Great guitarist....

One of the most influential and innovative.  It's hard to diagree with Jimi being at the very top of any "best of" list.

Funny, I never noticed that Jimi had to "twist or tweak his face" to show he had soul.  Now I'm really impressed with him!  Thanks for pointing that out antorbeetles.

This guy had a gimmick, a unique or a special feature that makes something stands out. He was black, a lefty, you had to twist or tweak your face to show that you are playing from the soul.

Listen to Wind Cries Mary and all of Electric Ladyland..  enough said...this is why he is considered the greatest. It was the sound, the technique. Guitarists arnt about speed, its technique. As far as Jimi's lyrics...I think he was an underrated lyricist, again listen to Wind Cries Mary.  Feedback?  Jimi wasnt just about feedback and by the way John Lennon was the first to use feedback in I Feel Fine ...  or so he claims.

Jimi Hendrix was pretty amazing! I wouldn't listen to him every day though.

there is 1 reason every1 says he is the best, beacuse when he came on the seen he was a breath of fresh air he was the first main guitarist to use loads of feeback, distortion and fuzz pedals. Everyone at the time had never really seen guitarist's do this with the exception of Townshend using feedback. Everyone then fought WOW this bloke is brilliant no1 has every done this before which was true no had ever done that before. BUT since then we have seen the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brian May, Jeff Beck ect all do the same to the same extent and are also doing it better. Now everyone who  grew up in Hendrix's era says yes these guitarists are good but iv seen it all before BLAH BLAH BLAH Hendrix was the fist to do it BLAH BLAH BLAH. Then every1 after Hendrix's era grows up being told Hendix was the first to do it therefore he must be the best every, regardless of the fact the likes of Page, SRV and May, Beck r doing the same thing. Let me ask u, if Hendrix was 10 years later and Stevie Ray Vaughan was 15 years earlier most people would be saying excatly the same thing they say bout Hendrix

The point im trying to make is because Hendrix was the first real flash showman guitarist doesnt mean hes the best, BUT its sticks in most peoples minds that just because he was the first then every after him must bow done to him. IT IS A UNWRITTEN LAW IN GUITAR PLAYING THAT U CANT KNOCK HENDRIX BECAUSE HE WAS THE FIRST ONE USING THOSE TECHNIQUES - BOLLOCKS

And let me put this across to those that dont agree with my previous comments, Eric Clapton (for me the best guitarist of all time) out shines Jimi 100% when it comes do actuall GUITAR SKILL. Eric does not need to get his guitar to feedback and distoret to make him be recognizabl. watch on youtube  'While My Guitar Weeps' at the concert for George Harrison and you will see what i mean, watch any version of Layla in 2001 and you will see what i mean. The fact remains when it cums to guitar skill Eric was/is better BUT when it comes to showmanship Jimi is better - setting your guitar on fire a DONT make u the fucking best guitarist of all time.

Jimi was a great showman who disguised the fact he was not as good as every1 makes him out to be by adding all this distortion and feeback to make it sound good and doing excatly wot he did best - being a showman

Now before u all say u cant dis the so-called 'Best of all time' (TYPICAL STREOTYPICAL GUITAR FOLK LAW) im not saying he aint worthly of being in the top 10 beacuse he is, wot im saying is Clapton, SRV, Page, Gilmour, May and Moore are all better than him beacuse they have better guitar SKILL than him

He is ok, but I have a bad memory. I took one of my wives to a concert of his, I can't remember which, and we got into a fight and ended up in a divorce. That might have been my 3rd or 4th wife. I lost track.

Hey Chris, nice touch adding the track. Boy he really sounded like shit there eh. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Jimmy is a 1 star hack, but when he played bad...It was really bad, Jimmy Page also had some bad live outings as well, although a lot of that had to do with drugs and booze.

You have to squeak and twist your face to show that you are playing from the soul. Must be able to play lefty and hump your guitar. This is BS!
