I assume we're talking real brains here, not the grad-grind, citizen-of the-year-types who frequently can't think their way out of a cardboard box, unless the textbook tells them how. Truly smart kids were and are rare, they cross the spectrum of all other types, and they are the most interesting kids there.

If you got dealt the aces, you get to play the hand. Those who are only good at athletics might be full of boast and bombast, but their glory is ephemeral. You have your aces, and all of life in front of you.

Yeah, well, I was a nerd, so what? I knew some overachievers who were snobs, and I knew some who were sweet. You can't really judge a person based on what group they're in.
