I've written a lot in other posts about the specifics of where George W. Bush has failed us - irresponsible spending, suspect decision-making, disregard for federalism and the rule of law, religion over science, absence of diplomatic skills leading to polarization domestically and isolation internationally, etc. But I'm not going to talk about that stuff again here. My dislike of Bush cuts deeper than just policy disagreements (I certainly have plenty of those with his challenger as well). Simply put, I don't think Bush is worthy to be President of our wonderful country. Any man who would appoint energy industry lobbyists as stewards of our environment is not treating his responsibilities in good faith. Anyone who would orchestrate locking out the opposing political party during key legislative decisions just doesn't share my view of what democracy means. Someone who puts our soldiers at risk by having his lawyers craft reasons why torture is OK, refuses to discipline his people for Abu Grahib, and dares insurgents to bring it on, is not someone I want responsible for the safety of our soldiers. George W. Bush has demonstrated a consistent history of sloppy leadership, suspect scruples, and poor judgment. It hurts me to say this, but I'm not proud of the direction my country is heading. Just because we're the richest nation with the most powerful army doesn't mean we should trample on the rest of the world - not because it's mean, but because it's not prudent. If history has taught us anything, the bully always gets theirs - it's only a matter of time. I'm not sure if John Kerry is the answer - but he is at least smarter and more measured in his thinking than the President. I want a President that I can be proud of. I want an administration where I know who the real boss is. I want to be proud of how my country acts in its role in the global community. I want us to be the defenders of the rule of law around the world, not the defiers. I want us to hold ourselves to a higher standard than the barbaric, crusading terrorists. In my eyes, this President has led us away from these ideals. Time for a change.

I agree with JRF29201, Kerry is scary. Bush isnt afraid to fight for what he believes in even though he knows everyone isnt going to be happy about it. Kerry tries to keep everybody happy but in the process makes more people mad. He needs to get his story STRAIGHT. To G.W. morals are important, and I believe that America SHOULD NOT lose sight of those morals that this country was founded on. Kerry is just a feel-good politician whose views do not apply to today because he has no idea how to put them to action.
TriSec 10/21/2004
Please. Bush is a bumbling idiot that isn't even the President. (Cheney is). This mentally-challenged, brain-dead, moron should be sent back to Texas, pronto.
JRF29201 10/21/2004
With Kerry as the other choice GWB immediately gets five stars. Kerry is Scary.

Although possessing the morals of a reptile, Nixon was a highly intelligent and independent GOP leader. Watergate had folks talking about the imminent demise of the GOP, and into this vacuum came the fundamentalist conservatives. They didn't have the juice to put their boy Reagan over Ford in 1976, but because Ford lost to Carter they came back with Reagan in 1980. Even that wasn't a slam dunk. Bush lead early, and was the clear favorite but the Conservatives had made too many inroads and Bush's sensible talk of Reagan's voodoo economics had to be recanted when he agreed to be Dutch's running mate. Since the time of Reagan the GOP has not allowed an intelligent, independent candidate (John McCain comes to mind) near the nomination. Dim bulbs that fit the suit appear to be getting the job done, and on each version they have improved the model. Dubya has been greased all the way from childhood. If his father was born on 3B and thought he hit a triple, Dubya was born at home plate and thought he hit a grand slam. I don't hate Dubya. I pity him. He is not really president, just a mediorce guy playing a role over his head. But I admire how he has played that role, his backers are smart folks, shameless spin doctors, and they play to the lowest common denominator (LCD). No surprize then we get an LCD for president. The next GOP candidate will be more of same. The Dems might give up and stoop to run their LCD. Why change a winning strategy?

Good thing I'm not an american and don't have to carry the responsibility for putting such a mumbling moron as commander in chief of the most powerful nation... Still the idea of a second term in office creeps me out. Guess the world will have to deal with that for four more years, since Kerry may be good, but not as good as to take americans out of the trance. Wake up americans, and stop following that war-mongering idiot all the way down to chaos

I am a strong GW supporter despite all of the stigma has been recieving lately, and I'll tell you why. He holds to the old fasioned moral values that used to be so engrained in our culture, and these beliefs have recently made him a pariah. Despite the persecution, he does not change his stance like his competitor, he holds fast to what he believes is right. Freedom means something to this man, my friends. When you think of the casualties of our war in Iraq opposite what has been accomplished, and compare it to previous wars, it is a remarkable achievement. John Kerry obviously subscribes to the feel-good policies of thirty years ago. He plans to get elected on the ticket that if you're a democrat you HAVE to vote for him, and then he'll use the Executive office to push his agendas, placing America on unstable and uneven moral ground. We are a nation at war, a justified war, and we need a strong leader capable of making decisions in the best interest of freedom and justice. Kerry is not that man, for he would present a weak face to our enemies, something we can not condone in these troubled times. God bless Bush and America in this upcoming election.

worst president we ever had
GypsyRoseLeigh 09/20/2004
Bush comes off as both arrogant and ignorant - a lethal combination. I can't believe that someone of such low intellect and poor speaking ability could possibly spend a second term in the White House. Also, doesn't it leave a bad taste in your mouth that our President (and his henchmen) would bash the military record of a man who has been publicly recognized and awarded for his service in the Viet Nam war? Seems damned unpatriotic to me. Shameful in light of his, Cheney's, etc. lack of service during the war. Also, I bet they settled on the nickname flip-flop for Kerry because it was one of the few names Bush could remember without stumbling over it each and every time he said it. He probably practiced saying it in the mirror a few hundred times before going public with it.
WarGamefan93 09/15/2004
Zech is right. Bush should get re-elected and Moore should be in exile.

Re-election!
Redoedo 09/06/2004
I think Bush is well-poised to win re-election. There are just too many questions voters have about Kerry that are going unanswered, and the Republican smear machine is doing an effective job of painting Kerry as a typical Massachusetts liberal. Coming out of the Republican convention, Bush is in a good position to move in and take the election. If he can outshow Kerry in the debates, he'll win comfortably.
OneHungryMonst er 08/29/2004
Not the worst President ever, but if he did have the luxury of coming in during a good time. It's amazing how he's let Clinton's good times get screwed up so bad. Bush, not Kerry, is the real flip-flopper. He says he stands for education, but then he cuts education programs in his budget. He says he stands for affordable health care, then creates a program that will encourage drug companies to raise prices. He says he wants to fight against terrorism, but he cuts spend on first responders (firemen) and takes troops out of Afghanistan before bin Laden is found. He says he's for new jobs, but then he sits there and does nothing when he sees unemployment go through the roof. I'm not one of those idiots who will tell you Bush caused the recession. But I will tell you that this is the first recession in recorded history that unemployment hadn't completely recovered within 31 starts of the start of the recession. It's now been over three years, and we're still almost a percent and a half away from where unemployment was before the recession. The recovery? What recovery? And btw: I don't hate Bush because he's a Republican, or because he's not a Democrat. If Bush was a Democrat, and Kerry a Republican, I would STILL be supporting Kerry in this election.
Dr Weird 08/08/2004
Nixon and Reagan are dead. Once Bush Jr. is out of the picture, the Trifecta of Evil will be over. Assuming, of course, that his bumbling doesn't kill us all. It's a shame the Democrats don't have any real candidates to run against him.

A truly evil man. Arrogant, dishonest, cowardly, cruel, vindictive, and totally unconcerned with the deaths he's needlessly caused. I didn't think he could be much worse than Bill Clinton; guess I was wrong on that. Whatever happened to the decent Republicans like Bob Dole, McCain, or Alexander? They all seem to be in lock step behind him. Then again most of the Democrats did the same with Clinton.

How interesting that the one club all the libs use to try bash Bush is his supposed stupidity. I wonder if any of them have ever considered what it takes to not only get into Harvard Business school, but to leave it successfully with a Harvard MBA. I wonder if any of them have ever considered what it takes to pilot an F-102 or if they've ever considered how many young men and women would love the opportunity to pilot them and yet how few are even qualified to apply or train. Somehow I doubt they've allowed themselves to think beyond the lib rhetoric to consider any of it.
Because I Say So 07/26/2004
George Bush and by association America have become the embarassment of the world in the past four years. He wanted Iraq and Saddam Long before he became presidnt. The only reason he got permission to invade anyway is his adament and constant statement of He has WMD's. The only weapon that was found the hand gun they found in Saddams hole in the ground. This is a war brought on and fuled by money. Its a shame that so many Americans think this guys $hit dont stink
barswanian 07/23/2004
I can't vote for a man who heads the cabinet that had planned on attacking Iraq since 1998 and wants to use the internet as a weapon of war.
superpolitical 07/22/2004
In order to be a leader you have to know something about that which you lead. Bush is weak and insignificant. I wish I could blame him for destroying the economy, but we all know he hasn't made any decisions on his own and its his administration which should be blamed.
charles o 07/21/2004
Bush in my opinion is one of the greatest leaders America has had in the last two decades or so. Why?.. he has shown the world that peoples dignities, rights and freedoms should overide any religious biases by tackling terrorism head on. Bravo Mr president and i trust history will judge you positively for the brave stand you have taken on terrrorism. Fight the good fight to the end and i trust the Americans will give you another mandate to protect them. Your fight on terror has not derailed your focus from the economy as shown by Fed c,man recent report. Your election is assured. Charles O

Bush has shown himself to be humble, though not timid or too meek to lead. He has made mistakes, and sometimes his strong-willed nature crosses the line into stubborness. But I have my flaws, too. He is putting a sincere effort into his job, and takes his responsibilities seriously. I remember when 9/11 first happened, the media was calling for him to strike immediately, and were infuriated when he said he needed to wait to gather more intelligence. And now everyone says he rushed into it. How odd. In comparison to Kerry, especially, I would like to see Bush win the 2004 election. I'm afraid that once Kerry enters the White House, we really won't know exactly what to expect from him. He hasn't made any solid promises or stood on a specific platform for anything...the only thing that he seems to focus on is anti-Bush. Well, if Kerry is voted President and Bush is gone...what will there be left to focus on? Will he be able to focus on anything? Bush won't be around to bash anymore. Bush loves this country and he loves Americans. I would love to see him reelected.
buggadeeboo 07/09/2004
Fahrenheit 9/11...watch it. In fact read every paper, search the net, speak to all kinds. Don't just settle for what pops on your tv as news. Nothing is ever really black or white, there is always more to the story. With Bush, there is much, much, more than meets the mainstreem.
eraser1997 07/07/2004
As someone who would typically vote a moderate-to-right stance on most issues, with a leftish stand on a few, most people would expect me to vote for Bush. However, on too many issues he has shown a complete disregard for his own stated stance on issues. What has he done to curb abortion? Why does he insist on letting the deficit balloon to $630 billion this year ALONE? And personally, I'm tired of his promotion of dooh nibor economics. I have no reason to believe he will make any attempt to address any issues I agree with his stated position on. Easily one of the worst presidents we've had in recent times. I'm almost having to consider Carter a better president at this point. Well, at least Carter is infinitely more likeable, even if he wasn't a good president

Kerry04- please give it a rest, how many times are you going to resend this message???? and I don't want to look at your websites.

I wouldn't even give him one star, but I had to put something to add my thoughts here. Just so YOU'RE aware as you read this. Bill Mahr said it best, 'Bush reminds me of the kid in high school who had the brand new red corvette that his daddy bought for him, but he walked around school with an attitude like he had somehow earned it'. That's the same attitude that Bush has in the White House. He didn't earn it, and the American people are going to make sure he doesn't win this election. If, for argument's sake, he does win this election, there well be riots and protests all over the U.S. as well as the rest of the world. Vote Kerry! And to the haters...bring on the negative email, I can't wait.

Let me address the famed Weapons of Mass Destruction first!! If you had 1,000 lbs. of coke in your house and the F.B.I. told you 30 days in advance they were coming to do a search, would you keep it at your house??? The WMD's are in Syria folks!! They have already found mustard gas canisters more things will turn up. As for Mr. Bush, his economic policy is much better, his support of the military is much stronger and he has vision. Mr. Kerry does more flip-flops than a cheerleading squad.
Shillelagh 06/16/2004
G W Bush is the poster child for what is wrong with our system of election by popularity poll, cuteness and money. He is a self-serving, greedy liar. The biggest problem is not that he is stupid (although he is) but that he has no conscience. I only hope that before he dies some of the weeping parents and armless children of Iraq are able to make their way into his dreams. It would be a good thing for all of us, including him.

While he's no Reagan, I do admire his convictions and stand on the important issues. He'll stand up to the terrorists (Clinton ignored them, hoping they'd go away), his tax cuts have super-charged the economy and hopefully he'll be able to make some appointments to the Supreme Court.
Mr Happy 05/16/2004
WMD proved false and he lied about the 9/11 Iraqi links aswell as admitting it. You can't lie about war. It's unfair on the American people, and obviously the Iraqi people.

A: tax cuts (I though it was to benifit only the rich? Then why did I get one?), fighting terrorism, ability to be a true leader by not following polling data, will not hand over our sovereignty to outside interest (UN)!! F: Medicare bill was poorly packaged, need to better secure boarders, a big spender for a conservative

The WORST president in our history. Not very bright (ok - stupid), a liar, misleads & manipulates the public, has shown gross incompetence in fighting terrorism & in Iraq & Afghanistan, incapable of unbiased, analylitical thought, surrounds himself with devious meglomaniacs, is totally self absorbed, secretive, & seems determined to undo all of the social & economic gains we have made in the last 50 years.
