Lifetime Fitness Club 1

Most greedy corporation I ever dealt with! They are constantly raising their fees and dues due to the stupidity of the public here who continues to pay them what they want.

I joined a Lifetime Fitness club in NW San Antonio, paid high membership fees ($200 initiation + $65 monthly) and I was told I can use my membership at any club. I went to exercise in NC San Antonio location and they had the audacity to ask me for additional $20 a month just to use the same exact identical club and equipments. Furthermore; I was treated like I am trying to steal something! I cancelled my membership and told them to shove it where the sun don't shine!!!!

North Austin is dirty and they tack on extra fees to an already high membership fee. The personnel are not helpful when you want your money back. I would rather ride my bike in the cold rain than walk through that locker room again.

If you want to support a weird cultish company thats always trying to upsell you on classes, higher membership categories, training--and worst of all their obsessive and bogus "metabolism" educational "system", Lifetime's your place!

Clubs are fair to nice, equipment maintenance tends to be problematic but cleanliness is usually OK.

Truly, the clubs are usually just fine--its corporate you gotta watch out for!

My friends and I have had endless mischarges on your monthly dues, and when you call to resolve things be prepared for relentless run-around and alot of people with no authority to solve the problem. It can be VERY difficult to find out who's in charge, because frankly the corporate end of Lifetime is obsessively centralized.

Add to that generally bored and unfriendly front desk help (or worse yet, absent desk help)--mind you, they are this way I'm told because pay is dismal-- and you've pretty much got lifetime all summed up.

I've belong to lifetime fitness in michigan, but i have visited facilites in austin, dallas, and ohio. I've also belonged to alot of other gyms in the past. None of them compare to lifetime. The fitness classes are excellent, they have pick up volleyball, and i don't have to wait for machines. Towels, lotions, and even hair gel are provided. They have a cafe, and one of the best salons around - aveda salons. For people that are whining about pool hrs etc. for their kids - don't you think that's a little selfish? My number one complaint about lifetime is they cater to people with kids too much. There's a lot of my membership dues that go towards programs for kids. I don't have any kids, and i don't want to have to navigate around your kids when i use the pool. I think you should be happy they have daycare. You think all the after work hours should be family pool time? Well i sure as hell don't. 4 stars to lifetime for keeping it open for the actual people that are paying $50 for a membership, and not $6. I'm really sick of people who have kids that think the whole world is supposed to cater to them.

This place really sucks. First of all they are over priced and they have this stupid rules which, I wanted to discontinue my membership and they need a one month notice that too if on are before 5th of that month or else you need to pay for the next month. They have good machines and equipment but the management and employee really bad.

I was a member of LTF for 5 years in Indianapolis, IN. Its a beautiful facility, and I convinced myself it was worth the $100/month plus the $300 enrollment for me and my husband because it was close to home and nice to look at. Then I slowly started being treated horribly. No respect whatsoever by the customers ervice staff or the trainers. The personal trainers aren't even paying attention to their clients. They are behind computers or busy looking around. There is al ot of really nice equipment, and you never have to wait for a cardio machine. BUT--its so expensive, I could save the $ and buy my own cardio equipment at home!! Also, I was denied entrance because I forgot my card--when they can vert easily look at my picture on their computer. That was it, I left. Bottom line--nice machines, nice facility--WAY OVERPRICED!!!

I have been a member of Life Time Fitness in Dallas for almost 3 years. When I joined in Sept of 2004, I paid an enrollment fee and started monthly dues. My membership agreement included myself, my wife, and 2 children. All 4 of us are listed on the agreement. For almost 3 years there were no problems. Then, two days ago I received a letter stating that as of Oct 1, 2007 my two children were no longer included on my membership. I would be required to pay $6.00 per month for each child (Junior Membership). I have tried numerous times to contact my local gym and Life Time Fitness Corporate offices. No one seems to care that I was lied to when I joined in 2004 when they told me my dues covered my 4 family members. The money is not as much the issue as the deceptive sales practices. When I joined in 2004 I was told my dues covered my 4 family members- now they don't. I'm sure they care more about signing up new members- and hope the rest of us just go away quietly.

I use the facility in Savage, MN. Family swimming hours are unfriendly for working parents. Inside pool is underutilized, yet family hours are overly restricted there. Customer service is about as bad as I as have ever experienced.

Decent facilities, if you are an adult or mid-afternoons work for you to bring your kids.

Lifetime Fitness is by far the best health club I have ever been a member of! Some people writing reviews complain about the cancelation policy for the club but they obviously didnt read the policies on their paperwork the way i did. The staff is very friendly, the cardio area is huge and i never have to wait to get on a machine. I would recommend this club to anyone! I have two kids that love the pool and child area so the $5 a month for each of them is nothing. Its a shame that some people are just to cheap to spend $5 a month on their child having a good time!

I am actually emabarrased to admit I have been a member for about 3 years. During that time I have had to endure constant lack of towels, and the completely annoying 'safety break', where they close their pools for 10 minutes every hour. No one else does this. They also acknowledge, but don't followup on any compaint. One example is I called first to see if the slide would be open for the pool, when I got their to use it, they closed it earlier than they said; would not give an explanation, just 'tough luck'.

The straw that ended it for me is now they charge additional $5 per kid, even if I don't want to use the daycare. $5 each just for the kids to be able to swim. And they just tacked it on without telling me about it. Furthermore, although their contract says one can terminate with 30 day notice, they refuse to pro-rate the last month, meaning that if you want to quit, you have to still pay for up to two months.

This is for the Arizona locations, but it looks like a lot of the problems are driven by corporate policy, so apply everywhere. I will be recommending other gyms to my friends in the future.

I go to the LTF in Willowbrook TX and I like it although it is expensive to get a membership there. It is a stunning building and very clean. The fitness classes are great as well as the fitness machines. The kids center has a great vibe to it and my kids love the art projects they get to create. My kids also love the pool slides. Really my only down fall is the cost of everything. Cafe, spa and extra member activities are a little on the high side.

I think someone should investigate lifetime fitness especialy Chanhassen in minnesota in the Life Cafe there is a sertain manager who is not holding his end of the bargain, you see I guess he has been telling people that they will be getting paid oh lets say $8.00 an hr but really is getting paid $ 7.50 or another is $11.00 but really getting $9.00 now I might be mistaken but I do think that is illegal but i could be wrong. Oh and I guess you can't stic up for your self there either I know a guy who got fired for that!

Joined south Austin location and have been going to north location till south is finished with construction.
So far we are very pleased, good child care, and family pool hours are child appropriate.
Rock wall is nice and cafe is very helpful. Salon is good if a touch expensive.
We go for around 5-7 hours each time we go (it's a long drive to the north location) and so making a day of it forces me to plan the events and so far have had no problems.

Staff not friendly and rude a lot of times (probably because of the way they are trained and strange corporate policies), facility is overcrowded (specifically basketball and raquetball), can't bring a child (such as a sibling) unless I am their parent (written permission not accepted), can't bring a guest after 9 PM (no exceptions... I tried to bring a guest at like 9:02), If I forget my photo ID/lifetime card, I am denied entrance even though my picture is on the computers, employees can't ever make exceptions to any of the rediculous rules, etc., etc., etc.

The facilities are nicely kept, but all these strange rules make me hate the place. It seems like every time I go, they want to deny my entrance for a reason I am unprepared for. I discover something new about corporate policy every time I go. It sucks getting treated like crap for something that you pay your hard-earned money for. Oh, and if I want cancel my membership, I have to pay an additional month since I have to give 30 days notice to cancel. What is the reason for this? To make more money? Good luck getting customers to come back.

From now on, I will dis-recommend Lifetime Fitness to everyone.

The spa people seem to be catty and bitchy. The massage service is below average. The rest of the facility is nice, I like the free towels. This for the Centreville Virginia location.

I wasted my money.
This club opened on Sept 2005, at first we were impressed by the facility but later we started to see things we didn't like:
Basketball courts always full or they were used for other activities, if you have kids it is hard to make use of the pools, you may think that with the money you are paying they should be open most of the time but they are not, the indoor pool is most of the time closed to kids under 12.
Then we brought our own floating devices for my 2 year old son and a lifeguard told me we could not use them, he was a little bit rude, it looks like all they want is your money.
But the really worst part was the locker room, in a few months there were sections where you could not stand the smell, believe me take a tour of the facility and go to the locker room, you will be disappointed, just imagine how many micro organisms live in that carpet.
Very nice daycare but my son was getting sick more often specially a day after being in the lifetime daycare.

This review is for the one in Austin, TX but it won't surprise me that other lifetime clubs are the same.

Joined with $250 enrollment fee and paying $99 / month with a promise that it is an upscale facility. Some of the staff are friendly and the others are plain rude and apathetic. It is crowded with many that many times it is very hard to find a parking spot. It is not worth the money. If you are single it is cheeper and propably a good bet.

Excellent club..two studios...very clean with a great daycare including playmaze and appropriate computer games for the kids. Beautiful well-maintained pools indoor and outdoor. Loads of very new cardio equipment with FM band TVs on two walls. Extra member activities can be bought separately - swim lessons, rock climbing etc. Do go there.
