06/05/2008 | I have recently fallen in love with modern dance. I didn't take a modern class until college, where I took some basic credit classes in jazz and modern, and then took a more advanced class with the same teacher in the evenings. The different movements of this style and the way I could express myself, without having to do 10-foot high leaps, splits or turns, was really eye-opening and life-changing for me. I realized that I could truly dance for myself, and be great, and not have to worry about the tricks or getting high marks at competitions.

03/04/2003 | The beauty of modern dance is its intellect and diversity. Innovators such as Isadora Duncan and Alvin Ailey introduced the world to shocking new ideas with their dancing, their choreography, their philosophies. While ballet is breathtakingly beautiful, modern is the dance artform most centered in the mind.
