Yes, "Ithaca is Gorges." Sure the campus is lovely, thousands of students and possible future connections, and more classes than you would ever care to take, but it does snow 8 months a year, and there is nothing to do but bury yourself in one of the many libraries and study. The weather, the academic pressure plus the alienation in an overly large campus may turn Cornell grads (If you have managed to steer clear of "Bridge Jumping 101") into cut throat med students, unemployed engineers, or, like any other college grads, find yourself doing something that has nothing whatsoever to do with your undergrad major. The bright side of it all is that through this crucible, you will make some of the best friends you ever made. Misery makes great company. I have heard it said that anywhere from 40 to 75% of Cornell grads get married to each other, and I dare say the weather is one of the factors.
