Southern Methodist played their first football game in 1915 and has fielded a team every year since except 1987 and 1988. Southern Methodist has not been credited with a National Championship and is a member of the WAC. Notable coaches at Southern Methodist include: Hayden Fry, Ron Meyer , Bobby Collins, and Forrest Gregg.
