 | EschewObfuscation (61) 10/21/2004 | Completely insignificant. Natalie Mains was exercising her 1st Amendment rights (do they have a 1st Amendment in England?) to speak her mind, which she did in an effort to ingratiate herself to her audience and sell more cd's. Protesting against the US President overseas can be risky, ask Jane Fonda, Bill Clinton, John Kerry. Not every song is a hit, not every comment sells cd's. The people who reacted negatively were exercising their 1A rights also. Smashing and burning their pictures and cd's was a little over-the-top symbolism but if you defend some dingbat's right to burn the American Flag as his 1st Amendment right, everyone here is covered under the same umbrella. Too bad Rick Monday wasn't in the audience that night. Laura Ingraham has the right idea, tell them to just shut up and sing, I truly don't care what your political leanings are or who you think I should vote for. Ask Linda Rhondstat. (UPDATE: If anyone needs clarification of the Rick Monday reference, type Rick Monday Old Glory into any search engine. )

 | jamestkirk (23) 06/23/2004 | They are entertainers. Anyone who feels they have any political significance has pooh-pooh for brains.

 | abichara (60) 02/04/2004 | They just said one thing about being ashamed that Bush is from Texas! Too much of a big deal was made of that. I think we're all entitled to our opinions; yes, even in a time of war. I don't think that Bush is very afraid of the Dixie Chicks, considering that their popularity bottomed out after they criticized Bush's war.
