For the past 6 months, my husband and I have had numerous problems with them although we have separate accounts and have never dealt with them together on 1 particular case. They give the customers the runaround so they don't have to assist them. They provide bad information to consumers, but do not hold themselves accountible for it. i was hung up on numerous times, on hold "forever", and wasted over 10 hours of time dealing with them. they caused me to lose over 1400 of credit with Alitalia. I have emailed the executives and filed BBB complaints. This company is unethical in my opinion.

Beware - I booked a flight and rental car through orbitz. I was offered limo service on the website, I clicked on it for more information. Then orbitz charged my credit card. I canceled the service with the limo company and contacted my credit card company, they still charged me for a service I did not use. Customer service at orbitz stinks!

I have been a user of Orbitz since it first came out and I have never had any problems with it. I really like their user interface. And I really like how they made it really easy for me to sign up just as a regular individual traveler, as well as an employee of one of their enterprise accounts. Their customer service could use some improvements, like having more agents, for example. I also think it's lame to lead you into thinking you're going to get one rate, and as soon as they know you're interested in booking the trip, the fares magically increase... But I guess this is a problem with all online travel sites in general.

No stars for these guys. How they can claim to have any customer service let alone one called TLC I will never know. The airline we originaly booked with (Alitalia) changed a flight and told us we'd have to work with Orbitz to change to a new one. What a struggle! It took us weeks and many phone calls. We talked to customer service agents in Kentucky, Manila, and Mauritius umong other plces. We were repeatedly told the rebooking was accomplished and our new tickets would be arriving by mail. Total lies! We finally got hold of a number in Mankato, Mn which is apparently a headquarters or staff facility. By being totally obnoxious and calling back every few minutes we finally got them off the dime. Wanted to get rid of the pain I suppose. After starting this process six weeks before departure we finally got our tickets a few days before we left. I was fully prepared to go there and sort it out personally with them. What a poorly managed outfit Orbitz is. Use them at your own-considerable-risk and hope that nothing changes after making the initial booking.

Do I have to give one star? I think that Orbitz may get it right if nothing changes (hotel overbooking, flight overbooking etc.) but when life happens orbitz has a massive stroke. I have a reservation through Orbitz that I had to cancel due to attention needed elsewhere. The hotel was going to charge for one night, not happy but undetstandable. But orbitz was going to charge for the whole stay...and had already hit my credit card for two nights worth before stepping foot in the door of the hotel. (charges showed up Thursday for Friday and Saturday nights)After call customer service Twice, being hung up both times (switching to the "right person to talk with")Finally a person gets on the line, speaks with a supervisor and says they were charging me the whole stay. You have got to be kidding--One night I can understand, the whole stay? Well, I called my credit card company and reported the card stolen. Extreme, perhaps-but I be damned if someone was getting 700.00 of my money when services was not given!!
Tikitorch 10/11/2006
Use their website only to research your hotel - Then call the hotel directly. You will save tons of money. Due to a hotel error I was given a receipt with the actual room charge ($428) and Orbitz charged me $545. When I called customer service, obviously I was not supposed to have this information as my questions were responded to with 'Err' 'Uhm' and the best - Total Silence. Then the lies of 'No one else can help you or knows the answer to your question'. I will never use them again.

I don't want to give them even one star. I found their advertizing to be false. When I tried to make adjustments to my plans, because of thier false advertizment they charged me $25. 10-2-06

139 minutes later... Booked monthes prior to our trip, got a notice from Orbitz that the itinerary had changed, contacted Orbitz by phone to arrange for an acceptable itinerary. In order to make the changes, I was informed rather rudely ("As I said earlier...." opening many statements by the Orbitz representative throughout my 139 minute telephone re-schedule/ordeal), that I'd need to start from scratch, and between the increase in fare and penalties I'd need to pay 190. per ticket more than my original pricing. I cancelled 3 of us and agreed to the new "deal" for one. (Got a partial credit for three tickets, less penalties and fees, to use within the next year with the airline we originally booked with.) While making those arrangements I told the representative I'd need to book a car as well. She connected me with the car rental agent and I made the arrangements. At that point I was told that the discount for booking the flight and car did not apply unless I wanted to start over yet again, and book a flight and car together. Wasn't that what I just did? Not according to Orbitz. Unless one is completely savvy to navigate the ins and outs of Orbitz's rules, even when they don't keep up their end of the bargain (the original plans were changed by them, which got this whole mess started), I would highly recommend using another service, any other service. Heck, call the airlines and car rental companies direct!

Awful experience with Orbitz!! I write this in hopes that someone will learn from my mistake. I felt safe (foolish error!) booking through Orbitz because of their 'low fare guarantee'. Within hours of booking my trip, I found a lower price on Travelocity; Orbtiz refused to honor their guarantee, and I found customer service to be less than responsive in addressing my issue. After several phone calls and emails, I finally gave up,but a month before my trip I realized the price for the EXACT trip I'd purchased was now more than $200 cheaper on Orbitz site!! Still they wouldn't refund me my money. I was rudely informed I could cancel my trip and re-purchase at the lower rate, but after all the penalties I would be assessed, I still would end up paying 1.5x the cost of the trip. We book several trips each year and have had good experience with Travelocity and Expedia..needless to say, we will NEVER use Orbitz again.

Awful Customer Service. I would not recommed to book airfare through orbitz they do not back there product nor stand by there commitment to the consumer. What our problem was with orbitz was when we booked the flight 2 weeks went by and the price dropped $200 per ticket and they would not refund us the difference the only way we would get the difference is if we paid $100 more per ticket to cancell. Customer service had my family on hold for 45 minutes and then hung up. I would recommend you go through the airline itself because they are more cooporitiave and they ended up refunding the $200 per tickets and they said "that they had a number of complaints about orbitz"

I don't even want to give them one star. The first time Orbitz messed up for me was in Mexico, when we discovered that Orbitz had sent us to a non-existent car rental agency, We ended up without a car and many dollars worth of taxi bills. The second time Orbitz messed up was when we arrived at a hotel only to find that Orbitz still hadn't confirmed our reservation with them! We ended up waiting for an hour and a half before just booking a room with that hotel. The third time, this time, Orbitz cancelled my hotel reservation without my permission. Then, they charged me for the entire stay! Wow, Orbitz sucks. I have used every site online and I have to say, Orbitz is the worst. Customer service is offl Orbitz doesn't even know what's going on; no proper contact with the hotels they manage. I will be sure to tell everyone I know and every review site I can find to avoid Orbitz unless they want to spend an hour of their time trying to rectify a mistake that Orbitz made.

I will never go through Orbitz again, neither will my family and friends. I booked a hotel through Orbitz and after getting to the hotel (Holiday Inn in Des Moines off Merle Hay Road), it was the most disguisting place I've ever been, I tried to cancel. After being on hold for about 40 minutes, I hung up. I tried again and the same thing happened. They then told me my hotel had to do the canceling, which I found out later, was not the case. The manager of the hotel then told me that Orbitz had to call and discuss this with him. After 24 hours of agonizing pain and suffering of trying to cancel a room reservation, nothing was accomplished. I actually think getting a divorce would be easier than trying to get out of this room. DO NOT EVER go through Orbitz. To save $5, it was totally not worth it. Orbitz admitted to me that they make 15% off of the room each night and this is why it is not possible to get a cancellation. I even asked if I could just stay one night (to give 24 hours notice) and they wouldn't even do this. Never again will I use Orbitz.

My husband and I purchased our airline tickets with Orbitz and included airline ticket protector offered by Orbitz mainly because as we booked a trip to attend my husbands parents 50th anniversary, we where not certain when our child would be placed with us for adoption. When we got the happy news placement would happen a few days prior to our planned trip naturally we had to cancel. Ticket protector refused to refund our tickets, as this type of “family situation” was not described in their terms and conditions; Orbitz gave us a credit with a $200 per ticket change fee, almost half of what our tickets had cost. To claim the credit has been extremely difficult, including the restriction that the credit would only be valid with the airline we originally had booked with, also excluding any of their partners. When I tried to claim the credit finally being able to fly the same airline as on the original booking, only after 3 hours of being transferred and put on hold by customer service finally someone booked the change. However, not after including a $30 service fee per change on top of the change fee, that needed to be paid separately and could not be deducted from the credit. The customer service representative then offered a phone number to contact the airline directly to try booking trough them, as this might save the $30 service fee. Needless to say after having been on hold for hours and transferred so many times I just wanted to book the ticket and be done with it. This experience with Orbitz has been costly, time consuming and very disappointing. I will no longer recommend using them.

Ok for searching for flights and finding the lower cost alternatives, but if your itinerary involves two or more airlines, take that information to a real travel agent to ensure proper customer service and protection. Dealing online with a faceless company for complex itineraries is like playing with fire. Just too much that can go wrong.

I will not use Orbitz again! I had booked a hotel, through Orbitz, back in May of 2004 for a trip to Boston, arriving Sept. 29, 2004. I called the hotel, after I booked it, to make sure they had our reservation. They did. The day we checked in, Sept. 29, 2004, the Radisson in Boston had bumped us. To make a long story short I found out later after I contacted Orbitz, that the Radisson called Orbitz, a couple hours before we arrived, and cancelled our reservations. Orbitz accepted the cancellation, I received no notification of it, since we were in the air on our way to Boston. I had no emails or contact from Orbitz, after I returned from my trip to let me know they had automatically credited my credit card for what I had paid them in May, 2004. My point, how could Orbitz accept a cancellation at the last minute! The day of our arrival! There should be a 48 to 72 cancellation deadline for the hotels. Orbitz did not care that they had left us in a city we were not familiar with, without hotel. And I was under the impression I had paid for a room and yet had nothing to show for it. Orbitz tried to offer me a $25 coupon for my troubles. I did not accept it. Be very careful! More and more hotels are bumping or cancelling web reservations, at the last mintue, since we pay less. Orbitz is aware of this. The customer service person I talked to, at Orbtiz, said it is becoming more common. There should be some protection for the clients that have booked through Orbitz. Why would one continue to book through Orbitz if they can't hold or guarantee a reservation? It turns out the hotels don't receive the money we have paid to Orbitz, until after we checked out. So we, as web customers, have no leverage.

Ever tried talking to customer support people ? Terrible. Untrained people. I am trying to get refund for a cancelled trip for the past 3 months. Not a single reponsible response. If you want better customer service DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS SITE. You will definitely regret. As long as things are taken care by computers, things will be fine. If you want some service like REFUND, they terribly stink.

Best site period. Pop-up stopper might help you other idiots...
Sheba 07/24/2003
I like thier grid listing for prices by the airlines. Too much spam/pop-ups.
elaythia 06/12/2003
Buyer beware of this company and pray you never have to use the "customer service" number! We had numerous problems with their website listing tickets which were unavailable when you tried to purchase them, agreed to a price on a ticket and were then given different pricing when we tried to purchase, given dates/times when we purchased that were completely different than the either of the dates/times they sent in the confirmations. Customer service was contacted on 9 different occasions and never failed to be rude, condescending, leave us on hold, transfer us to the wrong dept/another company (!) or just plain hang up on us. We were given several bits of bad information by "customer service" and instructed to call the airline because they didn't seem to know when our flight was - come on! Numerous letters and e-mails sent to their "Orbitz Cares" site(including "Cons Corner" - how appropriate) did not garner a simple acknowledgement - nothing!

I've recently been using Orbitz regularly to book business trips.. and I'm always really pleased with the fares. Now that they've added their hotel feature, that just makes it even easier to use Orbitz for everything. I'm really happy with their services.
Paradise1003 04/10/2003
Just OK, They got good deals, but they ask for your credit card info. before you chose a hotel when you are looking for a flight-hotel deal. Example, They let you chose the flight times, but when you continue to chose the hotel you want, they want the credit card #, exp date, etc. And I don't like that, I don't think it is right

I love Orbitz!!! They always provide me with the best fares...and I think that they are extremely user friendly.

I've been using Orbitz for at least a year and pretty much exclusively buy tickets there. I've always had a good experience.
Jason1972 11/05/2002
I would be grading Priceline, but they're not on here but Orbitz has been a secondary choice of mine. They give you plenty of choices as far as airlines and they give you the price right on the spot, no red tape involved. Too many spams by these guys though, but still resourceful.
hubbahubba19 05/03/2002
I wanted to ask about charges to my card and about the e-ticket and a customer service representative was able to assiste me just fine. I have used this service many times because of available flights but now I am even more pleased with them

They are the best. I found a great trip to Ireland this Spring and I am happy with the fare that I paid and also had no airline problems.

I looked for lowest fasre and found it on this site. It was easy to find and the flight was very simple no fine print incidences. Customer service was great i love the fact that i was emailed with a confirmation of all my flight information. I never used anything else since my first experience with orbitz.

Hate Them--their damn advertisements keep popping up when i want to check a web site--might be a flimsy annoyance but i'm sticking w/it!

I love their fares and have consistently bought tickets from them when shopping for the best deals. I have had no problem with their e-tickets either so i am very happy. They also have a section for college students this was very nice and super helpful to even further my savings.

I love the convenience the up to date information that they send to my cell phone through email and their e-ticket. With lower prices than most sites and all this I have no choice but to give this rating to orbitz.
dabears85 12/05/2001
The site layout makes Orbitz simple to use while the huge option of flights lets you pick exactly what you want. Furthermore, an email is sent to you when you reserve a flight that contains flight info, what to bring to the airport, time to leave, and other info on new airport procedures.
Potch1214 11/29/2001
Sorry, I have never used the site, but I am giving them one star for all their stupid damned pop-up adds I get all day long! Enough already!
magellan 11/28/2001
Very fast and easy to use. Slightly more user friendly than Travelocity or Expedia, and I have good luck in finding decent fairs through Orbitz.
Rob2001 11/28/2001
The site is by far the easiest to use. It offers a full range of options so you know you're getting what you want.
