I used to work for Hollywood Video and loved each day I went to work. Yes we had upset customers and yes we had employees that should not have been working for us at the time. Other than the fact that you cant get anyone in the company to take you seriously about problems going on in the store you tend to sink or swim. I was terminated on my day off for coming in the store to help the new shift leader on duty who was overwhelmed with her crew calling in sick on her. She made a mistake using my code and they fired me without warning no prior write ups no prior counselings, poor girl did not not know what she was doing and needed a pass code for certain functions. I was with my family that day and had to go help her in fear of upsetting customers with lines. go figure i put in my own time and got fired....I loved working for this place... i loved the customers ....i loved the movies...I thought i was in the perfect job...

we have 2 choices here hollywood video and blockbuster. our 1st choice is hollywood video its closer but we hardly rent at all anymore. its just as easy to buy it

I've read some of the concerns addressed about Hollywood Video; most of them ranging from neglegent late charges to an unfriendly staff. Let me remind you (for those of you complaining about the unfriendly staff) about the employees at Hollywood. They aren't brought it from Hollywood corporate and dispursed among the different store locations; believe it or not, they are people who live in your home town. That's right, your home town; your neighbors! Now, if you just so happen to live in a town where not everyone is friendly... use your common sense and figure out whether or not the employees are going to be friendly. With that aside, Hollywood Video's mission statement includes a little something about providing an exceptional guest experience. All employees are encouraged to greet and thank all guests at all times. Now, if an employee doesn't do this, is it Hollywood's fault? It's the employees lack of doing his or her job. As a member of the management of our store (yes, I work at Hollywood Video), I'd like to share one little bit of experience. I've dealt with upset customers more times than anyone should have to. I do my best to clear any late fees that are in anyway questionable or personaly search for a movie that isn't returned when the guest feels that it was returned. If your local Hollywood store doesn't have a team of employees that do this, I'm sorry, but that team isn't quite up to par. Bashing the Hollywood name is unjust, and believe me, would you like me to come to your office and chew you out? If I don't goto your place of employment and chew you out, why would you do the same to me? It's a movie store for pete's sake! Act a little more mature and I guarantee you, your visit will be more pleasant. I usually void more than 3-5 late fees per 8 hour shift that I work when there's doubt on either party's part. Do you think I'd void those fees if you're all pissed off at me, or rather if you were understanding and polite? For those of you who enjoy Hollywood Video, I thank you very much. You are the guests that make my day much more enjoyable! Also, if you have a problem, take it up with a Shift Director, Assistant Store Director, or even the Store Director. We'd be more than happy to make it more enjoyable for you! If you want to see a great Hollywood Video store in action, come visit us in Cedar City, Utah.

PEOPLE LSITEN UP. ME BEING EMPLYEED BY HOLLYWOOD AND READING ALL YOUR COMPLAINTS IS STUFF I HEAR EVERYDAY. YES MY EMPLOLYEES ARE SOMETIMES RUDE, BNUT MAYBE IF THE CUSTOMERS TREATED US THE WAY THEY WANT US TO TREAT THEM THERE WOULD BE LESS DRAMA AND MORE RENTING. AND AS FOR BLOCKBUSTER BUYGIN US, YES THATS TRUE BUT THERE IS ANOTHER COMPANY THAT WANTS TO BUY US. NOTHNG IS FOR SURE YET BUT REGARDLESS NOTHING WILL CHANGE WE WILL STILL DO THE SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CARRY THE SAME NAME. BEING A HOLLYWOOD VIDOE EMPLOYEE AND READING SOME RATINGS HAS MADE ME MORE HAPPY KNOWING THAT PEOPLE REALLY DO APPRECIATE OUR HARD WORK. KEEP RENTING FROM US EVERYONE =o)

DID ALL OF YOU HOLLYWOOD VIDEO FANS HERE THAT BLOCKBUSTER WANTS TO BUY OUT HOLLYWOOD???? YES IT'S TRUE!!! THIS WOULD BE A VERY SAD DAY FOR US. I LOVE HOLLYWOOD VIDEO. I WILL NOT RENT FROM ANYOTHER VIDEO COMPANY. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A WAY THAT WE CAN STOP THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. BLOCKBUSTER IS JUST LIKE WALMART THEY WANT TO RULE THE WORLD. (I HATE BOTH OF THEM)

The prices aren't that good. I mean $5 for 5 days is a lot because i usually only want it for 1 day. Thats why i go to local video stores that let u rent 1 night for $1. Plus the Hollywood Video in my town has terrible employees that are rude discourage customers form going there.

SLIGHTLY better than Blockbuster--the employees are friendlier, the selection is a few notches better. But would someone please tell those HIGHER UPS at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video that those televisions in the stores need to be TURNED DOWN. Or off, for that matter. It is very annoying. Thank God for Netflix. The DVD rental savior.

Hollywood video is the best unlike blockbuster they have there own section of classic movies makes it easier on me to find what Marilyn movie I want.

I really like Hollywood Video. A lot better than BallBuster Video. Their customer servic is worlds better. If you have a late fee, they don't send you letters and report you to credit agencies. Game Crazy is also a superb feature of Hollywood Video. Even though Blockbuster has significantly more locations, they'd better watch out for Hollywood.

This is a great service the people there are verry friendly and one of them acctually belivied me for once that my dvd is all sceatched up when I goy it and they gave me another copy and they even checked if it was unscratched or not unlike block buster who didn't believe and made me pay more than I origanly paid for when I first goi it which for your'e infor mation was from seven to elleven dollars so go to hollywood videos they rock.

A truly great franchise store, with some AWESOME prices! Their service is great and their store layout is very intuitive. Also, all of their rentals are five days, unlike the questionable two-days-only for New Releases found at Blockbuster. Just recently, the Hollywood Video nearest to me placed all of their Nintendo 64 games on sale for 9.99 (+ their current buy-two-get-one free deal). I was able to pick from any of their rentals and got awesome games at incredible prices! Their pre-viewed DVDs are also plentiful and brilliantly-priced! Shop there! You will not be dissappointed!

i will never rent from here again. i had made a down payment on a movie that wasn't released yet to reserve one of the first copies. but when i went to pick it up, they were out and went sure they would get anymore. then they refused to give me a refund or the down payment but wanted to give a due-bill. i have yet to cash it in.

I hope they kick BBV's ass, and I would work for them any day of the week over LackLuster Video. But unlike BBV, Hollywood has low employee turn over, darn.

5 years ago I drove the extra miles to go to the big blue... But now Hollywood is clean, organized, and the staff @ my local store is so friendly.... and (YES they always know my name!) I would not consider going anywhere else..... Not to mention they now have a cool game store to buy used games. My kids love to try the new games! The past is the past....but now they have got it going on! :)

These guys suck, but it may just be my neighborhood store. They put all the DVDs and games behind the counter, so you stand in line for awhile only to finally make it to the front and be told that the DVD or game you're wanting is not in (even tho a rental box is out on the shelf). Not even .99 coupons can make me go back in there.

I used to go to Blockbuster, but the service there was always so-so at best. At Hollywood they help me no matter what my request and they even remember my name! They are pretty easy going about late fees... if I have to they let me pay it a little at a time. Blockbuster would NEVER do that.

I am a loyal customer here! They are constantly increasing their selection of DVDs, which are of course a tad more costly than VHS, but of much higher quality, in my opinion. You do not have to pay a "fee" to rent DVD's here like you do at Hasting's. (BTW, I boycott Hasting's, but I'll tell about that when it is added to the list!:))They do have a huge selection of VHS rentals, and game rentals for playstation, gamecube, X-Box, etc. Hollywood Video has a satisfaction guarantee that is absolutely unparalleled: if you are not satisfied with your rental -FOR ANY REASON AT ALL- they will exchange it for you free of charge! In other words, I can rent 40 days & 40 nights, take it home, watch it and decide it was a crappy show, then just take it back and tell one of their employees that I found the movie unsatifactory. They will let you go pick something else out and watch it free of charge!! Isn't that fantastic?! Hollywood also has the "in stock guarantee", which is awesome! They have several new releases that are labeled "guaranteed in stock", and if you find that one of such movies is all out, you simply go tell one of the employees, and he/ she will print you a raincheck for that movie rental FREE of charge on your next visit!!! What's more is that the employees are very friendly and helpful. I have nothing but positive things to say about Hollywood!
