Over all a good movie. Each teenager in the film represented one of the cliques in high school, jock, prep, geek, etc... I like the way the film brought out each character, making you see why they did what they did, why there were the way they were. It had parts that made me cry and parts that made me laugh.

This is one of the best movies ever, and definitely the best teen movie ever, because it didn't show teenagers as drunk party animals, it dealt with real issues that teens go through, but it was still really funny.

Theres a lot more to this movie than just a group of teenagers being locked up on a Saturday at school for detention. The punishment only serves as a backdrop for what this film is truly about. In The Breakfast Club we see five high school students from different social backgrounds forced to spend time together. Through this punishment the geek(Anthony Michael-Hall), the criminal(Judd Nelson), the jock(Emilio Estevez), the high school princess(Molly Ringwald) and the recluse (Ally Sheedy) disuss their fears, stereotypes, peer pressure and gain a valuable understanding of their lives and each other and at the end of it all become better people. They went into their detention as vile and arrogant teenagers and came out as somewhat wiser adults.

oh my gosh think about it

This movie was as about as much fun as having detention on a weekend. It just goes on and on and really who cares they are bunch of brats that deserved to be locked up. A lot of people go on about how great this movie is and I don't understand that. One of the most over rated movies of all time.

This movie is definately in my top 5 greatest movies of all time. The whole cast was brilliant, and the movie was so believable. You laugh, you cry, and you just leave the movie feeling like you saw something worthwhile. I would definately recommend this coming of age movie to everyone. As always, John Hughes scores again ! A wonderful director with so much talent.

I've only seen this film once and that was on the eve of my 21st birthday on a large projector screen round my mates down in Brighton. I'd known about the film for a really long time and my friends were shocked when I said that I hadn't watched it - so we did. I thought the storyline was really good and relevant. The casting was good as well. I found this film very interesting as it is true to life and it was sooo funny as well! It was good to watch an 80's film as well - I find that the teenage ones from that decade are more innocent and honest than the ones that you get today. They don't try to be sophisticated, they are wht they are.

At the time it came out, I was a senior in high school. This was the only movie, other than Fast Times at Ridgemont High, that we felt was telling the truth. In retrospect, I think it is a bit stereotyped, but it still sends a powerful message about what things were like for people my age with parents that were clueless. The world changed and those that had younger parents didn't have any many problems with the changes, but if you had older parents in the early-mid 80's, it was very difficult to deal with the generation gap. They missed the sexual revolution and had no comprehension of the types of things that their children were facing in high school.

This is really a good movie. I'm usually not that big on movies that aren't funny, but this really is entertaining. I'm glad TBS shows it all the time!

Another 1980s classic. I must have seen it 1000 times, but I just never get tired of it. It had all of the major high school categories; Brian the geek, Andrew the jock, Alison the freak, Claire the princess, and John the slacker. It showed how appearances could deceive, and that not everyone has it that bad. And of course, Molly Ringwald is perfect in her roll.

Powerfulpinky got it right. This movie is timeless. If it's shown to teenagers 100 years from now, they will probably identify with the same type of conflicts and problems. It's an excellent movie, with strong characters and a good storyline that flows well, even though the setting is basically the same throughout the whole film. I really enjoyed this movie, but found it just a bit unrealistic how at the end, completely opposite characters got attracted to each other in such a way.

This movie is a classic. And that's not just because it's a John Hughes' film. It is a very well done movie, with a great story and great acting. It is timeless and I think it is much better than many of the teenage films out today.
