Another friggin' hilarious movie with Stephen Root as Milton: "And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire..."

Darkly funny it spoofs all the right aspects of working in the modern office era. Great bunch of characters. Gary Coles is especially good as the insipent boss we all love to hate.
GenghisTheHun 03/18/2008
This is perverted enough to tickle my funny bone and I gotta give it a fiver.
CzechMate 03/17/2008
Perhaps the best office/work comedy every made!

Mike Judge is truly a genius. Everyone likes this movie. How can you not? The Mondays, the creepy boss, TPS reports, the bad cubicle job, the downsizing,Tchotchkes, Milton the weirdo, the broken printer, the scheme to get more money- hilarious. Great cast and plot.
LoneUSFullHous eFan 12/15/2006
I trully believe this is one of the few films that has something for everyone. From having a case of the Mondays, to wanting revenge on your boss, to wanting to beat up that printer that never seems to work, to the quiet guy in the corner who never seems to catch a break (or a stapler) there is not one person out thee who can't relate to something in this movie.
Djahuti 10/01/2006
It had its moments, but I'm glad I got the used video for $1.00 and didn't pay for a rental or theater ticket.
sfalconer 02/13/2006
The big guy going on and on about his stapler is funny but the rest of it is dull and boring. The cast is lifeless and drab, you don't really like any of the main characters as they are so whiney. How did they get Jennifer Aniston to appear in this?
gollygwiz 01/21/2006
um...yeah...I loved this movie.
Cosmo Renfro 01/05/2006
This movie was an extremely funny movie. The characters and plot are hysterical. I highly recommed this movie.

Was funny, but in the top ten????

um, yeeeaaah. I was wondering if you got the memo, this movie is hilarious. ookaaayy? greeeaatt, thaaannks. i say the "i believe you have my swingline stapler" line all the time. if you haven't seen it, just go rent it. you'll enjoy it.

I was surprised at how much I liked this movie, but anything with Jennifer Aniston is starting on the right foot. You don't have to work in an office to get all the jokes, simpy having a job will do. Hang onto that red stapler, and I'll save you a piece of cake.
bbutler76 05/09/2005
Thinking about taking that chick from logistics to the party. If everything goes right I'm gonna be showing her my oooh face; you know oooh oooh. Ooooh. I love this movie and it still makes me laugh; even though I have seen it about 50 times.
Wid71 05/09/2005
Yeahhhhhh, this movie is hilarious. Mmmmmkay? Thaaaaaaaaanks.
KC2DC 04/27/2005
Hilarious! I have never worked in the cube environment, but the movie still makes you think about all the crappy jobs you've had and ways to plot revenge against your bosses. I'm surprised it didn't do well at the box office...but it definitely developed following after it was released on video/DVD.
x3drumbum3x 04/24/2005
Quite possibly the greatest movie ever made. While that might be a stretch to some, I found this comedy to be a hilarious parody of the normal worker's life. This movie smartly pokes at the office lifestyle and how it can drive a person mad.
JonTheMan 04/10/2005
I've never worked in an office before but I think the theme of wanting to escape a spirit-crushingly tedious job is one that has fairly universal appeal. The boss is spot-on as a wannabe good leader whose attempts to be emollient are horribly grating with his needlessly elongated syllables and patronizing manner. The best scene is when the three central characters take the symbolically oppressive office photocopier to a secluded place and start to smash it up in slow motion to the strains of gangster rap music. Definitely a good film to watch when work is getting you down.
singsplatsing 04/09/2005
GREATEST FILM EVER MADE! Deserves eight stars! You disagree, you're wrong.

This movie was very entertaining to watch. Although it had questionable moments eg swareing, it was OK, although a bit ridiculous. It was interesting how that fat guy who was mental ended up burning the office down. Moral-Take a mental person seriously!
TIMMAHHH 02/04/2005
Great comedy, showing the boring life in a cubicle farm, having no interest of what is this job
Aurielle 12/24/2004
I love it. Ron Livingston is hilarious, and now everytime I see him in something I think of him as the Office Space guy. Great movie to watch with a big group of friends.
jjm1965 12/01/2004
Very funny movie about 9 to 5 big company cubicle life. I predict this movie will rank with Ferris Bueller's Day Off as a movie just about everyone has seen.
CanadaSucks 11/10/2004
My God, this movie is funny. I can't go to a chain restaraunt anymore without giggling at the chicks-who-wear-buttons. The movie will make you appreciate the job you already have or make you sympathize with the main character because you HATE your job. Pretty funny stuff. . .watch in revulsion as the main character has a vision that his boss is having sex with his girlfriend.
VirileVagabond 11/08/2004
Released in 1999 and directed by Mike Judge (of Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill fame), Office Space is a somewhat dark, comical, spot-on satire of the modern white-collar business environment. Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) is a computer programmer who goes through a change in philosophy and starts to act out his true apathy towards his job, which spills over to some of his co-workers (David Herman and Ajay Naidu). His bland job is also reflected in his bland social life, namely an average apartment and eating at average restaurants. Oddly enough, this new outlook gives him the courage to ask out an attractive waitress (Jennifer Aniston) who is suffering from work apathy as well and to speak his mind to a pair of efficiency experts who have been hired to downsize the company resulting in an unexpected promotion. Besides the absurdity of the everyday, what makes this film work is Livingston's intentionally flat performance which suggests the inertia and hopelessness of his situation, Stephen Root's portrayal of Milton the invisible and ignored employee, Gary Cole as the robotic boss, and the soundtrack which features rap and other music that seemingly runs contrary to the sterile environment that the film examines. The bottom line is that Office Space is an extremely funny yet poignant film examining contemporary office politics.

This movie is smart, funny, and hits the spirit of corporate America right in the gonads. In the lines of Catch-22, this movie is brilliant, I loved it.
Tinkerbellexxx 09/11/2004
it's a good movie. can be really funny at times.
fierce_pajamas 09/11/2004
It's starts out really funny, but fades towards the end.
sld31879 07/03/2004
A lot of good bits on work, but they're skits more than they cohere to form a larger movie. Still even if it's no more than the sum of it's parts they add up to quite a lot.
pennyroyalty 04/03/2004
the greatest, most cathartic movie for anyone who has ever hated their job, had an arse for a boss or a piece of office equipment that never seemed to work right for you. It's good to see these poor schmucks get everything they don't deserve.
minkey 02/18/2004
A great true to life comedy about the workplace. A can relate, being in my early twenties and surrounded by all these corporate buttheads whose only concern is their wallets. This movie did not do very well in the theaters but the video and dvd has been a top seller.
1JohnDoeFan 12/09/2003
I thought this movie was hilarious!!! I can't wait to see Mike Judge's next project!!!
riker32 11/04/2003
Funniest office movie ever.
elsacoyle 10/20/2003
If you've ever worked (been stuck) in an office/cubical job then this movie is for YOU. If you hate your job, if you fantasize about coming in one day and not giving a damn, blowing off your boss, even burning your whole place of employment down, than watch this movie. It's very theraputic for those of us wishing we didn't have to suffer thru WORK. (Anyone who doesn't like this movie obviously hasn't suffered at work enough!)
snlgirl 08/02/2003
I watch this every time it's on TV! It's so funny, the actors are great, and it has some of the funniest jokes ever. I love Milton, who always mumbles about his stapler, and eventually burns down the building!
kamylienne 07/19/2003
About 50% of this movie seemed like a live-action Dilbert comic, but that's okay. The commentary on office life and how horribly annoying the 9 to 5 can be is PAINFULLY accurate, so much that it's funny. Plus, the thing on the restaurant life (the "flair") is also quite accurate. I'd love to go postal on a printer like that! I was surprised to find that the creator was Mike Judge ("Beavis & Butt-head", "King of the Hill"); and it was a pleasant surprise, considering that I didn't want to see the movie after thinking "Oh, great, from the guy who made 'Beavis & Butt-head'?). Not the best movie in the world, but it's worth renting on a Tuesday night in.
ClassicTVFan47 06/01/2003
Yet another R-rated horror, this time set in an office, this one is also filled to the brim with bad acting, boring execution and gobs of objectionable content. There are over 80 uses of profanity, and again, for reasons I can begin to fathom, the most often used one is the worst one, the f-word. There is also sexual content (although not nearly as much as the worthless "American Pie" or the brain-dead "Martin Lawrence: RunTelDat." And, of course, drug use and alcohol is present. But, what else would you expect from the writers of the stupid "Beavis & Butt-Head" series on the network for brain-deads, MTV. Stay out of this office and run to a certain Federation starship, catch some Pokemon, or let it snow!
RebelYell1861 05/31/2003
I find myself watching this every time it comes on Comedy Central. I don't know why it's so good.
M'k'n'zy_of_Ca lhoun 05/02/2003
The regular cubicle-working, engineer guys and the gangsta rap come together to make some of the most hilarious stuff I have ever seen on a movie (enough to compete with even the great Monty Python!).
President -X-D 04/14/2003
This movie was very funny. Those living in the office cubicle world should be able to relate to alot of it. Excellent satire of office life.
TheMyth 04/14/2003
For anyone who has worked in the computer division of a large company can appreciate the humor in this movie. I loved this movie. We all know the boss, Bill Lumberg, the woman in the cubicle next to us with the most annoying voice, the memo's that everyone but you got, etc... Alot of mindless humor, but also some intelligent things, you just have to be smart enough to catch it.
SarahJ 03/25/2003
If you've ever worked in an office, this movie will really hit home. It's hilarious; a classic.
