ItemImageFrom Wikipedia: "Tap dance was developed in the United States during the nineteenth century, and is popular nowadays in many parts of the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician (and thus, for example, the American composer Morton Gould was able to compose a "concerto for tap dancer and orchestra")."

Verrrrry difficult especially when done in a group. It's hard to stay in sync with a group of people. Tap dancing looks easy but there is NOTHING easy about it.

This type of dancing is very classy, artistic, and fascinating to watch. If I was a dancer, this would be the kind I'd like to do. Unfortunately, I'm plagued with "Two-Left-Feet Syndrome", that is, dancing isn't my talent.

Tap is my favorite type of dance, hands down. I've been tapping since I was 2, but haven't done much in the past few years since college, and I definitely miss it a lot. To me, I love many types of dance, but tap is the most expressive, rhythmic and just plain fun. Unfortunately it seems like a dying artform. I was very happy to see 2 tap dancers make it to the next round on this season's So You Think You Can Dance. I'm really hoping one makes it to the top 20 this year - fingers crossed!

A great form of dance, yet it seems not to have such transcendence as one would have thought a couple of decades ago. I hope it doesn't die.

I love to watch talented dancers tap dance. I cannot dance at all so seeing another person who has accomplished this type of dance is a treat.Sure is it a noisier dance, but I love tuning into old MGM musicals and seeing Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Elenore Powell,Ann Miller,Ginger Rogers, and all those wonderful broadway dancers tap dance away. I end up thinking I wish I could dance like that.
