Jenny was real, but 867-5309 was actually her parent's number. When he asked her for her number, this is what she gave him because she was still living with them. He assumed that she had her own line, but he was wrong.

This is probably one of the more memorable tunes of the early 80's. What I find really cool about it is that I heard Tommy Tutone were sued by the person whose real phone number is 867-5309. People were always calling him up and asking for Jenny and laughing. That's funny.

Definitely one of the best Top 40 hits of the 80s. I don't know what happened to Tommy Tutone, but he should have made more records. The guitar in this song is very catchy, and everybody knows who Tommy Tutone is talking about. He got her number on the wall.

You have to admit that this song is a true classic. EVERYONE knows what you are talking about when you say 867-5309. It has transcended generations. Remarkable!
