minutes I had to turn those people off. But little by little, I realize they were quite talented and I had no idea where Mr. Hendrie could assemble a troupe of radio personalities who could consistently maintain a level of such peculiarly concrete thinking and personality disturbances. I thought they must be rehearsing constantly. One day I went onto his website and realized he's DOING ALL THE VOICES HIMSELF. He's a genius. For me, however, listening to his show is like eating a banana split. If you're not careful, you can overdo it! But there's no other show like this. (I also have come to appreciate his political monologues which I feel are right on target. His friendly, pseudo-obnoxious ranting style is quite pleasant I feel.)
Yobsthead 11/18/2004
This is simply the best show on radio. Either you get it or you don't. I can't help noticing that all the criticism of his show centers around not liking his oppinions on the Iraq war. Or so it would seem. Not any critique of the rythm or timing of the show, if his voice is good or not, wheather his voice compels you to keep listening or even his bumper music. Instead it's like:my feelings were hurt-one star. Nobody seemed to mind when Phil berated the Republicans for removing Governor Grey Davis, or his support for gay marrage or his making fun of Rush Limbaugh's drug bust. Nobody was offended when he raged against Ann Colter. Nobody quit listening to his show when he refered to Michael Savage as a Nazi. Nobody gave his show a bitter, sarcastic one-star rating for lambasting the fundamentalist Christian wing of the Republican party. But oh man! Explaining how a Democrat can support the war effort-OMG! take it off the air! What Phil did WAS show how a Democrat could support the war-or more precisely-the schizm within the Democratic party. Now THAT'S forbidden knowlege. The Schizm I refer to is between the traditional variety of Democrat and the Deanocrat. The Democrats were highjacked again, as they have been before from time to time. Phil showed the devide, and gets punished by the Air America fans. That is the real issue here. As Phil put it once, you're not entitled to have an oppinion of your own. Another thing about these one-star ratings. Notice how most of the critics of this excellent show only posted a rating on THIS show? Seriously-they logged on to this site just to whine about the Phil Hendrie show. No ratings for other shows, just this one. What's up with that? The Phil Hendrie show is a masterpiece of satire. Have you heard his parodies of Tom Laikis or Art Bell? When people get roped into the performance, the show shines. His genius in deducing peoples' intentions is quite remarkable. His show isn't for everyone, much to the delight of those that it is for.
bdunes 11/17/2004
Phil Hendrie is a tremendous talent and I enjoyed his show for many years until he was usurped by the ghost of Rush Limbaugh. What happened? Lobotomy? Now, like Dennis Miller he's just another right wing hack. Sad.
brevolution 11/09/2004
This program is trite. I don't mind right wingers if they have a point. The only thing he can come up with is overt rude shock jock wannabe segments. He transitions through these segments with ignorant baseless opinions that make the show sound condescending to itself. Ignorance is bliss, be happy somewhere besides Air America.
Shanianne 11/05/2004
A fresh and funny show that gets you the first time, and makes you want to come back for more.
RonM 10/31/2004
I have been listening to Phil Hendrie for about eight years now, with a hiatus for about three of those years (2001 to 2003)...just wasn't driving at the time his show was on. Over the past year or so, I've been downloading his shows, so I listen to just about every one when I have time. I think I've had just about enough of him and his stunts right about now. I don't think I will be renewing my subscription to his web site, and here's why: (1) I don't bother with the BS political commentary hours. BS because he portends to be a political analyst, but he clearly exhibits a broad ignorance of current and historical politics. In addition, he repeatedly calls himself a registered democrat (and perhaps he still is), but I think that is only a ruse to justify and lend some ostensible credibility to his right-wing dribble. The man clearly has changed his political philosophy, why not re-register as a republican or an independent? Phil, you are a democrat in the historical sense only. (2) His charcter shows now are all political, painting his characters as idiotic liberals trying to push a certain agenda, an agenda that the host of the show (Phil) and his callers easily tear to pieces. I get the feeling that Phil is actually trying to sway public opinion to the right (those who are listening who don't know the show is a ruse). I still find him very funny, but I also feel increasingly uncomfortable with Phil's attempts to interject political philosophies even in his comedy routines. I have a feeling if Kerry wins, this will just continue on and on. If so, I believe Phil will continue to lose his fan base. In conclusion, if it weren't for the BS political hours and the interjection of politics in the comedy routines, I would easily give him a 5. Phil, please dump the politics and go back to doing strictly comedy. As Clint Eastwood once said, A good man has got to know his limitations.
Edgard Vanthes 10/25/2004
No, no, no! Whoever said that the show is mostly comedy and just a bit of political commentary is full of crap! I used to listen to Phil for two years. But he went Dennis Miller on us (turned into a right wing fundamentalist) and I've stopped tunning in on his show for several months. Do I miss it? Nope. I didn't agree with his opinions on the Iraq war but what really made me turn away from this Rush Limbaugh-wannabe, was the fact that he didn't think those Swift Boat Vets against John Kerry were lying and making all that crap up (attacking a guy who actually went to Vietnam and not those other guys who indirectly supported the commies BY DODGING THE DRAFT as in George Bush and Dick Cheney!). It bothered me that Phil claims to know history and politics and yet he went ahead and believed all that manured those vets made up to tarnish the military record of a war veteran. That was it for me. I gave a big F.U. to Phil after that. Because it was plain and clear that he's just another right-wing-fundamentalist-obese-middleage-white-moron. 'nuff said.

News flash for Air America listeners: it's a COMEDY show people! This is the smartest, most mischievous and downright pee-your-pants funny piece of entertainment running on any medium today. What's more--at any given time, half the people listening don't even understand it. Brilliant! So the guy doesn't always recite the party line for the Air America affiliates. Is that really all you want from your entertinment? You do realize that talk radio is entertainment, don't you? Phil does. This guy devotes a very small portion of the show to political comment. The rest is refreshing intentional nonsense. Most shows are nonsense and they don't even know it. That's what makes this show uniuqe, and that's the whole point. Do yourself a huge favor my politically fixated friends--relax and try to get in touch with that old dusty sense of humor you have buried in there. If you do, you'll have to admit it's funny. Even if only to yourself.
vera92 10/17/2004
This show is the worst, most disgusting pile of garbage I have ever heard, an evening graveyard. When I first heard it, I thought it was a plot by Clear Channel to bomb Air America, since it comes on aftwards, masquarading and mixing itself up with progressive radio. Why do they put Phil Hendrie on after Air America if not to twist and distort (mostly)liberal points of view and make them seem utterly sick? But I digress...there is no wit so the content is all scatalogical jokes, sexism, and complete stupidity. I'm thinking of complaining to the FCC, or at least the Clean Channel program directors.
fish09 10/07/2004
His premise is to piss you off...thats how he gets people to call in. If you left a bad rating here and say how horrible his show is, hundred bucks says you still listen! So the jokes on you. He is extremely talented and friggin hilarious. If you like his work, you can also find him on Futurama, King of the Hill and the upcoming movie Team America
1111 10/01/2004
I wish I could add a vote for 0 stars. This show is terrible, and the fact that our (god forbid) clear channel supported progressive radio station is air america for a few hours, an occasional Buffs game, but after 9 pm, swings right back to the right - utterly disgusting waste of broadcast time.
grussem 09/29/2004
I think Phil is an innovative and great talent. The only people that don't like him are the raving lunatics that listen to nothing but air america. Even if you don't agree with his politics, you have to admit, politics aside, the guy is hilarious. Thanks for supporting the troops Phil, Semper Fi.
stsfan 09/14/2004
I guess folks love him or hate him, I think this show is absolute garbage!! A total waste of airtime and not worth much more than a late night needle mover. Even at that, I could think of better ways to move a needle - How about rerunning Emergency Broadcast tones for a few hours? Phil talks to himself, a trademark of hosts who have no REAL callers (and it begs the question, how many of even his real callers are in fact real?) and then hawks all the junk for sale on his website every 3 minutes. I see why, to be carried on so many stations he must be GIVING his show away, gotta sell all those shirts and coffee mugs to keep eating. It's like a giant Phil Hendrie Dollar Store infomercial punctuated with bouts of multiple personality disorder! Phil jokes, The death of talk radio -- but indeed it is! I hope I never have to hear this lame lame show again, and no I'm not some angry duped caller, but I am angry, my local station plays this thing 5 nights a week while relegating shows qualifying as REAL TALK RADIO to weekend reruns - Grrr! Hurry up and tank already, then maybe I can convince the ProgDir to fix that.
jtolleson1 09/13/2004
He made me laugh out loud and I'm just sick that he's been dropped by Denver's KHOW.
RC 09/10/2004
The show is very funny, but what is funnier is how angry most of you get with Phil just because he supports President Bush.
JackBob 09/07/2004
Oh dear heavens! Here in Madison, WI, today Air America just went on our airwaves (yay!) however as I was listening to the station tonight I heard a show I'd never heard before called Phil Landrie. I thought I'd been shuttled into an alternate universe. What was this person doing broadcasting on our new progressive station??? As I heard him saying that all of the arguments AGAINST going to war in Iraq were debunked a long time ago, I honestly wondered if HE was getting his news from an alternate universe (apparently FOX news only!). I had to immediately investigate who this man is and what is his M.O. I love to laugh, but nothing this guy said was funny. Perhaps there was some ironic laughter in the audacity of his statements that contradict many recent reports and common knowledge. Does he really consider himself a Democrat? Like Zell Miller considers himself a Democrat, perhaps. Whatever! Get off my progressive radio station--I'm taking it up with them next!
PhilSUcksall 08/30/2004
Phil Sucks, Just like liposuction, all that was good about his show was sucked out. You get about one funny call in three hours if you are lucky, and that is usually a rehash comedy gold. You will get this loser selling fat sucking medicine over and over again. Never thought he could sink so low, and enough already with the I'm a democrat and the constant Kerry and company bashing. Just unzip W's fly and give us an honest expression of you love for the Republicans. Phil you suck, take your money and leave no one cares anymore.
Bengals160 08/26/2004
Phil is by far one of the most talented people on radio these days. I will say that I would rather not hear his rants that gill up half the show nowadays. But in Phil's defense, it's got to be VERY hard to keep coming up with material for his bits. You can tell how talented he is in the fact that Comedy Central has a blatant ripoff of Phil's show starting this fall. It's called Crossballs or something like that. I hope Phil is spoofing the genre for years to come!
philsucks 08/25/2004
Phil has joined the ranks of Dennis Miller--sell out to the right-wing machine. As others on this page have stated, he was once funny, but gee, once he worked out a TV program on the Fox network his gig went south fast, what a coincidence. My hope is that he fades into obscurity, much like Dennis is doing.
avenal 08/06/2004
you need to could come to the realization that Cortislim and the Cortislimer, Greg Cynaumon are a definite distraction to you and Maria. Things can't be that bad that you need to associate with this CON.
jeev 08/05/2004
I gave up on Phil for good the night he literally advocated physical violence against some dumb kid who had the temerity to call his half-jewish son Bagel Boy and then proceeded, with zero irony and a blatant disregard for consistency, to unleash a stream of invective against the Ragheads. Phil used to be funny, and he still is on those rare occasions when he returns to form -- but too often these days he spends his time pontificating just like 99% of the other self-important, right-wing jackasses on talk radio.
yqueenp 07/18/2004
I used to be a huge Phil Hendrie fan a few years back. Now I am glad the local station has snatched his show off the air and replaced it with FOX sports (I hate FOX sports!). Like many others, I got fed up with Phil's nightly tirades about politics, morals, the war and other things he obviously knows little about. Even worse, I got sick of the chastising and rudeness callers were subjected to, when they wouldn't agree with his point of view. Oh, and I really loved how he wanted all of America to know that he's screwed a few black women in the day --- and made sure to rub it in the faces of black male callers (how childish and immature can you get?!) Phil Hendrie needs to stick to the schtick, because no one wants to here his nightly bulls*%t!
anakenobi 06/30/2004
Phil Hendrie calls himself a student of history. And yet what he does is that he makes up history to wrap around his opinions to pass them as the truth. He claims to be an expert on everything from the second World War, the Korean War, Vietnam up to the Iraq Wars. But in fact, he's giving you the Fox Channel/Conservative version of all those events. Phil Hendrie calls himself a Democrat. If that is true, then he has to be the most conservative Democrat ever! C'mon Phil, the only differance between you and Rush Limbaugh is a few hundred pounds and the weekly paycheck. In fact, Phil agrees with basically every conservative ideal there is. So how come he goes around calling himself a Democrat? I tell you why... because he doesn't want to admit that he's just another three-legged-poop spewing conservative dishing out facist propaganda over the air waves. That's why! Phil also claims to be catholic. And yet he basically thinks the Pope is Satan or some silly Nazi agent. It seems to me that in order to add credibility to his opinions, Phil HAS to say that he's an expert or that he's some way connected to that which he has an opinion of. But the SAD truth is he deosn't know anything ! At all! He's just an average joe afraid of many things just like your average conservative. When someone calls up his show and confronts his ideas he barks them down and it quickly becomes a one way conversation where his OPINION is law. When Michael Moore's movie points out the Bush Family-Ben Laden Family connection, Phil ignores it and tries to diminish that fact with stupid comments like saying that since Moore's father worked at General Motors, a company that is taking american jobs out of the country, then Moore is responsible for that. What? Phil, the Ben Laden Family gave BILLIONS of dollars to the Bush Family! Go see the movie first and then try to educate your listeners! Other than Phil becoming another Rush-clone, he sure makes people laugh with his silly voices!
brassfemur2000 06/18/2004
Once was the best shows ever in Radio, now Phil is self destructing before our very ears. I wish he would just go Deerhunter himself and be done with it. Dead Air would be better than the slop he is serving up nowadays. Get tapes of his Florida days before he went to the Limbaugh Network, you will never listen to the new stuff again.
NRS3 06/10/2004
I used to really hate his program because I was so into issues-oriented talk radio that I didn't have a sense of humor. It's perfect for those with a gallows sense of humor and bitting satire. The Iraq War and the FCC have made his show less interesting lately but it's a lot better than most of the crap on the radio today. Not perfect but almost so. Five stars.
USMC_0324 06/01/2004
I think Phil is great, I wind down listening to his show. He has a grat talent to be able to do what he does and for as long as he has done it. he has a no bullshit, no hold barred tell it like it is attitude and I love it. If you cant handle the heat of the truth then get the hell out of the kitchen.
cyde 05/31/2004
Comedy gold!
mrmeadows 05/12/2004
I was addicted to this show in its early days in LA, when all it was about was making the listener laugh as hard as humanly possible. However, the show took a hard turn South after 9-11, unfortunately. Phil's usual 3 hours of fun became about 90 minutes of fun and 90 minutes of ethnic slurs (against Arabs, mostly) and war cheerleading. I don't care what Phil's opinions are, but he's no current affairs expert, and his rants are not only aggravating in their ignorance, but just plain tiresome to listen to after about 10 minutes. His show has gone from a 5-star must-listen to a 2-star piece of garbage (I'll throw him an extra star since when he DOES have talent when it comes to the voices). Oh well, I have plenty of tapes and MP3s to enjoy from Phil's funny days.
Feldknocker 05/11/2004
Phil may not be for everyone, but I never miss it. The funniest guy on radio by far.
ConanTheRepubl ican 04/23/2004
Phil is brilliant. At first, I thought he was just working with a shill calling in. Then, I found that he does the host, AND the callers, and sometimes more than one. HILARIOUS STUFF! Conan the Republican

bob_smith1100 04/16/2004
The only thing that makes me turn off the TV for three hours a day. For those who don't find Phil hilarious, you need to loosen up and not take things so seriously.
kyeseki 04/09/2004
If you know the scoop it's not all that funny.
Jeffrey2223 03/28/2004
With all the crap that's on TV and film nowadays, Phil is breathing some fresh air into our entertainment. The guy is extremely talented and worth your time. The characters are rich, the political talk is insightful, and the show is just fun. There's finally someone who isn't afraid to speak their mind and use our ridiculous culture to his advantage. I understand that radio show hosts may not be seen as talented as the stellar performers in movies (ie Ben Affleck, J. Lo, etc), but this guy breaks the mold. As far as I'm concerned, he's too good for TV and the silver screen. But, you either dig him or you don't.
NWHSLB 03/19/2004
Definatly the best show ever. If you haven't heard this show, you must.
4real 03/07/2004
What kind of demographic would a host have to attract in order to dupe callers into thinking they are railing at real guests? Hendrie even says repeatedly that he provides both ends of the interview and they still fall for it. Lame! And the background burps are getting old. I can only get off on a radio ship of fools for so long. But his rants are funny more often than not so he is worth an occasional listen.
