Speed Skating has always been my favorite olympic sport venue to watch. I use to play youth hockey as a kid, and every time I watch speed skating I wish I had participated or gotten involved years back. I love ice skating, not prissy figure skating but rather speed hustle on the ice.

I just love this sport. At the 500 meters event, nobody can beat the Japanese. They simply explode when the starting gun goes off, and do the 100 meters faster than Maurice Greene ever did. And it`s also great to watch the 10000 meters when after 8000 meters the skaters faces are twisted in pain, but they manage to keep the pace up.

This event is the bomb! Fast-paced excitement that is just plain (pun intended) cool! My favorite event of the Winter Olympics. When I was little I used to mimic this by shuffling around in my socks on waxed floors (I called it speed socking).
