I am on ativan four times a day now for my panic attacks and it has helped with them tremendously, I can now go out of the house and not worry about having an attack. It is't 100% but just about.

I had terrible nausea with vomiting during my first round of chemotherapy. After informing the doctors that the anti-nausea medication I had been using did not seem to help me out,  I was prescribed ativan for my nausea. When I went to pick up my prescriptions from the pharmacy, the pharmacist said, "Lorazepam...for anxiety." I looked at my wife with a strange look, and told him "I don't have a problem with anxiety." He realized what kind of patient I was after that and explained that in addition to being prescribed for those suffering with anxiety, ativan (lorazepam) is also used with chemo patients for nausea. It has worked great for my nausea, and I've heard other cancer patients swear by it as a sleep aid as well. It seems to be a very effective drug for a lot of different reasons. No side effects or dependence to report from me.

I normally avoid any and all prescription drugs that mess with my head, but ativan is the exception. It's really the best for any kind of manias or anxiety episodes which a person may occasionally have to deal with. I see it as having three huge advantages: It's the only drug in its class that is not addictive; it's generic so the cost is very low; and it works by dissolving instantly in your mouth rather than working through the digestive system. The only problem is that the goddamned DEA puts ativan in the same regulatory class as much harder drugs, because it's taken when you feel like you need it, rather than on a regular daily basis, so the feds feel that there is a potential for abuse. That's definitely untrue in my experience. N.B. Not only taken by injection, as the description says, but much more commonly in tablet form.
