Yeah, Banff is nice but it's an hour away from that dump called Calgary...Please don't mention Jasper, that's like  4 hours away and nearly in BC...Face it, Calgary and pretty much the whole Alberta sucks....Cold, flat , boring, filled with conservative wise asses, has very few interesting restaurants , bars or anything else to keep you entertained...It might your kind of place if you like to complain about foreigners, linedance or drink crappy beer till you pass out...Oh yeah, it's got lots of jobs in the oil industry. Yeepee!

Beautiful. Banff and Jasper have some of the most amazing scenery I've ever seen. And the Icefields Pkwy is amazing too.

I live in Calgary and it is very dirty. Looks like a wind blown garbage dump. You think a city that had money could hire someone to pick up the garbage collecting on all the fences on city property. May be give some incentive for store owners to clean their properties up. Heck I have travelled to Mexico and find it a lot cleaner than Calgary.

I have travelled extensively through Alberta. Edmonton I find is not too bad, has some good shopping and people are friendly for the most part. The city is kept relatively clean and they seem to take pride in their city.
Calgary is a HORRIBLE city. People are rude, stink of disgusting body odour and are very unfriendly. The city is filthy, I have seen disaster struck cities in better shape than this place. I could not believe the garbage thrown around the city and not just one area. The air stinks of this foul sour smell all the time and they drive like they are brain dead. There is no shopping to speak of, heck Butte Montana has better shopping then this place. This city reminds me of a small dirt poor cow town that never left the 1950's. If you are travelling through Alberta stay away from this city.......HA, HA, HA, thats a laugh, I should have said hamlet.

I love Alberta!!! I have been to every province in Canada except for the North West Territories. I live in Newfoundland now, but i lived in Alberta for 10 years. I Loved Edmonton, i liked Fort McMurray, I loved Drumheller, I loved Banff and Jasper too! But i was only to Calgary once, and I think it is far more cleaner than any other city in Cananda!

Hell no. Do NOT go to Alberta if you're from Newfoundland, or know anoyone from Newfoundland. I went there for one month last summer, and everyone was so terrible to me. I had never been so stereotyped and flat out made fun of in my life. I left Alberta, and vowed never to go back, and if I did, I was going to kill ANYONE and EVERYONE who mentioned anything about where I was. I'm sure theres nice people hid in there somewhere, but the 20 plus people I met were the rudest, most ignorant people ever.

I don't see why Edmontonians feel the need to bash Calgary so insistently. Nobody in Calgary gives a rat's ass about Edmonton- we look to Vancouver and Toronto for inspiration; Edmonton is irrelevant to us, you might consider the same outlook. Anyway, Calgary is amazing and so is most of the rest of Alberta- the parts worth visiting are without par, meaning the Rockies parks, Drumheller, and of course Calgary. Avoid Edmonton at all costs. Oh, to the life-less moron who called Alberta Oklahoma North- you know and I know and everyone knows that you have never been to Alberta OR Oklahoma. They share NOTHING.

I love Alberta. Yes, okay, some people in Calgary can suck. But not everyone and besides, it's got tons to see (especially if you come during Stampede). Edmonton is beautiful too, plus we have Banff and Drumheller. I'm not saying we're the best province, but we're not horrible. And while we have a lot of prairie, we're not Oklamhoma North--that's Saskatchewan. What is there in Saskatchewan?

Alberta has one of the lowest levels of taxation in Canada, one of the highest rates of employment and economic growth and has demonstrated through fiscal restraint the ability to pay down provincial debt, while at the same time supporting much of the rest of the country with billions of dollars in equalization payments. Yet, Alberta learned its lesson with Trudeau's rapacious National Energy Policy and protects its resource revenues from being squandered too hastily on left-wing boon-doggles concocted by federal politicians constantly embroiled in scandal. Alberta has taken steps to resolve the Canadian democratic deficit, having conducted elections for still vacant federal senate seats as yet not filled with the inevitable patronage appointees who'll likely revile the politics of the citizens they represent. Alberta has not stopped, nor even slowed, the flow of support to other provinces; despite the constant criticism of its right-wing footing; despite startlingly disparate Kyoto accord requirements foisted on Alberta's resource sector relative to the eastern manufacturing sector; despite biased villification and conjecture towards western politicians in the media. Alberta is a place to get ahead in the world - with a culture of success ingrained into the fabric of its people simply, because most citizens don't want the government coddling them. TO THE RISING NUMBER OF SOCIALIST-LEFT-WING-THINKERS IN THE WORLD. Mark the rising levels of morbidity, mortality and the incidence of sub-standard intelligence levels in the so-called 'advanced' socialist nations of the world. Note the apathy, the examples of human rights abuses, the corruption made possible only with the prominance of government... the aristocracy and undeserving elite of the modern world! So revile Alberta; scorn Albertans with ignorant and unfounded utterances; apply such fallacious ad hominem attacks as to deny the existance of logic itself!

Actually YCCT, I'll take your challenge. BC has a desert (in fact, the only true one in Canada), mountains, lakes, prairies, history, and beauty - not to mention an ocean! And by the way, no Edmonton Mall either.

If you are going to go to Canada make sure you do the best and go west. Alberta is definently the most beautiful of the Canadian provinces and I will list some of the top destinations and attractions within Alberta. 1. Calgary, Alberta (especially the Calgary Stampede)... gateway to the Rockies... go see a Flames Game at the Saddledome built for the 88 olympic winter games. Visit Canada Olympic Park for skiing and snowboarding right within the city, other main attractions include, Fish Creek Provincial Park, the Calgary Tower, Downtown in general, and eau claire market. Also surrounding Calgary is beautiful Kananaskis Park a must see. Only a 30 minute drive from Calgary. Other attractions include, Writing on Stone Provincial Park... thousand year old hyroglyphics etched in stone around the Milk River in Southern Alberta (World Heritage Site), Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, Waterton Lakes National Park (World Heritage Site), also visit Lethbridge Alberta and see a truely amazing train bridge that spans across a huge valley (over a km long) made completly of wood. Then there is also Frank Slide the location of a major RockSlide that covered an entire town in the early part of the last centry. and a must see of course... DINOSAUR PROVINCIAL PARK (World Heritage Site)! This is truely amazing...you will feel like you have gone back in time. There are litteraly dinosaur bones everywhere... just look down and you will find tiny fragments of dinosaur bones... continue on to Drumheller and the Tyrell Dinosaur Museum and the Hoodoos and Badlands of Alberta...don't let the name fool you though.. the badlands are spectacular.. just watch out for the CACTI and the worlds largest Dinosaur. Heading further north... to Banff National Park (World Heritage Site)... then further north to the Athabasca Glacier. Take a huge truck right up onto the Glacier (this is a once in a lifetime experience) further up is the untouched Jasper National Park.. Also make sure you visit Edmonton (just pop in to see the Worlds Largest Mall... West Edmonton Mall) further North Still (if you can get this much time off work) go North to Wood Buffalo National Park... where the Buffalo Roam Free. I challenge any provice or any place in the world where you can find all these differnet features in one place.. deserts, mountains, lakes, praries, history, and beauty.

I am giving this province a 3 for Edmonton alone. Edmonton is a fantastic city with great people. Everywhere south of there is filled with redneck bigots, especially Red Deer. Calgary is a--hole central, the most arrogant and elitist people in Canada live there. It is not even considered a part of Canada because of the extreme right wing views that come out of that part of the world. Screw Alberta, though I really like Edmonton, great town.
