 | Molfan (57) 07/30/2007 | apples are okay. but as much as i have tried eating them. I have never been fond of apples raw. now baked, I like a lot. not sure why. I keep sampling them. only when I have a raw one dunked in carmel I like them that way. by themself not as big of a fan.

 | edt4 (99) 07/30/2007 | It's my luck; it's probably the best food you can eat, the healthiest, and I can't stand it. Any of it. Apples, pears, plums, apricots, etc. etc. I'll sometimes drink apple juice, which can help keep you awake and alert more nutritiously than caffeine can. And I do love apple pie (warm, with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on it). But if I never had to eat another apple in this life, it wouldn't bother me.

 | Vudija (92) 02/03/2007 | Pretty much the only fruit I really eat. I'll eat it fresh with peanut butter, in pies etc. I just love them...

 | kissthecook (8) 05/23/2005 | For some reason, I have never liked eating just an apple. I always have to have it in something like pie, or chopped up in cinnamon oatmeal. Even if I don't like plain apples, apple pie alone is worth five stars in my book.

 | texasyankee (21) 04/19/2005 | Love granny smith, and an under-ripe Macintosh, but that's the only kind I like.. in fact LOVE the crunchy sourness.

 | artzygal (0) 04/12/2005 | Give me a Granny Smith any day of the week. Forget the sweet Macintosh ones, they are getting too mealy

 | rainer21 (0) 08/08/2004 | Apples are extremely overrated. I've never cared for the texture, the crunch, the skin, or the dull sweetness of most apples. Green apples and of course apple pie are the exception for me, therefore, I'll tack on two more stars.

 | tvtator (5) 11/18/2003 | One of the most versatile fruits. Almost nothing beats a good juicy apple. So many different types of apples, some tart and some sweet and juicy- whatever you prefer. Good for pies, apple cobblers, candy apples, dipping in carmel dips, baking with pork chops or whatever else you can come up with using your imagination.

 | Markus Williams (0) 02/06/2003 | I really enjoy eating apples, in fact, they are one of the only fruit I eat regularly. I prefer the Granny Smith variety - they are always fresh and crunchy, never soft and with an unpleasant taste. Apples always make me feel refreshed and are very satisfying. They make my teeth hurt sometimes, which is why they only get 4 stars from me.

 | Sasha Timberlake (0) 02/06/2003 | Yes I can confirm what Castlebee wrote on that fateful day in 2001. I just had an apple and my mouth feel wonderfully fresh. It's too early to tell if the vitamins and pectin have kicked in. I especially like "Braeburn" apples but generally am not too picky when it comes to apple varieties.

 | reeny (3) 06/23/2002 | Unfortunately I am allergic to apples, but I still think that they are a great fruit. They just have a very refreshing taste and can be used to make so many different types of dishes. Apples are cool.

 | MorgansInJesus (1) 11/25/2001 | I had to give the handy old apple a 5 rating, since I most likely eat more of them than any other fruit! And my wife makes a great apple pie too!

 | CastleBee (81) 09/11/2001 | I really don’t believe any fruit is better for you than an apple. Luckily, a good apple is usually not all that hard to find at almost any time of the year where I live. I personally like all kinds, Gala, Red Delicious, the yellow and green varieties. The pectin is good for your stomach, the peel is chock full of vitamins and flavor, and they are a great way to end a lunch leaving your breath surprisingly fresh. You can do a lot with them too – all kinds of deserts, make juice, cider, dry them, candy them, smother them in caramel and mash them into apple butter. One of my favorite ways to use apples is in a great old recipe I found stir-frying them with a little bacon grease with cabbage and onions. It may sound a little strange if you’ve never had it but it is wonderful!

 | MedgarEvers (14) 09/10/2001 | Apple cider, apple juice, apple pie, apple sauce (although it can give me stomach aches), it's all good. It's a bit more mundane to me than other fruits, and I've never been big on just biting into one for a snack, but I've always liked em.

 | Frank15 (0) 09/10/2001 | One of the "big 3" fruits, and perhaps most deserving of the title, at least compared to bananas and oranges. Perhaps the one downside to apples is that I don't like eating the skin, so I have to peel it. It's not THAT hard, but it's annoying. However, that is made up by their versitility in what they can be used for--namely various desserts (think apple pie here!). Can any other fruit be used in so many great dishes as apples can? And even by themselves, apples are pretty good, though not outstanding. Perhaps the major downside of apples though? Apple juice... that stuff sure doesn't taste like apple to me...
