 | cyclee (18) 05/28/2008 | After watching "The Green Mile", I have decided this is one disturbing way to die.

 | edt4 (103) 03/27/2008 | Probably not the worst way to go, although not pleasant for those who are going to have to deal with your corpse. I've heard that execution in the electric chair was actually not a bad way to go (although, so far as I know, nobody ever returned from the dead to verify this). Supposedly, electrocution is unbelievably painful if the person is sentient, but by the time the message of unfathomable, excruciatingly horrendous pain from the nerves reaches the brain, the brain has been destroyed by the first crashing wave of electricity, even though the person is still technically alive. If might take another wave of electricity (or 2) to stop the heart and lungs, but by that point, the brain has been effectively destroyed. Of course, from an aesthetic standpoint, electrocution is a messy way to go, especially when it's deliberately done by the State. Hair and flesh burns with nauseating pungency, eyes can pop out of the head, blood can spew...well, you get the idea. Before the days of lethal injection, though, I thought execution by electrocution was probably the most humane way to kill somebody (let me state for the record that I am and always have been adamantly opposed to the death penalty).

 | kamylienne (78) 04/07/2005 | *bzzzt!* Though not as bad as some other methods listed (at least this one's quicker than, say, being choked to death), but I would imagine it's painful despite it being quick. I would imagine going by electric chair would suck, the anticipation would probably be worse than the act itself. However, if you go by a freak accident/lightening bolt kind of thing, at least you won't really have that much time to know what hit you.

 | jgls (12) 12/10/2004 | hell no. when i was a kid i thought it would be cool to stick a pin into a light socket and i got the feces zapped out of me. it wasn't enough to kill me obviously, but my hand felt like rubber for about three days, and it took about a week to get all the feeling back.

 | kolby1973 (32) 04/01/2004 | Of course it wouldn't be a good way too die ! I couldn't even imagine. HOWEVER, sometimes murderers deserve to be put in the electric chair, and in that case there is nothing wrong with it at all...

 | StanUzbeck (14) 02/03/2004 | If I was going to be executed, then this would be the way to go. You'd be unconcious instantly, before the brain has time to register pain, and it would totally sicken the witnesses, which would serve them right. With any luck, your body would burst into flames and make people vomit and faint. I think that would rule. But I wouldn't want to be electrocuted in any other way, like being hit by lightning or a downed powerline.
