As President, I would personally buy everyone a 'Mr.Wizard' t-shirt and multi-colored push pen that says: 'science rules.'

From W. Bush I've learned that science has very little importance. Evolution like gravity is just a theory. It takes faith to believe in these, so why not put your faith in God. God talks directly to W. Bush and Pat Robertson you know. Anything we need to know about space we can read in the Bible. We should however, try to build a vehicle so we can explore Heaven. Up there no Homosexuals will try to ruin our marriages. We will have to re-name NASA. It should be the Heaven attainment Bible observance bureau. HABOB for short.

At least 5% of the national budget would be dedicated to this crucial stepping stone to humanity's great future to come. The focus would be all across the bored from advanced earth-observing weather satellites, unmanned probes to outer planets (including still-unexplored Pluto and Cheron), manned missions to the moon and planets, and eventually--moon and Mars colonies in addition to orbital colonies in the LaGrange points. And after that, well, do the words boldly go mean anything to you? ^_^

Continue it and spend money to sustain it. We need to continue exploring outer space so the younger generation can learn the advantages of this science.

Set it aside and recognize that there are far more important priorities that need to be addressed first.

I would privatize this wasteful program.

I would only increase funding for NASA once basic domestic problems and international concerns involving us were okay. There are far more important things for the United States to worry about AT HOME and in Iraq than whether or not we can put another person on the moon in six years. Iraq should be one of our biggest concerns at this time, and the ability to make a successful transfer of power to the Iraqi people is basically going to make or break our international reputation. Worry about things in this world first, then go get the rest of the solar system.

If space exploration is so important to the human animal, then let private investors fund it. NASA has never proven anything to the public but a huge cash-vacuum for its employees and programs. American pride in the late 50's and 60's spurred the government onward and upward without consideration for the value or cost of endeavors which unmanned rockets and satellites perform for a fraction of the cost. Taxpayers should not be forced to fund such schenanigans.

The space program is important for a number of reasons fundamental to the human animal. The need to keep going, exploring, reaching upward is what defines humankind and sets it apart from the other animals. While there are other priorities, it is important that we do not forget this, and thereby descend to the mud and the bog.

I support the space program for several reasons, the most basic of which is that it fulfills an essential need of the human psyche, which is to be part of a civilization's cumulative longing to explore a new frontier. Never underestimate the excitement and the joy of being part of something that is always learning and growing. The universe is infinite and almost terrifying in its beauty--don't you too want to learn more, and at least vicariously go places new?

I would fund it however I would not give unlimited funding. Like anything else I would hold the program and the people involved accountable for the funds being used. Funding NASA creates jobs and stimulates the economy and pushing for things that have never been done before like sending astronauts to Mars raises the American spirit among us. If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say We need to quit funding the space program and start feeding the poor people in our country.... Good Lord! Not only are we feeding our own via welfare, food stamps and other charitable organizations but we are feeding the hungry people in the rest of the world. I read somewhere else on this site that only in America are the people who live in poverty the most obese and overfed people in the world! If anything, I would invest in education before the space program. Now shut the Hell up you freeloaders!
