Over rated. I don't think German food is even that good. The only German food I like are pretzels.

As a vegetarian, I'm rating this the worst because it's nothing but meat. When I was younger, I had some bad experiences at a German restaurant (almost threw up), which has completely turned me off to it even if I weren't a vegan.

At its best, very good to excellent, if a little heavy. At its worst, rather more than leaden.

When I was a kid I guess I would have thought German food was American, because thats what my mother made. I love roasts, dumplings, sauerkraut, bratwursts etc. Plus excellent breads, cheese, dairy products etc.Nothing fancy, just hearty home cooking

Herforagendes Essen! Zum Beispiel: Sauerkraut mit Elzasser! WeiBwurstchen zum Fruhstuck mit SuBe senf und Brezel! KloB mit Steinpilzen SoBe! Kuerbis Suppe! You are an ignoramus if you only know Sauerkraut mit Bradwurst! Germany is host to a legion of wonderful recipes, a 5 star cuisine for a 5 sterne land! Deutschland Ich liebe Dich!

Average cuisine. No way I could eat it very often, though.

AUSGEZEICHNET!!!! German food is some of the tastiest, stick-to-the-ribs Essen I've ever eaten. Kartoffeln, rotkohl, bratwurst, Schwarzwaldtorte, Schwarzbrot mit Butter...mmmm...Pommes Fritz....Halte! Alles schmeckt so gut! And then, of course, lots of beer to wash it all down with.German food may not be pretty, but it's filling and it's starchy and it's practical. Not unlike the German character.

German means quality - whether it is bratwurst and shnitzel or their coffee and ice cream - you know when you eat German food you will always feel great afterwords (not to mention it can be highly tastey)

With so many German names on both sides of my family, a lot of these dishes – or reasonable facsimiles - have been part of my family for generations. I enjoy the food because I tend to like the kind of sweet/sour combination you find so often in dishes like the hot potato salad. Overall, the food is very hearty, probably a bit too starchy, but tastes wonderful! Excellent, very rich deserts too.
