I hated the Cowboys and thought the media fawned over more than a few of the players- but Roger was cool under fire and a great competitor. I liked the way he played the game. Roger came up big in more than a few big games. Not a Montana, Graham, or Favre- but sometimes this guy gets a little overlooked. . .

A legend, he was brilliant and could do much amazing things, like Tony Romo of today.

not a big quarterback by todays standards and not very fast. he was tough and gritty and smart. he always found a way to win the game. even in the final minutes the dallas cowboys with staubach at the helm were a threat. he is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL

I can't think of a single negative to say about this extraordinary athlete. He simply had everything that you could ask of a quarterback including the ability to take Coach Landry's conservative and robotic offense and make it into a wonderland of possibilities. "Roger the Dodger" was an unpredictable combination of feet, arm, eyes, and mind. There was no defensive set that could contain him, no way to read his mind, and no posibility of shaking his confidence nor the confidence that his team had in him. He gave Tom Landry fits but there is no one that the coach would rather go to battle with than Roger Staubach. I'm certain that every teammate he ever had on the Dallas Cowboys felt exactly the same way.

Captain Comeback was a great quarterback for many years with the Cowboys. Possibly their greatest quarterback of all time.

A TRUE LEADER

Quality Athlete, Quality Leader, Quality MAN. He had all the tools including the confidence to win when they weren't the best team on the field. He had the intangible that seperates the greats for the remarkably talented.

NOBODY was better in the 2 minute drill than The Dodger

Next to Unitas the best QB of the past 40 years period if i had less than 2 minutes to win a ballgame and the ball was on the my 15 yard line I would want the ball in the hands of Staubach he was not the most gifted QB and he did not call his own plays (landry did) but he made his teamates believe they were in every game and could win (they should have beaten the Steelers in 79 if Jackie Smith had not dropped the ball in the end zone coming back from 18 down in the fourth quarter.

Admittedly, my all-time favorite football player. He was the complete package as a QB. A shotgun arm, great scrambler, and kick started the two-minute offense as a QB. Many dramatic come from behind victories as a QB including the infamous Hail Mary pass to Drew Pearson to cap a thrilling come from behind playoff victory against the Vikings in '75. On top of all this, he was great person and had, still has, impeccable character.

Changed the passing game with the shotgun formation.

A great all-round player. Led the Cowboys to four Super Bowl appearances in a span of seven seasons (won two). Great scrambler (Roger the Dodger), many come from behind victories (made two-minute offense a fashionable sports term), and a great leader. Left the game while still a very productive player.

Roger was truly great.
