I liked it well enough as a kid, and I'll eat a slice of it now as an adult if it happens to be available at whatever function or "summertime" event I'm attending, but if I never eat it again in this life, it won't bother me all that much. As with most fruit, I understand it's healthy and nutritious, but it's too boring for me to get enthusiastic about. Hopefully, a lifetime of abstaining from tobacco will help make up for my neglecting fruit.

Hmm...well I didn't know it originated in Africa! Cool fact of the day. I only rated this an OK because I am not much a fruit person. Watermelon tastes amazing. It oozes Summertime. What I don't like is that you can RARELY find a good one. You know, one that is really ripe and good. Usually they tend to be kind of pithy and grany. When I was little we would call it "sandy watermelon"...and that just ruins the whole experience. I also don't like the whole "spitting seeds" aspect, but thats just me, the girly girl. As a photographer, one of the cutest images I can think of is a toddler holding a giant piece of watermelon, juice dripping down their elbows and cheeks.

Watermelon tastes great in the summer especially if it is cold and not over or under ripe. I do not tend to like it as well in the winter months.

I could eat watermelon all day! I love how it's sweet, watery and crispy! The red color is also great. I have many stories of eating watermelon too late in the evening and then having to go to the bathroom every hour all during the night. That did not stop me from eating one of my favorite fruits however! I try to treat myself during the summer with watermelon as often as possible.

There are few things more refreshing on a hot summer afternoon than an ice cold slice of watermelon. It is my personal belief that this fruit is one of the most underutilized in the kitchen. Watermelon is great by itself but it can also be used in everything from refreshing sorbets to an interesting twist on sweet pickles. I would say that the "Jolly Rancheresque" candy watermelon flavor has ruined alot of peoples palates for what good watermelon is supposed to taste like, but they're pretty stinkin' good as well.
