American dreams is a great show, I've learned a lot from this show. It's great to see how things were back then.

This is the greatest show on TV- I can't remember the last time I was so hooked on a show!!! I will be devastated if the show isn't back in the fall.

Great Show!! Keep it on the air!!
irishgrrle 02/04/2005
This is the best show on TV right now, it doesn't revolve around the shallowness of American and it promotes family values and American spirit! It would be a shame for the show to go off the air (especially when it is getting so good!). This is the only show that I actually watch on NBC, so without it, I can't say that I would ever have a reason to tune into NBC. Maybe the time and day slot need to be changed, but removing it entirely would be a real downfall for NBC!!!!!

This show is possibly the best family oriented show on television. It reminds up of our past and it stimulates the minds of all the youth watching it today.

Television needs more shows like American Dreams, not less. It's a quality, family drama that parents can actually watch with their kids. I recognize this, and I'm an unmarried, childless woman. This show has it all: great writing, acting, directing, and music. Please, NBC, save this show.
ithankgod4u22 02/02/2005
It is the only show I watch. I am completely faithful and committed to keeping this on. Thank you.

This is by far the best program on primetime television today. The writing is outstanding as is the acting; TV Land is bestowing its 2005 Future Classics Award to American Dreams in March. Unfortunately, the series is in danger of being cancelled. Click here to sign the petition to Save American Dreams. http://www.petitiononline.com/SaveAD/petition.html

American Dreams is the best family drama on TV. It is enjoyed by my friends and family and the topic of much discussion each week. The actors have made the characters so real and the writers have made this the most compelling program to watch season after season. It just keeps getting better. I look forward to a 4th season and many more to come. Meg Evans

As a Philly resident, I think this a FANTASTIC show. NBC is always welcome to shoot this show on location!
Tracedon 01/27/2005
This show is an excellent period show- it doesn't matter that they change some of the historical references, music, etc. to fit the storyline. It is about a family and their friends, trying to do the best they can, stand up for what they believe in and learn to deal with the world changing around them. I love how the show parallels many of the themes families deal with today, and have dealt with in the past. Most people can identify with at least one of the characters on the series. It's an excellent family show and wonderful change from the tired reality show fad that won't seem to end.

another junk show crystalizing the 1960's. why do we need this? isn't it bad enough you boomers are probably going to live to see 100, and will have sucked all the Social Security money by then. Will i have to hear about the Beatles and Vietnam when i'm 80, too? China Beach, the Wonder Years, and now this tripe. leave it to Dick Clark. I think he was given a stroke for a reason, as a lesson to not make crap like American Dreams. i'll give the show one thing, that teenage blonde. she's hot. is she 18 yet?
flsoutherngirl 01/27/2005
My faverite show. It's really great.
Chuck the Writer 01/27/2005
This show is nothing more than Dawson's Creek in period costumes, a VH1 music video stretched out to 60 minutes. The show's writers have no concept of what the 60's were really about; they throw in pop culture references that either don't match the timeline or never really existed, if for no other reason than to allow the stars to interact with such plotlines. The characters are also too politically correct - acting more like they came from 2005 rather than 1966. They've had several dozen musicians and singers and actors come in and pretend to be singers from the 1960's, but you never hear more than a few seconds of each performance because Meg and Roxanne are chatting like mynah birds in the Bandstand bleachers. Artists are performing songs that are months - and sometimes years - away from actually being written. They've moved historical events (the East Coast Blackout, James Meredith's march) up or down a few months so that it can coincide with important moments in the show's plotlines. American Dreams has the potential to be so much better - but I feel that potential was lost.

This show is one of the best on television today and one of my favorites. I wasnt born in the 60's but my parents were young in the 60's. This show teaches me about the culture, music, and politics of the 1960's. This show is great,I can say that I have learned a lot from this show. It's so interesting to see what life what like in the 60's. The best show on NBC.

The best show on television. This show is not just for the up and coming senior citizens. Younger people like me love it for the history, the music, the drama, the hot actors (Jamie Elman, Will Estes, and Arlen Escarpeta). This show brings the old a young together and shows that through the generations all people go through trying times and share the same emotions. What a wonderful tool to help the young and old connect with each other!!

Why? God, WHY???!!!!! It's already gone to far beyond it's original concept should have let it. Cancel it, cancel it, cancel it!!!
BadSantahohoho 01/01/2005
the show would get a three alone for the music. This show portrays the lifestyle of people of all ages during the 1960's. While some people may think of it as showing the time period to innocently, the show is actually bringing across just how sheltered the public was back then and how no one talked about major issues like we do today. This show is a treat for the whole family.

This is one of the best programs on television. Being the parents of two toddlers, time together is precious for my wife and I. Sunday nights at 8pm is a special time for us. There are several aspects of the program I enjoy. I am pleased to see the dedication to project an accurate historical perspective. I also believe that quality family programming is rare these days and this program gives us just that. The Pryors might not be perfect, but what family truly is. They have solid family values and I wish that we all could return to that. Kudos to NBC for having the insight and courage to step outside of the current box.

The finest show on TV the last 3 years. Great music, fine story and a great review of the 1960's! Sweet! I grew up during this time and love the trip back.
getnred 11/22/2004
This has to be one of the most boring shows on television. What a snore.
Stan Miller 10/25/2004
I think American Dreams successfully walks a delicate line between some difficult issues many of us faced in the 60's. With a nation divided by the Iraq war, the timing of American Dreams and it's message, is erie. This is one of the few telivision shows that helps us, as Americans, reflect on who we were, who we are and what we are becoming, and at the same time, entertain us. Stan

This show is what TV is about; a show which the whole family can enjoy. A much-needed alternative to the lawyer, forensic, medical dramas that have become all too abundant nowadays. The acting, writing, and characterization all are superb!
Donovan 10/05/2004
One of my favorite shows on TV. I love the acting and the show brings back a lot of memories from the 60's, some good and some bad. A show based on history that so many of us older 40+ type people can relate to. I hope the show can stand the test of the critics who tend to remove the good ones.
jodphil2003 09/27/2004
this is one of the most though provoking shows on Tv. interesting comentary, and a great historical snap shot.

We love the show and think characters are great. We are anxious for it to start back up.
DennyO 06/12/2004
I always look forward to the show. Just two things would make it a bit more realistic and interesting: 1) The Catholic priests portrayed are all severe, dictatorial people, but even in the 60's they were a mixed lot, some severe, some very outgoing and friendly. Same thing with the nuns. And, by the way, even back then it was a minority of priests who smoked. And a pastor, then or now, would have had no time to be a staff football coach for the high school, that is for sure. 2) Jack Pryor seems to be in a perpetual state of bossiness. He comes across as too one-dimensional, but I do notice this season he is getting a bit more personality.

American Dreams has not been on in three weeks!! What has happened to it? I so look forward to it every Sunday night. I'm really missing it. Thanks for your help.

I really like this show. I don't watch it all the time, but I catch an episode here and there. The season finale should prove to be good, but I hope they don't kill off J.J, because he's my favorite.
dreamer26 03/21/2004
We watch this show every week and hold our breath. The characters are very real and it reminds us of what it was like when growing up and the impact that all of the events of the time had on us. I share this program with my children and grandchildren. It's been a long time since we have all enjoyed the same show.

This is the best truly family show since the Waltons. With both shows the viewers are taken very skillfully to a much different time with a much different mentality. American Dreams is an extremely ambitious show, tackling numerous cultural issues and pulls such a difficult task off beautifully. The ensemble cast is wonderful and the attention to detail is good (except for an occasional inacurracy concerning song timing and event overlap which are only bothersome to the anal amongst us) I'm happy to see it renewed for a third season and hope that soon it achieves the huge audience it deserves.

Except for a few anachronisms, this show rates highly on the five-star scale.
