A Clockwork Orange 1

What a waste of time! I don't know what was more frustrating, a ridiculous plot that made little sense and seemed to go nowhere tortuously slow, the difficult-to-understand cockney accents, or the retarded cinematography. Yikes!, this movie SUCKS! There is a scene in the movie where a woman is bludgeoned with a large ceramic statue of a penis, and at the end, I felt as if I'd been similarly beat. I would bet that Stanley Kubrick probably smoked a phallic shaped crack vile for the inspiration to make this movie...pure rubbish.

A Clockwork Orange 4

A clever nihilistic horrorshow.

Nothin' like a bit of the old ultra-violence.

Not an easy watch, unless you're a total sociopath.

A Clockwork Orange 4

Disturbing, discomforting 1971 fare from the master that is Kubrick. As opposed to other violent gems such as pulp fiction or resevoir dogs, A Clockwork Orange focuses a far greater deal of attention upon ideology within society towards the treatment of prisoners and the mentality behind violence as opposed to frequent irony. Not that there aren't dollops of cliche served up here (a woman having her head smashed in with a giant phallis one of the more overt symbols in cinematic deaths), just that the ironic wit in this movie is tinged with the bad aftertaste of incidental rape and abuse. The message for me is that society is the evil in this film because its actions are conscious and sane (as opposed to McDowwell's lead - who is clearly insane). It is the society that employs the brainwashing imagery and society that hires thugs as beating policemen. It was hard for me to gain sympathy for the lead but even harder for me to sympathise with any of treatment society gave to him because society did it sanely - in full awareness of its misdeeds.

Absolute filthy cest pit of a movie. I found nothing entertaining about watching a rape scene - this is what mad me turn my TV OFF!!! When you look at Stanley Kubrick and the type of Director he is A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut are garbage and a total disgrace to this man's profession when you look at his other credits.

A Clockwork Orange 3

i used to dig this, but then i met a few women who were raped, and one of the guys who did it was a HUGE clockwork fan. he used to call his pals, droogies. now i just dont feel the same when i watch it, even though i understand that humans are inherently stupid and someone can make something violent from Sesame Street. still....i don't know. i enjoy the book better. the last chapter puts things in more perspective than Kubrick's smear job ever could.

A Clockwork Orange 4

Directed by Stanley Kubrick, A Clockwork Orange (1971) is a dark and violent look at the future, at the time the late 1970's and early 80's. The plot revolves around Alex (Malcolm McDowell) who loves classical music and leads a band of sadistic young men. Alex eventually gets caught during his escapades involving rape and murder, and the government rehabilitates Alex in a violent manner, resulting in him being a victim of the same society he once terrorized. The viewer can easily spot Kubrick's imprint on this film, which is vastly different than his preceding movie 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Nevertheless, the violence is probably tame by contemporary standards, notwithstanding the X-Rating the film received in the U.S. The bottom line is that A Clockwork Orange is one of the best films in its genre; however, it isn't truly a cult film when compared to some of the others on this list.

Yes, It's disturbing, but there are people out there like Alex who do have a sadistic pleasure of beating, killing, and preying on the weak. We've all seen the Alex-types before.

Another of my favorite movies of all time. Alex is a wayward adolescent and not very nice, we learn, but we learn later that the government is even worse. The layered ironies of his rehabilitation are lost on 98% of the audience.
