Five stars for the old Erector sets, the ones from the 60s or earlier. When I was little we found my dad's old Erector set, and it was great. That spring motor they put in those things could really go. My little brother eventually got a newer set, and it was pretty junky. The panels were no longer made of metal, just flimsy plastic, and instead of the old wind up motor, it had a crappy electric motor which could only move your creation if it was going down hill.

Scoreboard for an incredible listing. . .erector sets were the best tactile toys ever- encouraged thinking and building. . .always fun and never got old until you lost smaller parts. . .

Now you know what they call Viagra.

I remember getting an erector set for Christmas and never touching it. I'm not mechanically inclined to this day.
