Peter Green is as good as any of the British guitar heroes. Most have listened to his work without knowing that it was him.

He and Mick Taylor should start a club of some kind. Both are incredible talents who's years of wrestling with insecurity and keeping a low profile have made them unknown to most of the fans they should have. A blues artist who should be a household name to any blues or guitar fan.

Peter Green is without question the greatest white boy blues guitarist (better than Clapton)!!!

Anyone who knows Peter Green and his career knows he is the finest Brtish Blues guitar player of all times. Listen to the "Hard Road" album by John Mayall and the BluesBreakers.Greeny is outstanding on cuts; The Same Way, You Don't Love Me, and Freddie King's The Stumble but the cream of the album is PG's Instrumental The Supernatural An All Time Guitar Classic. After Mayall Greeny recruited Mick Fleetwood and convinced John McVie to leave the Bluesbreakers and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac was born!Later it was shotened to just Fleetwood Mac. PG wrote clasic Fleetwood Mac tunes Like Black Magic Women, Albatross, Oh Well&Green Manalishi Peter Green along with his protege Danny Kirwan played some of the best interwoven guitar playing ever! LISTEN to the CD FM Live at the Boston Tea Party vol I II III Green and Kirwan are devastating on the 20+ minute Fleetwood Mac Classic Rattlesnake Shake Other classic Peter Green Fleetwood Mac albums to listen to "Then Play On" Otis Spann w/Fleetwood Mac on the Album "Biggest Thing Since Colossus""Live at the Shrine 1969" "The Vaudeville Years" "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac Live at the BBC" So listen to the Music and do not believe all the Peter Green rumors you hear most are NOT True!

Fluid, superb player: very adept at blues, but not just a blues player, could play hard rock, psych, even Hawaiian music splendidly. Replaced Clapton in The Bluesbreakers, and went on to Fleetwood Mac, whose early stuff is a lot better than the huge hits era IMO. Possibly best known on these shores as the creator of 'Black Magic Woman," which Santana had a huge hit with. That's a shame, as Fleetwood Mac, in the early days, were not that big here. His harrowing work on tracks like the weird, intense "The Green Manalishi," the instrumental "Albatross," and the raucous then beautiful, two part epic "Oh Well" is awesome. Took too much acid in Germany, and had mental problems , homelessness, etc. Of Jewish origin, he became a Christian who wore long robes and gave away all of his royalties because he felt guilty of making a ton of money while other people had nothing. It's nice to see that he's finally got his life together and is recording again with some success. His style was praised by no less of an authority than B.B. King, high praise indeed.

Undeniably the greatest white British blues guitar player ever. Never one to play for excess, Peter Greene made every spine-tingling note count. I only wish that he would have stayed with us long enough to receive the accolades that he had coming to him. What in the world a player of this monster talent is doing scrapping the bottom of any list like this is way beyond reason. The lack of popularity among people who who rate Neil Young and Mark Knoffler at the top (beating out Jimi Hendrix fer Christsake!) makes me proud to be among the minority. Truly an inspired and tortured genius. I wish that he would have recognized himself for the god that he was.

Better then Clapton thats for sure, but we never found out his full potential, so i dont think he belongs anywhere near the greatest list.

Passion, Grace and Fire! ... It's difficult to think of any guitarist who invested so much passion and integrity into their playing. Long live the Green God! ...

Greatest white blues player of all time. He jammed with Clapton once, and Clapton dismissed him because he outshined the so-called 'Guitar God'. He had perfect technical skill as well as sensitivity, but I take off one star because he was loony tunes. He was one of the more high-profile acid casualties of the sixties. It's sad, really, because he could have achieved so much more if only he'd laid off the drugs.
