This was such an unusual format for a detective show. We knew right off who the killer was. So the fun part was trying to figure out how Columbo would trip him up and catch him. Peter Falk was exceptional in the role of the disheveled detective who often appeared to be obtuse but was really quite clever and tricky. Lots of great guest stars grace the episodes (Ruth Gordon for example).

When NBC Sunday Mystery Movie came on (remember the neat whistley theme song with the dude in the trenchcoat walking towards you and shining the flashlight). Columbo rotated with McCloud (didn't like), McMillan & Wife (Okay), and Hec Ramsey (nah!!). By far, Columbo was must see. When Columbo would say, Just one more thing., you knew murderer dude was gonna fry. Intelligent and offbeat. Where else can you see Eddie Albert play a Navy Captain who murdered a dude to cover-up their gay affair. Still my favorite TV Cop.

One of the more amusing detectives, Columbo always had his overcoat, his old car and his dog standing by. Oh, and one more thing... :)

Give me a break. This boob couldn't detect holes in swiss cheese.
