Even if Slick Willy was still president I would support him in this war. Viewing the actions and hearing the words of Senate democrats confirms the obstructionist theory. They continue to prey on their illiterate constituants by painting pictures of doom and gloom. Their constant attacks on our commander in chief show how petty they have become. They offer no solutions to the problems of today. They have come to realize that the days of the Democrat representing the working man have long been gone. Without the unions or government dole the liberal democrat will not survive. They simply cannot compete in a more educated, hard working, promotion based on merit society. Instead, they blame others for their misfortunes and sue or seek restitution from Uncle Sam. Unfortunately, rampant as unwed motherhood, they will continue to proliferate like cockroaches. Educated americans will reduce the size of their families enabling the base of the ignorant liberal to grow, forever milking the government and business until the system is overwhelmed. Then finally, when their socialist state finally becomes a reality it will definitely take a village to raise a child or even feed your family.

If you hate Bush, nothing is going to change your mind. Reason won't change your mind, ALL of the facts (not just the ones that paint 100% failures) won't change it, compassion won't change it, understanding America's true position in the world won't change it either. Bush haters refuse to see any connection to terrorism and our efforts in Iraq. Bush haters would rather the US go crawling on our knees to the U.N. begging forgiveness. Please like us! Please! Yet it is the Bush haters that ignore the 12 UN resolutions that each gave Hussein one last chance to comply with the UN demands. Now comes the money issue. If there's 87 billion for Iraq, how come there is no money for us? How come we don't get free insurance? Americans have always picked themselves up from hardship and worked hard for what they got. Not only is it part of our culture that made us the greatest nation on earth, it is also an example to the world that freedom means not relying on government for a hand out. People living under dictators know what eventually happens when the society starts to rely on the government for survival. Our position in the world was weakened, and will continue to weaken, with every retreat. This war is not all about Iraq; it is about any potential enemy. The world must know that once provoked, we will not falter until we defeat our enemy. It is that power that keeps us free and safer. The sad news of casualties is enough reason for me at this point to continue in Iraq with vigor. A soldier killed in Iraq is senseless enough without making it meaningless as well. If you support the troops then show it. Our battle now is a battle of wills. I am sure that our enemy must think we will retreat; all they have to do is read the New York Times. It is that dissent that keeps our enemy optimistic. Dissent all you want, it is your right. Just know that the people who live here and are plotting to kill us need that dissent to keep them going. If that sounds like I am trying to suppress freedom of speech, I am not. I simply mean that protocol dictates the civilized society. If your son/daughter were in harms way now, you might consider dissent during wartime dangerous. I don't agree with Bush on much, but all of that is for another day. Until our men and women accomplish their mission and return home safe and victorious, I stand strong as an American.

Get our people out of there. We never should've been there in the first place. Set up some government that the PEOPLE want, not what we want. No more soldiers need to die, no more need to be sent.

If the very same actions were taken under a Democratic Administration, all the right-wingers would be biting at the bit like rabid dogs wanting the President impeached for gross incompetenacy. The funny thing is Bush and Cheny are now stuck doing the thing that conservatives just hate most - social engineering. We can easily throw BILLIONS and maybe TRILLIONS of dollars to develop a new IRAQ, but we can't offer Universal Heath Care to our own citizens, or pay our military personnell a decent wage so their families don't have to rely on food stamps and welfare. Oh, yes - our priorities are right on target. We have become that which we for so long spurned - an evil empire.

My opinion? Since when isnt a war an important political issue? This war is tough (duh, its war) but in the long run, we will see economic stability on both sides of the planet.

My personal feeling is we have slacked off, we need to be as alert and tough as when we first entered, I feel we need to get alot tougher maybe even eleminate most of the buildings they can be rebuilt and by doing so eleminates hiding places. Offer a MUCH bigger reward for the capture of Hussain and any of the people that do these small gorilla attacks on our people or peaceable people. I also feel that the weapons of mass distrucsion are there under their noses. Bush and Rumsfeild are making to many mistakes.

Once you make a commitment to something you don't jump ship. Although, I don't necessarily agree with the beginning of this conflict. I do believe that we need to see it through. The people of Iraq deserve at least that much from us if not more. We can not make empty promises. Our reputation of being honest is at stake here.

We can't cut and run from Iraq. If you think it's a mess right now, you can just imagine what kind of a mess there will be if we pull out without leaving a functioning government and infrastructure. Iraq might very well become another Afghanistan. As much as I think that the war was poorly planned, I still have faith that we will as least leave Iraq in better conditions than we found it. I don't agree with the concept of pre-emptive action or nation-building, but like what I've said before, this war was our baby and now we've got to take care of it. To pull out now will demonstrate to the world that we can't follow through on our actions, we will lose credibility as a world power. Of course fixing up Iraq is going to be difficult, in fact, at this point, I would argue that we are in a lose-lose situation. Most Iraqis don't want us there, that's why we've got to take care of business there and leave fast. That's the least painful solution. Paul Bremmer should have never disbanded the army or the governmental structure. Most government workers were loyal to Saddam because they had to be, a very small percentage were die-hard Ba'athists. Those are the ones we should have gone after, not the middle management. Now there is no government functioning in Iraq, it's just the United States and it's token allies directing the aftermath. U.S. policymakers have got to get off the nation building trip; it's never going to be perfect, the civilian personnel down at the Pentagon should have realized this from the beginning, it was very naive for them to think that occupation would be so easy and that they would embrace democracy and become an ally to Israel. But at any rate, the question is not about whether or not this was the wrong war or whatever, in my opinion it was, but that is beside the point. These questions should have been answered earlier; we have to consider the present situation we're in now. The question is where do we go from here? In my view, we should leave as soon as possible, maybe in about a year or so. Leave them with an army and government and just declare victory and leave. As long as they consider us occupiers they will be fighting us. What will help out the Iraqi's is to provide them with grants to give them some starting capital in getting there infrastructure back up along with a program of debt forgiveness. Saddam incurred billions in debts during his dictatorship, starting wars isn't very cheap. A peaceful Iraq will be one that isn't burden with the legacy of it's past. But continued military operations and occupation will only make the situation worse. Al-Qaeda is moving into Iraq because we're there. The foreign terrorists can be defeated with Iraqi who know exactly who's a foreigner and who's not, not the Americans. Policymakers have to realize that there are other solutions besides bulldozing down entire villages and branding people Ariel Sharon style. If we start doing this, we are going to get bogged down in that country. It's still early enough to where we can still have victory in Iraq, lets not squander it by overstaying our welcome.
