Malcom X 3

While I do find Little overrated, he was executed by the Nation of Islam (a cult) before he could fully realize his mission and ultimate impact. . .none of his blustering prophecies came true, but one cannot deny his charisma and presence. . .

What did Malcolm, the tenth, really do for the cause of civil rights?

He started out as a radical black supremacist of dubious virtue, but became a great man after performing his pilgrimage to Mecca, where he saw brother muslims of all shades and cultures, blond and blue-eyed as well as Asian and African, all kneeling in submission to God. He realised that black people did not need to exclude every other race in order to achieve their goals, but could work together for the greater good of everybody. Unfortunately, there were still some black radicals who objected to his new-found universalism and shot him down in the streets. Who knows what impact he would have made had he lived, but I believe it would have been much more helpful and uniting than harmful and divisive.

although it has been said he mellowed in the last few years of his life, the whole nation of islam, white devil, black militant nonsense prevented many americans from supporting what may have been a just cause.

Malcom X 3

A confused and confusing man during confusing times. His faith (Islam) eventually brought him to the conclusion that all men are brothers under the skin. Unfortunately he was brought down just as his political thinking was starting to evolve. He might have been a great man. Who knows? One certainly can't deny his dedication and his impact.

This man was a joke. He treated his wife like dirt and was a racist himself. He was racist against anyone who wasn't black. Racism, in all forms, is evil.
