The founding fathers of this country must have had someone like Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan in mind when they considered the type of people who would serve not only in the Senate, but in the public arena. He was a man with a great intellect and humility. No one in the Senate had such a keen understand of the public policy process and he had the guts to stand up to his convictions despite the heavy partisan environment that permeates Washington. We lost a giant last year.
